Probably the last minifigure-scale Slave I - that is, 8097. $150 is more reasonable to me now than it was eight years ago. I can't justify the $300 for the still-available UCS version, though.

I agree with @SprinkleOtter. It's worth picking a few of those sets out of the tubs, but I think most of those either have subsequent re-releases or are less collectible. #8097 - Slave 1 https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=8097-1&ColorID=0 #7166 - Imperial Shuttle…

The Walmart mid-year toy re-stocking doesn't have such a defined date as the day after Christmas. I looked back at my Lego expenditures and noticed that I bought 8098's and 8097's on clearance in Aug and Sept.

y2josh: From your quoted measurements it would seem that it would be about 1.5x bigger in all dimensions vs system, meaning 3.4 x bigger and potentially 2 to 3 times more parts than the 600 odd there were in 8097. For it's size, 8097 had a low count because the ave part size was quite big, and fewer parts means (generally)…

Coincidentally, the predecessor to 8097 (6209) had a mech as one of the alternative models on the back of the box. A few people have made the model, such as one right here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/24408 But it's always more fun to make an original model on your own. :-)

The #8097 is a good set: well-proportioned and detailed for the size. I remember when ebayers were trying to sell them for ridiculous money on the day the UCS set came out, hoping people didn't notice the size difference... I am not related to @Legoboy :-)

I've sold a few for $25 a pop. They were also available in Sweden when you purchased set #8097 Slave 1. I've seen estimated numbers of 10-20,000.. personally, I would say it's probably around 20,000 considering the constant amount on the market.
