A couple years ago I took apart #10179. Every single piece. I used an assortment of 17 plastic bins and hardware trays to sort all the pieces. I fully intend to rebuild it sometime, when I have space to display it, and I wanted to be able to find everything easily.

I found a light bley radar dish #50990 in a lot I bought. There are only 3 available on BrickOwl and 4 on BL, none of the stores are in the US. Strangely I can't seem to locate a set it belongs to. I know there is a printed one in #10179 . Does anyone know where it came from?

Unfortunately, there are scammers everywhere. Personally, I avoid any store that doesn't accept PayPal. The typical Bricklink "scam" store is a new one that lists 10179, etc for $750 sealed. Otherwise, I find Bricklink to be a pretty reliable place. Post a link to the store, it's reasonably easy to tell whether or not it…

There's real profit to be made (consider the obvious examples of 10179 or 10190), just not as much as if that same money was invested professionally. Some people might look down on your collection since the sets were made to be built, but I say to each their own. You're definitely not alone.…

^ there is a lot of difference between wanting it and parting with your hard earned money for it. I want a MISB #10179 but there is no way I will pay £4k + for one. :) Edit: plus the fact I like my anatomy where it is, which it wouldn't be after the boss had found out I'd spend 4 grand on a Lego Set.

@vwong19 I do have MS, got it cheap in eBay a few years ago. I value the "row" of buildings but not one specifically they all have their own appeal. In the last 2 two days, I had orders in my store that were parts obviously for a #10179 and then a #10189... long and exiting journey ahead for those builders.

@SDSUK Can you wish for a rerelease of 10179 please? "I takes my UCS very seriously" (You have to do this in your best welsh/Nessa accent) I was complete until a few years ago, even bought a load of SE Naboo fighters to MOC up a Royal Naboo Cruiser (Mmm, chrome parts..)

Hm, that is a shame. Don't let it ruin your love of the entire company though as this is just a small piece in the entire puzzle (even if orders were passed down through a few levels). Although I must say, I'm even more disappointed to see the article call the UCS Millennium Falcon 10179, a "Lego contraption"...

@wickedsymphony - My opinion is that it will continue to rise, so if you have a copy at a reasonable price and you want it, but it now. I can remember shortly after #10179 retired I could have bought one for $800. I thought that it was only $500 two months earlier.....I still regret that little inner monologue....

Rich, glad you got sorted and totaly agree about reporting items to eBay that as you say "Seem to good to be true" I did this during the week when a "seller" advertised 30 Millenium Falcon 10179 sets + 20 odd Death Stars all sold in a mater of hours earning the scammer over £6K!!!
