Actually, the Black Friday LEGO sets at Target have always been sets that were near the end of their lifecycle. Black Pearl happens to already be discontinued by LEGO, but it's not unprecedented: in 2008, #6211 Imperial Star Destroyer was chosen, and had been discontinued for half a year. -

I thought of another one. One time on ebay a person had listed a set in a regular box as the Imperial Star Ship 6211. But there was one problem. It had a UCS plaque. It sold for something like $121. To this day I don't understand why I didn't increase my bid. -

Just saw this display today at local TRU, WOW that #75055 is small Still like the Older version #6211 better over all but the cannons lined up on the side is nice on the new set. Local Targets had removed last year's SW display guessing to make room for this years version.
