I rebuilt Market St almost exclusively from PaB pieces, and just substituted a few pieces in different colours, so my balconies are black, not white, for example, and the black archway above the little courtyard is slightly different. But it doesn't matter - I did it because I like the modular buildings, and I'm not a…

That sounds like a great project and a worthy cause too (as well as a great excuse to spend loads of money and time on Lego :D) As a first thought I'd direct you over to the eurobricks site. This is an index of all the castle moc's deemed worthy of catalogging:…

There are 700 sets in my collection, and I would guess that at least 600 of them are boxed. I open the newer sets with a hobby knife, very carefully. I haven't built them, so the pieces are still in their polybags inside the box. The instructions are stored in binders, theme by theme. I also have a colletion of old castle…

Hi Perry, Most of the new trans clear pieces that are molded now are completely transparent, but the browner ones in your selection could be from an older production batch (a few years ago - then in storage at the factory). Some older trans clear pieces were actually molded that shade - I have thousands of 1 x 1 square…

A couple additional pieces of advice: Bricklink.com will be your best friend. They have inventory lists for all available sets, and I find it's much easier to check off pieces and find what's missing than utilizing the instructions. Also, keep a running tally of pieces each set is missing. You can then input those missing…

Copying my comment from a different 'dust' thread: This is what I've taken to doing. I use a paintbrush to take any excess dust off the set, then break it down. I put it in a dish of warm water and suds, and let is soak for a few hours. I take the pieces out a handful at a time, drain the water in a sieve, and spread them…

A couple of thinkgs on the contents.... as was mentioned those brown bricks are not original to this set, but they are rarer (as are a few other bricks in your box)... so that you could possibly trade up to 2x2 and 2x4 bricks in red, white, blue, yellow and green, as found under the classic sales are of Bricklink...…

I'm slowly getting to the point that eventually I'll have most of the bricks I need to build anything I want. At which point I'll just get instructions and go on from there - no need to buy anything at that stage surely? Well apart from Minifigs. Well Minifigs and special pieces / new moulds. Actually Minifigs, special…

Sorry I'm off topic here, but I see price per piece discussions recurring so I'll mention it now. First -- and I imagine you already know this -- but you're mixing the MSRP set by TLG and the discounted price offered by retailers. The former is going to be more uniform, while latter will vary widely. So since you mention…

This is a crosspost from a different community, I just really wanted to "get in touch with the experts" so to speak. Hey folks, so I got a nice promotion and tax season is here for a refund. I just want to treat myself a bit. I normally don't go overboard on purchases like these, but I love Lego. After hours and hours of…
