It's not entirely new — it first showed up in White in #10247 Ferris Wheel. However, surprisingly, it hasn't shown up in any sets since then. #60130 Prison Island is the first set to use grey ones, and white ones are also being used again in #70602 Jay's Elemental Dragon from next year's LEGO Ninjago range. -

Re: Which Police Station do you recommend?
I think I'd use something like the Brick Bank Modular #10251, you might need two to do what I have in mind and have the grey of the ground floor continue on the top floor, whilst repeating the green upstairs windows on the downstairs. I'm seeing the tan used internally for the cells but it might be worth thinking about…
