https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHnncZU5kfY #8479 This is more of a thread dedicated to those of us who are technicly inclined (pun intended). It was damaged by battery leaks according to the description. I haven't watched it yet, but I hope it is able to be fixed and reassembled after being in more pieces then it came in…

Standard Lego bits last beyond 20 years easily. However, how long power function lasts? My code pilot (8479 barcode truck) does not work any more. With Lego now introducing power functions in almost every Technical sets nowadays, do you think it will still work after a several years?

My parents-in-law just unearthed a partially-build, very dusty #8479, with loose parts in a little bin. Took it home (with permission ;)) to de-dust and rebuild, so my son can play with it at there place. Fingers crossed it won’t re-entrap me in the enourmous hole called Techic.

Go for Technic, Mindstorms, Boost, Power Functions, trains, misc electronic sets like #4095, #8479, exc. New or antique, it's all fun to tinker with. Stay away from Powered Up though, it's rather janky (hopefully they fix it and make it more like power functions, but for now IMO it's not worth it).

I have noticed that old classic Technic sets (like 8448, 8880, 8479, 8868 etc.) have lost their values lately. Earlier they are selling at insane prices. Now their prices at Ebay is much lower. May be those sets are now showing their age (20+ yeras) and newer Technic sets offer more.
