If I remember correctly, I paid a little over $300 each plus shipping for my 7740 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7740-1 and my 7750 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7750-1 and my 7730 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7730-1 . I don't count my DS because I saved up $200 in VIP points for it.

@lordzarak I would agree with @Pitfall69 here. I have 2 copies of set #7730 from 1980. That set is supposed to come with 3 yellow cones without axle hole. One of my sets has the axle hole the other doesn't and I'm very sure both sets have their original pieces. You also have to remember BL isn't always right. In this case…

Getting #6377 for Christmas. Pretty much any LEGO moment around Christmas. Recently, it was getting all the Town and train sets in LEGO lots that I could not as a kid (like #1490, #6391, #6383, #6393, #7730). Main street reissue is nice, it allowed me to get a set I REALLY wanted as a kid, but could never get. I actually…

Probably the Christmas of perhaps 1984? My parents had bought the 12V goods train #7730, but had also bought everything needed for a town such as road plates and lots of different bricks to make houses, and had set the whole thing up for me on Christmas morning - to me it was the best Lego set up ever! I don't remember…

I was lucky enough to receive #6990 space monorail as my parents won some money in a newspaper competition, but I still wanted a lot of the other larger Futuron and Blacktron sets such as #6392 and the Blacktron base #6987 Also anything train related - I has #7730 and later got #7745, but so much pocket money went on track…

@martin: Nice Choice... I have many for each genre (Warning: I am an 80's guy here- Which I believe is the 'golden' era of Lego) each one was chosen for my opinion of great playability with one set. For Space: 928 497 Galaxy Explorer lots to do with the set For Town: 6399 Monorail, 6390 Main Street and 6383 Public Works…

When I was a kid, it really was only Christmas and birthday that I got 'big' sets - everything else in the year was bought with pocket money/money saved from birthday/Christmas (which only being a month apart meant there was quite a peak and trough in the Lego year!). Still have hugely fond memories of waking up on…

I have a million of those from part lots off of eBay, and they are still fun to look at. I remember being a kid going " I want the Cargo Center" I want the big rig truck stop" Airport" Etc... I also laugh at the Lego parts catalog back then.. to see all of the parts offered and how much each part cost.. like the old Space…
