I'm having a Bricklink store sale... $50 in orders gets either a set of 1970s mint large and small spoked wheels (enough for the 396 Thatcher Perkins Locomotive).... or a #1119 Rod and Piston Service Pack used in the #396 Thatcher Perkins. A $100 order gets both. Note: only have 1 rod/piston set, but 3 sets of the spoked…

I've sold 3 of these on Bricklink in the last 2 weeks and have 1 left over... I call it the 396 Thatcher Perkins "Parts Pack".... which contains (all Mint with 1 exception).... the main rare parts for building this very beautiful Hobby set of the 1970s. Ironically this USA 19th century locomotive model was never sold in…

^^ sure although the lights are spoiling it slightly. 396 baseplates. 101,376 bricks.

You mean like the addition of 4 additional near mint red spoked wheels (390+396) to augment the 396 (that uses the 1119 rod/piston set), and the addition of a scarce single black locomotive wheel used at the front of a 396? OK... P.S. Back in the 1980s I used to plunder the toy stores of Germany when visiting relatives…

Hi everyone, This is my first post on here so I apologies if I don't quite get the format right (I have just posted the same thing on BrickPicker). I started collection SW figures in June this year and am getting pretty obsessed. I am currently on around 396 mini-figures which felt pretty fast, but now will now take the…

Here is the only known (so far) large New York 1964-65 World's Fair 397 set. I know they have the 395 and 396 Fair sets mentioned in the Billund LEGO Archives, but I need to find out if the 397 set is mentioned there as well. I was not made aware of this set by the Archive folks several years ago. The front of the box...…

This was an easy question for me... the only LEGO item I display as art.... the 396 Thatcher Perkins... a true classic (both historically and LEGO wise)...

TLG only ever made promotional LEGO sets for one World's Fair... the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. Here is the Danish Pavilion at the fair, where 2 special LEGO sets were sold. The 2 unique LEGO sets (with a handle for easy carrying around the fair) were... The small #395 Set... And the large #396 Set... Based on the…

For me it was the mid 1970s #396 THATCHER PERKINS locomotive Hobby set. It had always sparked interest from non collectors, and was build of just bricks, slopes and plates... none of all the newer fancy parts...

Very impressive!!! I love it... I once was going to make a European version of the 396 Thatcher Perkins hobby set... European in that it didn't have a "cow catcher" up front, and use different colors (green and orange). I always wondered about the 390-398 Hobby sets... and what the 397 would have been, had TLG ever…
