Picked up 493 recently and it’s an absolute beauty.

Yeah so the copyright may say 1978 but it still could have been released in 1979 (but I really don't know!). It's the same with some sets that had the first articulated minifigs that are copyrighted 1977 but were likely released in 1978 (like 575 Coastguard). The brickbuilt craters are unique to 493. You can see them if…

The dish on top looks a lot like the one on #493/#926. The dome could be made using the dome parts from #60351. A circular floor plan would be tricky- maybe a lot of hinge plates or Mixel joints.

@EGRoberts The Heliport was my first LEGO set, Christmas 1974. The aunt and uncle who gave it to me gave me a lot of my favorite toys, #493 Space Command Center for instance!

Yeah, the gray antennas start at $20 on BL. I'm missing one from #493 Space Command Center, but can't see paying that price just for the antenna.@FollowsClosely Agree, not seeing any complete larger sets. You've got some key parts to #6970 Beta I Command Base, but no moon plats and maybe missing other parts.I'd be…

My sentimental favorite is this little guy that my grandson put together around 4 years ago while I was sorting Bionicle parts and told me it was me (no hair and a beard). It has been on display in the living room ever since. Runner ups would be the #10188 Deathstar or #493 Command Center

I wanna keep looking at this post just to see if LEGOFan2 ever gets the money! Lolol Ok I got a nice #493 Space Command Center form my amazing CS haul last Nov. Wasn't gonna get rid of it, but my plan is to be 100% Technic by 2022. It's the flatplate version, but I can swap in a crummy cracked crater plate.

The full set of series 18 CMFs that I left my grandson alone with for a few minutes. Came back to find 22 opened bags and one big pile of parts, and we had fun sorting everything out and putting them together. A close second would be #493 Classic Space Command Center that had been in my cousin's attic since since the early…

Short-term investing in Lego is a getting to be a bigger gamble every day. (Short-term as in doubling in less than 24 months). # of sets released in 2013 - 507 # of sets released in 2012 - 493 # of sets released in 2005 -387 # of sets released in 1995 - 190 *Generic #s here. Left CMF off the list entirely / DUPLO included,…

Since I had #487 Space Cruiser, #493 Space Command Center, and #442 Space Shuttle all from 1978 in the garage sale find I posted about in the "finds" thread, I just could not resist getting the other set from 1978 #483 Alpha-1 Rocket Base. It had the original instructions and most of the original box (one side torn off).…
