I was just looking at some older entries in the Brickset database and came across something that surprised me. http://brickset.com/sets/760-2/London-Bus is listed with a US retail price of $49, which seems like a LOT for a 1975 set (that's like $224 in today's money, or around $2 per brick)! I know a lot of old sets had a…

This week I wrote an article (part 1 of 3) for the Brickset "front page"... about LEGO sets by region... http://brickset.com/article/13338/lego-box-variations-by-country-part-1-1957-72 In the past year I've had 2 LEGO set collectors from UK and Canada send me a lot of images of sets from those countries, and I've been kind…

I've been following the new inventories/instructions feeds. I'm not sure they're updating - the most recent are the 9th/14th of March - and based on the wonderful data graph Huw posted, they should have updated by now. There is a new inventory for 4000011 as noted in the forum. Not sure on the instructions. Also, the…

I draw your attention also to set #760-2 Double Decker bus. My brother had this; I've still got the instructions at arm's reach .... Note this is a very old set; whilst it was good for it's day, a cut-down version of Harry Potters Knight Bus #4866-1 (but in red) might be more anatomically correct!

Those of you who have waited for weeks (or longer) for my nearly 3,000 page collectors guide will be rewarded in about 2 weeks when they arrive at your home. Plus the freebies (rare 1950s parts) that I promised. The last CD problems appear cleared, and unfortunately I cannot cram even more stuff in there or into my head! I…

In ancient LEGO history (well OK the 1980s)..... I had the rare good fortune to find 35 London Bus Sets at $7 each (the USA 760 numbered version, not the "rest of world" 384 numbered version) on clearance in USA toy stores in the Detroit area. I've always been a fan of classic LEGO windows (1956-86), and each of those sets…

PerryMakes... there's likely a hundred different viewpoints on storing LEGO... "obnoxious" is not one of the better ones! ;-) There's some folks on Bricklink that feel if 2 mint LEGO parts are snapped together... that they are now no longer mint... and that they should be treated as used. IMHO... LEGO should be treated…

I'm counting today as the official 2-year anniversary of my decision to sell off my collection. I started with about 650 sets built and displayed, and I'm now down to about 25 sets. As I anticipated, the sale of my final sets is going excruciatingly slowly. I know that many of my remaining sets are not high demand, and I…
