Monorails and the Space theme are so perfect together. When I think of monorails I think of Tomorrowland at Disneyworld. I've been eyeing the original 6990 Futuron monorail on ebay. Seems that prices have been rising. If Lego really had the balls to throw caution to the wind they would release a new Space based monorail…

@BBN, congrats. That reminds me, have to call down to my dad's workshop & check the storage racks for the #6990 we had, I just hope it hasn't walked (with my brother's assistance) like a few other items.

I once picked up a near complete Monorail set in a box with at least 3 other near complete town sets for $30.00 from an antique store. Great buy! I usually only find broken trinkets at antique stores :P My most distinct memory of drooling over a Lego set as a child was the Toys R Us display of 6990 Futuron Monorail. After…

Hi folks. I took delivery of a 16 pound lot I bought online. Judging from some of the pieces in the lot, there may be one or more sets hidden in the contents. I could load the entire inventory into Rebrickable for MOC building (which I intend to do)... but is there a site for official sets that provides the same service…

^Thanks for the suggestion. I did go back to the seller one more time, and they insist they don't have a single remaining lego piece (or raised baseplate). The lot also included #6399 and #6990, but no monorail tracks - killer! This guy apparently had the absolute dream collection of every Lego-loving kid in the late…

I was lucky (unlucky?) enough to pick up a Monorail Transport System on my last vacation to Florida (and thus had to lose some clothing to fit it in the luggage...). While I enjoy the set, I've decided to let it go, as it doesn't really fit with my collection. I'll post some pictures later, but the set is 100% Complete…

Thanks! I do not recall a lot of creativity with lego when I was growing up. Always follow the instuctions and play with the set as is. I had a few city and space sets, nothing too extravagant (with the exception of the monorail 6990), but I was never encouraged to go beyond the manual. Regardless, Huw, your site is…

#6399 because of the apparent demand of that set, even today. It is a Monorail and seems to also work with the train crowd as well as city. Or #6990 because it was the first Monorail released and is iconic I think it will be very difficult to pick the best set of all time, you may have to first pick the tops for each genre…

1984-1985 or so... I don't remember exactly which one was first, but #6603 Shovel Truck is the earliest I remember. For probably Christmas after that, the biggest set I remember (at least until getting #6990 Monorail in the late 80s) was #6386 Police Command Barracks. It was fantastic because both I and my brother had a…
