(If this is too basic, let me know. I did some searching, but didn't find much...) I am looking for basic info on Train Power Functions #88002. I bought it and the battery box #8881 to power my Lone Ranger Constitution #79111, so I can mod it and turn it into a Christmas train! Tonight I did a test run, without regard to…

You can probably make it work but you'd be better off just buying 88002. Look at book 2 pages 46-56 of the instructions.

It can probably be done with just the #88000 battery box and #88002 train motor if cost is a concern. That's what I plan on using for this one as well as #10173

Doing a tiny bit of Bricklink research, I don't see why you couldn't use the 88002 wheels instead of the older 9v 10153 ones, and then use the current Power Functions stuff.

Hey From the power function line i used: 1X 88000, AAA power box 1X 88002, train motor 1x 8870, lights 1X 8879, controller 1X 8884, receiver

If you are going to buy the Power Functions, be sure to stay away from the Lego extra motor set #8866. It is notoriously under powered and can be identified by it's white wheel bushings as opposed to the better #88002 that has orange bushings.

I just powered my Maersk engine (#10219) with the Power Functions Train Motor (#88002) as described in the instructions. Turns out that it's not a very powerful motor and can barely pull another unpowered engine + 4 cars around the track. My Emerald Night has much better pulling power with the #8882 XL Motor. Anyway, has…

@ereiamjh either the 8886 (short length) or 8871 (long length) will work. You need to make sure the cable does not catch with the under carriage of the train you are trying to power. The newer engine is the 88002 which has a built-in power cable. The newer Hogwarts Express is easier to motorise than Toy Story train.

Used 10219, Maersk Train, with power functions: - 100% complete, stickers NOT applied - box in excellent condition - factory sealed instructions with sticker sheet - power functions (88002 motor, 88000 battery box, 8884 IR receiver, 8879 remote control) - built once, dust free (stored when not in use) - pet, smoke and…

@benbacardi To motorize the train, I'd recommend Power Functions #88000, #88002, #8884, and #8879. All in stock at Lego.com this morning. The Powered Up battery box appears to have a blue-tooth receiver built in, but I don't see it listed for sale as a separate part. It looks like the connectors are incompatible between…
