@JooTog Took your advice as it's such a bad build and with a little bit of negotiation with the boss, am now the proud owner of #21017.

Built 21017 Imperial Hotel with my partner yesterday. She now says she wants to build more together. Aww, bonding.

^ Interesting, never came across the box for #21010 or #21005, but I didn't think that #21017 was as big as #21042, then again it has been at least year since I've seen an Imperial Hotel set box in the wild.

I just finished building it last night; bought it @ Barnes & Noble last week at MSRP. It is (not) a boring build, it does (not) look horrible, and it (does not) looks awkward with the rest of the line. You should definitively (not) let this one pass... At 47.5x27.2x7cm, the box for #21010 Robie House is bigger ;) At 35x18x12cm, the box of #21042 is actually smaller in most dimensions than the format used for earlier large(ish) Architecture sets like #21005 Fallingwater or #21017 Imperial Hotel: 38x26x7cm. In a bit of a mucking fuddle. Just walked out of a shop which has the #21017 Imperial hotel at retail and am on the fence with buying it. Really like the set, and I know it's discontinued and will only go up in price but it is an expenditure that hasn't been taken into consideration this month. Anyone with any info…

The Imperial Hotel #21017 arrived from Amazon. I was able to stash it in the closet to hid it from my son. It's a Christmas present for him. Now...how do I keep from cracking it open before then? Oh, the temptation! P.S. Thanks @margot for the Amazon sale alert. I would not have bought it w/o it being on sale. Keep those…

The Imperial Hotel #21017 arrived from Amazon. I was able to stash it in the closet to hid it from my son. It's a Christmas present for him. Now...how do I keep from cracking it open before then? Oh, the temptation! The above was yesterday. I am trying to be strong, but...today I dug the parcel out of the closet and opened…
