Have to say, building the Winter Toy shop with my son was a fab experience and one I won't forget. Having come out of the Dark Ages at the beginninig of the year, I can't beleive how captivated I have become with LEGO its as if I never left it. Santa is hopefully bringing lots of Ninjago ;) of which one is the Fire Temple…

Definitely a good set to find in a random lot sale! This looks to be set 10213, when I bought mine last year, the seller included the service pack, not sure yours have or not.

10231-1 and 10213-1 - "replacement for" / "replaced by" ? Not sure if there are other instances of this. Seems like service packs are the typical solution when problems arise with sets. That was the case with this one as well, but then they just flat out released a whole new set to replace it.

10213 has been around awhile, but 10231 has not... I don't think anyway... It is the kind of set they should keep for awhile, but when it goes, it will probably never be done again, so I can see that one being a good long term set.

^ Thanks bluemoose. It'll be interesting to see if anything is (or can be) done for collectors of MISB. Swap for a "good" batch box for example. I'm not so sure TLG does anything special for collectors. I have a MISB 10213 Shuttle Adventure. There is a known service pack for this. When I called support to get the pack they…

^ FYI I had a damaged 10213 from a buy 2 get one. I had customer service order me a new one when I called to set-up the return. They were out of stock but she assured me they were getting more. One week later they canceled the order. Finally got one 45 days later after numerous phone calls.

From the Ambassador forums, an update on #10231 'Shuttle Expedition', the replacement for #10213 'Shuttle Adventure', which explains some of the reasons for the replacement, and gives details on the differences between the sets ...Dear Ambassadors, Since its release in 2010, 10213 Shuttle Adventure has proven to be very…

^ They've actually started packing the instructions and sticker sheets in a ziplock-style bag with a rigid cardboard backing in many newer sets. The first one I received with this treatment was 10213 'Shuttle Adventure' but it's been cropping up in other sets, even smaller ones.

From fbtb.net: "it seems that the set is indeed discontinued but will be re-released under a different number (10231 vs. 10213) with changes to improve stability." http://www.fbtb.net/2011/05/04/10213-shuttle-adventure-almost-sold-out/

Again, from the Ambassador forum, from LEGO QA -"Yes it is correct that we have a stability issue with the Space Shuttle 10213. It became apparent after 2 months in the market that too many had called consumer service regarding stability with the tank and during play with the model. As a display model it had the needed…
