Classic? 379 is a classic, 7641 is merely a few years old
-
@hardrada: I agree with the bus looking better in #7641 though the new one is still nice none-the-less.
-
I have to say I am not a fan of the re-release. It devalues the original significntly. I guess my few #7641 won't be worth squat anymore.

I bought #60031 yesterday in a norwegian BR toy store. They had a sign "Only available at BR". Looks just like the old one, compared the instructions with #7641.

Wow, so this is real after all? I was expecting this to turn out to have been a weird comedy of errors. Very surprising news. I just got a used one three months ago but I'm still happy about this. #7641 is one of my favourite City sets from the last few years. The yellow bus is gorgeous. (This still doesn't make much sense…

This would seem more plausible if #60026 wasn't just being released. I think #7641 is nicer (especially the bus in it) and doesn't have a redundant crane to drive up the price so I'd still be happy with it being re-released though.

The City Corner re-release (#60031) from 2013 is the exact same set as City Corner (#7641) from 2009. There is no improvement or change (that I'm aware of). When LEGO releases a new police station or fire station every 2 years, it is just that, a newly designed set, not a re-release.

My son was looking through an old Lego Catalog today and pointed out #7641 City Corner, which reminded me of the re-release. So just wondering if anyone has seen this in wild anywhere else (apart from BR Norway) yet, as I would like to get a copy?

#60026 is in the stores in the UK, so it's not cancelled (unless it's going to be cut to a very short run). It's in a big thick box like #4207; has the look and feel of a big substantial set (more so than #7641 did in the thinner box). the "unique" parts TLG may have a lot of left over : definitely the 8 x 16 baseplates!

^ I wasn't sure #7939 was ever retired - it may have been in short supply over one summer, but afaik there were the three PF trains (passenger train and the two cargo trains) available concurrently. The difference with #7641 is that it was definitely retired, so this is something of a re-release, albeit I think in the past…
