I seriously doubt that there are more Mr Gold's out there than IF. I would hazard a guess that if LEGO makes a standard production set it is in the 100's of thousands, not tens of thousands (barring 'limited' nature of course like #41999). As far as I'm concerned, it would not bother me in the slightest if TLG re-released any past set if it was, to most intents and purposes, identical.
