@Cyberdragon ..... Well ordinarily I would say 003 Master Mechanic Set.... which has both gears and a motor... but it was not re-released. So his is a difficult question, because I don't always agree with the Samsonite dates in all the online databases.... but my guess would be the fall 1965 releas of the 671 piece... 004…

OK.... now for something a bit more challenging... time to play LEGO Sherlock Holmes! :) One of the regular USA/Canada Samsonite LEGO sets was called the #004 Master Builder Set. This set was sold in all toy stores in USA and Canada, even in Sears, Eaton's and FAO Schwarz. It was a 671 piece set that was just a large…

As a former coin collector, grading services are an important part of very rare coins. One of the important features of coin grading services is that it provides a type of "rarity" feature... where the services would return an encapsulated coin with the "Mint State" rating where MS70 is a perfect blemish free coin. MS60 is…

The 001 Gear Set was released at Christmas 1965... my next door neighbor got it then, and we played with it for many weeks. It was sold by Samsonite (although designed in Denmark). It was sold in the USA from 1965-72, and in Canada from 1965-74. Due to the very long production run, it can be purchased for a reasonable…

Yes this Samsonite LEGO set was produced starting in the fall of 1965, and was discontinued in 1970 in the USA, and 1973 in Canada. Even though it was a Samsonite set, it was designed by TLG in Denmark. Here's some images from my Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts Collectors Guide (computer desktop download)... the chapter on LEGO…
