Very impressive!!! I love it... I once was going to make a European version of the 396 Thatcher Perkins hobby set... European in that it didn't have a "cow catcher" up front, and use different colors (green and orange). I always wondered about the 390-398 Hobby sets... and what the 397 would have been, had TLG ever…

TLG only ever made promotional LEGO sets for one World's Fair... the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. Here is the Danish Pavilion at the fair, where 2 special LEGO sets were sold. The 2 unique LEGO sets (with a handle for easy carrying around the fair) were... The small #395 Set... And the large #396 Set... Based on the…

Had a friend show me photos of this set his father picked up at an auction. Couldn’t find very much info on it, so thought @LusiferSam or @Istokg might have some insight on its inventory or potential value. Pretty cool to say the least anyway.

An even 20, mostly recent - #396 Thatcher Perkins Locomotive is the earliest to appear. The world's moved on (very happy with Emerald Night and the Hogwarts Express as my on-display trains at present), but I remember when the old girl seemed so big a build as to be almost intimidating.

This is an interesting topic.... I had always loved the old 1970s Hobby sets 390-398 (no 397). There were 3 antique cars (Rolls, Cadillac, Renault) a Harley Davidson and Norton Motorcycles, a Formula 1 Racer, a U.S.S. Constellation tall ship, and a (396) Thatcher Perkins 1863 era western American locomotive set. I had…

Hi everyone, This is my first post on here so I apologies if I don't quite get the format right (I have just posted the same thing on BrickPicker). I started collection SW figures in June this year and am getting pretty obsessed. I am currently on around 396 mini-figures which felt pretty fast, but now will now take the…

In earlier times (earlier 1970s) Service Packs were shipped to retailers in bulk, and the retailer would package them in plastic bags. Then in 1980 Service Packs came out in universal pre-packaged 4 digit numbered bags. Here we have the rod/piston set (as found in the 396 Thatcher Perkins Locomotive).... and from their…
