@EGRoberts The Heliport was my first LEGO set, Christmas 1974. The aunt and uncle who gave it to me gave me a lot of my favorite toys, #493 Space Command Center for instance!

Haha .. their familyname is Lego, that's why TLG lost the case. Lego. for a hundred years. Weird, huh? (.. 1974 off to google people named Duplo ..) Btw, did Jack Stone ever sue TLG?

@Aanchir, strange... Because the stuff I had in storage dates from 1974-1994 & there is definitely the classic Grey of Space, but most of the Castle stuff I have matches the grey that all my new stuff is...

This is one of the LEGO stories (about the beginning of LEGOs relationship with the Maersk shipping folks). So many of the old time LEGO employees are long ago retired deceased... so a lot of the early history of the company was lost. I'm trying to find and record this lost history, and make it fun reading, in a new…

This is classic story of my son hitting 5 and going to pull out my old childhood legos and finding out they are worth a decent amount. I am not a collector just a user so for me these would be for my son and I's enjoyment. I would far rather sell these to a collector and go buy 5 times as many other legos for us to enjoy.…

I like the show, but I think it caters to toys that are long gone. You can pretty much replicate most old Lego sets, but it'll be hard to find my 1974 Munro Bobby Orr table hockey game!

In the 1980s and 1990s I had gotten a large trove of the now rare red and white large spoked wheels with lack tires. The red ones were used in several 1960s/1970s sets, and both red and white ones were found in the 1974-79 Hobby set (only sold in Europe and Australia). The white large spoked wheels are much rarer than the…

#269 is shown as 1979 here on brickset, and that does work with the 1978 minifig creation date. at the same time I see a 1974 date for first minifigures, and a 1978 date for the copyright. seems to be a bit of a grey area around there as to when the official start might be.
