I quickly went through yesterday's find and found: - 10 classic space torsos: 4 red, 3 yellow, and 3 white. Some still have really nice prints. - 3 old minifig legs (2 black, 1 red) - assorted parts from 6882 Walking Astro Grappler - the flag from 6970 Beta Command Base (with one sticker placed upside down) - some parts…

I've been having a really hard time answering this question. I've got a number of rare or difficult to find sets. For the right price I'd part with most of them as I don't have a deep emotional bond to them. So to answer this I'll exclude items from my non-brick collection as most people wouldn't care about these items to…

Working on the new 9 volume collectors guide (for China and USA/Canada as well)... so I don't have a lot of time to talk here... but I will tell you this.... coming up with the information requested by the Original Poster is going to be a lot more difficult than it seems. TLG was NOTORIOUS about mixing old and new molds...…

What's the term for the period before the dark ages? Anyway, mine was 1977-1985 or so, or ages 8-14. Most of my classic space sets said they were recommended for ages 8-14 or something like that, so I thought something was wrong with me for playing with them when I was 16. Soon I started driving a car, going to summer…

@drdavewatford I have to concur with the mixing of the old and new tiles. I own a MIB 266 Child's Bedroom Set, and it had 2x2 tiles with grooves, and 1x1 tiles without. Same type of scenario as with old vs. new gray elements in LEGO sets of the last decade... you had old mixed in with the new, until the old ran out. TLG…

From 1949-1979, LEGO predominantly used a 3-digit numbering scheme. I'm not sure if there was an organizational structure to it (seems like not much). There were a few 4-digit sets here and there, but almost all the 4-digit sets that existed started with "1" (#1000-#1999). From 1980 to maybe 1996? LEGO had a pretty nicely…

I dunno, I think #6286 Skull Eye Schooner is better. :) I love the new sets, but lets face it, many play sets today are just that, there are no alternative models that were designed for those sets much anymore. The 80s sets were 'basic' but it was for their time, and also forced builders to become creative with the sets…
