It can probably be done with just the #88000 battery box and #88002 train motor if cost is a concern. That's what I plan on using for this one as well as #10173

Is there any notable difference between the #8881 power box and #88000 power box aside from price? I'm about the pull the trigger on buying and figured I'd ask.

Hey From the power function line i used: 1X 88000, AAA power box 1X 88002, train motor 1x 8870, lights 1X 8879, controller 1X 8884, receiver

Anyone know if you could use #8881 battery box rather than #88000 for the Power Functions in this model? Also wondering if you could run lights to the 4 fans, as they would look great lit up.

?...Um...well it is now. It's a 2015 set, I'm pretty sure they still make the parts. https://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Power-Functions-AAA-Battery-Box-88000 Edit: Don't use Duracell batteries! They don't fit!

Ordered the #10266 Lunar Lander and will be getting the #40335 Space Rocket Ride freebie to go with it (missed out on the patch, but not really fussed about that). Also ordered #8883-1 Motor and #88000-1 Battery Box to motorise my #10262 Roller Coaster :-))

@benbacardi To motorize the train, I'd recommend Power Functions #88000, #88002, #8884, and #8879. All in stock at Lego.com this morning. The Powered Up battery box appears to have a blue-tooth receiver built in, but I don't see it listed for sale as a separate part. It looks like the connectors are incompatible between…

@Legolis If you don't want to splash out for the new system, the bits required for controlled power functions with the old system are... #88000 - Battery Box £11.99 #8884 - IR Receiver £11.50 #88002 - Train Motor £11.99 #8879 - IR Remote Control £10.99. Currently they are all available from
[email protected] but how long for now the new…

Here's a good video example, which has a parts list at the end.Do you have any spare Lego motors and compatible battery cases? Because the main issue is cost, as the Power Function (PF) line is all discontinued, and its replacement, the Powered Up line, is frankly overpriced. The PF m-motor set number is #8883. The PF…
