   I think it's remarkable that the garden-variety humble retail set X-wing 75301 which you can easily get for $40 in 2022 is better than the top-tier MOC X-wings that I admired on Brickshelf in 2002, in most of the ways that mattered to me in 2002. So just owning set 75301 is better than having a top-tier X-wing MOC in 2002.…

   @EGRoberts I bought three of #75218- two at RRP, the third at 30% off. It's excellent. I have one (so far!) #75301, and it's also excellent. At 30 USD cheaper, I think it's better. The wing mechanism is the best yet.

   I don't mind "color-locked" Technic parts: look at the instructions for the wing mechanism of #75301, and imagine trying to build it if all the parts were the same color! I also like Technic parts in System sets, and vice versa! It's all LEGO, and ought to be compatible.

   #75301 and #75300 give me hope that we could get another minifig-scale TIE Bomber. #7146 had 171 pieces for $20 in 2001, #7263 had 159 pieces for $20 in 2005, and #4479 had 230 pieces for $30 in 2003.
