Thanks all - I've identified them from the pictures in @Huw's link. Turns out most of them were actually from the late 90s, not early 90s, and indeed there are no set numbers on the outside of the sealed packets.

And then there's the later version with plastic inserts. This happens to be a sealed MISB 90 Super Set....

Also, I believe that the #90 Super Set was not a popular seller, due to the fact that it was an expensive set. This would explain why the Britain "Shop-At-Home" service from 1975-77 sold the empty box (with partitions)... as a standalone mail order product (the number of wooden boxes in inventory likely exceeded #90…

So I was at tru today and was trying to decide between 7066 and 4645... I'm more of a city guy, but dabble in sci-fi - space police, starwars, etc... I love the grain ship, but why is a set $90 with only 500 elements? The beach house had more elements, and it was $29.99... I love this set, but just can't justify.. perhaps…

Right, it's the inventory I'm after. The whole aisle display with all the 90's sets, either 1992, 1995, 1997, etc..... in all its glory.

I know that I'm brand new here so a sale thread is sketchy. I recently lost my job and I found a new job in another state. I've been casually collecting Legos since the late 90s, but my kids are old enough that they don't play with them any more and I don't have room for them. The collection is pretty big, but they are not…

Willing to sell all the used technic sets (not the NSIB ones) for $90, free shipping. I imagine the parts alone should be worth more than that. It does include the #8040 Universal Set with box.
-
The box is actually in decent condition, it was opened on one end, but otherwise is brand new in all respects. Parts in factory sealed bags, manuals never touched. Everything is included, including the box, for $90 shipped anywhere in the USA. PM me if you'd like it.

It's just frustrating that if you don't get on the site in the first 30 minutes or less of one of these sales, it is next to impossible to get any of the direct sets due to people buying 2 or 3 of one item. They need to limit quantities in some capacity. ummm it is a buy two get the 3rd 90% off, they would limit the…
