^ It wouldn't really make sense as it would kill sales of #9398. Why would someone buy #9398 when they could buy #41999? 250 extra pieces, more power functions, a nicer design, better parts for the same RRP?

Imagine if they early retire #9398 and replace it with #41999... What would the future value of each be in such a case?

But if you are suggesting that the orders they are taking now wont have the special numberplate then they'll get tonnes of returns, probably opened. That's not good business. In fact better to cancel excess orders (they've done it before), maybe offer 10% off #9398.

I would have considered getting the $137 #9398 from Amazon UK if #41999 was not coming out but it looks like the motor will be available on

Yeah either that or check the listing for the set carefully.. Right now it still says: '• Collect one of only 20,000 models, each with its own unique license plate number' So I would say as long as you see this in the listing on
[email protected] then it still is limited to 20K Or it is opening up LEGO to a lot of legal headaches if the…

I don't know if they will retire 9398 but I do know they have sold alot more than 20k 41999 and you can still order it on every shopping site across the globe....obviously the next batch due in 3 weeks won't have the extra unique number plate so it will be interesting to see what the market will be for the unique plates…
