Hello I use Lego in my job and the "basic bricks deluxe" box 6177 was pretty much ideal for my needs (I own several). But, now Lego have replaced the previous range of brick boxes with the new "Classic" range (10692 - 10698). They include basic bricks but also decorative pieces (flowers etc). They also seem to be…

I was wondering the same thing yesterday, but found it: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6177

6177 is definitely retiring at the end of the year. I can get you one for 27% off.

I've got all the parts for the alternate blood pool, plus a spare 6177 so bear that in mind.

Hi, I'm ninick_the_demon and I'm from Canada. I owned many lego sets as a child but they were all given away so now I'm starting a new collection. Started a few years ago when I asked lego for my birthday and got this set http://brickset.com/sets/6177-1/Basic-Bricks-Deluxe . Let me tell you my parents were shocked that I…

Hi, I need to source a load of bricks, two studs wide and various lengths. What's the best box to get? I've gone through a few options: 1) Lego educational set - was about £50, I can't remember the set number. I've not seen them for sale for a while though. 2) Set 6177 - 650 basic pieces, about 2/3s of which are 2 studs…

If you like basic bricks, Amazon had a good price on #6177 at $25. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039PUTZY/ It's not a significant drop, but that set is a great value and rarely (if ever) goes on sale. TRU has it for $40 if that tells you anything.

#6177 is probably closest to what you're looking for. It has been out since 2008, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's discontinued soon. If you're in the US, choices are a bit slim in this category. #10664 is a nice, large assortment of mostly basic bricks but is not available in the US.

For those like me that missed out on Wal-Mart's creative tower, Amazon has a consolation prize: #6177 is 22.99 (23% off.) That works out to be 3.5 cents per piece, but these are pure bricks. No 1x1 round plate filler. And it definitely beats the current counterpart #10662 which is currently sold out at Amazon.
