Built #8001 Battle Droid out of a tub of used Lego I picked up but all the elastics are missing. I tried looking through both PaB and the parts replacement but couldn't find Rubber bands. I recently built a few older sets from 2000-2003 timeframe, the 8001 Battle Droid, 8002 Destroyer Droid, & 4481 Hailfire Droid. The instructions for those sets were much harder to follow than the current sets, which I do agree are almost too simple. But consider for a minute the target market... My 6 year old son does well… -

I did think of that, the only issue becomes "eww, 5,197 parts played with by someone else". I will say, I ended up buying a "used" 10030 to keep for myself, paid $300 less than a new one. While checking the "Tags grouped by theme" page, I noticed that the tag "x4" is (also) listed in Castle, with 1 associated set, but by following that link, I get a "No Sets Found" result (There are only 4 sets with that tag, all in Space Police 3), why? Personally, I'd guess in the ballpark of 4,000 sets. BrickSet has a record of 3,053 of them, but my collection merged with my wife's collection, who didn't keep close tallies on her collection, but has a confirmed 660+ set collection.
