#8421 will not be hurt by #42009 in any way. They will only help one another. #8421 for the fans and #42009 for the Wealthy fans.

I wonder if a limited edition blue 42009 is out of the question?

^ Largest for only a few more weeks :) Can't wait to see #42009 and its 2600+ pieces...

All stores in The Netherlands have -25% discount. What do you guys think of 42009 for 120 Euro (~162 USD)

^Yes, that's the main problem. I was in the lego store two days ago and checked out the #42008 and #42009. They are excellent models, especially the crane, and they blow #41999 out of the water. #41999 will have 1600 pieces and #42009 has 2600, an extra 1,000 pieces for $20 (USD) more. I understand the power functions cost…

#8275 and #8285 go for insane prices as well, no clue what the retail for them was though. 42009 will surely decrease the price of 8421, who would pay double for an inferior model in every way?

Has the Technic crane #42009 retired? Sold out in the US a few weeks back and now call to check availability on Europe
[email protected] Most of the UK retailers are also showing sold out.

That is exactly my point. 42009 is the third crane in five years. Big deal... it is exactly my point, another yellow construction crane, what is new or different about it? How about a Technic Eiffel Tower? How about a Technic Golden Gate Bridge? Those would be interesting...

regarding the future of Lego technic, i think 42009 will respark a few AFOL's interest in the theme. Its the first technic set ive laid eyes on where im acutally excited to buy one and build it, it just looks so much more fun than the unimog, and a much better looking model for display purposes.
