I bricklink'ed 10173 to complete my WV set and I agree. The train is crap. But my COD to have everything Winter Village wanted it (luckily it hasn't made my buy 10249) Should've spent my money on bricklinking 10194 instead.

Managed to find #10194 Emerald Night in excellent condition. Just in time for Christmas! Most expensive set I ever bought. Though still better than bricklink prices which was my excuse hehe:) I will want to mod it to 8-wide, and add motion.

As for extra carriages, you are able to get them off of eBay for $50-$70 on a rare occasion. It might be easier to buy another copy of 10194, and sell the locomotive. I've seen one loco sell for $70 (with box and manuals) + $10 shipping, but then again selling is a hassle :(

Someone commented recently that this year is shaping up to be a great one for AFOLs. That got me thinking, how great have the past 5+ years been for AFOLs, so I looked at the sets from each yet and picked out the ones that I'd want to keep from each year. I'm curious as to other's thoughts, are there any weak years (I…

We are currently cleaning out our basement of sealed sets to make room for a reno and would love to share these with others who might have a use for them now. We have sold and traded a few things to local bricksetters via this forum, and are known as kriskobrix on eBay. Here are some of the 9V and other train items we are…
