THE Slave I

I've just bought #6209 Slave I (for a VERY reasonable price), and it got me wondering, which does everyone else think is THE quintessential version of Slave I to be released so far? Personally, my favourite is #8097 due to the detail and the Han in carbonite mould, but I haven't had chance to get hold of that one yet.

    It's got to be #8097. For some reason I skipped #6209 and was lucky enough to grab the newest version. Boba is great and Han in Carbonite is by far the best.

    Newest is the best actually. Would love a UCS scale model of one. Pretty certain we will get that within the next contract period, but might be Jango's.

    I have only put together the first one but from the images online and the quality of the mini figures, I would vote for the latest #8097 model.

    ^ I hope not, everyone loves Boba. On that train of thought, what about #7153, surely it must get some recognition for having the the only Jango minifig?

    Very surprising that there has only been one Jango figure, although a lot of those mandalorian figures kind of look the same.

    I loved the #6209 Slave 1 (have 3 of them for some reason).

    It's one of my favorite builds out of all of the SW Lego ships. I was disgruntled at first when the #8097 came out but that too is a lovely, lovely ship. You really can't go wrong with either model.

    when you say the first one - do you mean #7144? Man that is ugly.

    @littletoki - which one is your display piece though - that's what will tell the tale.

    I have to say #8097 is my favorite. Excellent build and color. Also love the newer minifigs in this set.

    I got the original #7144 which was good when it came out but I missed #6209 during my second dark age. I don't like the coloring of #6209 though, too bland.

    Yes @TyoSolo, that's the one. It is very um...non aerodynamic :) But those old Lego sets have a charm about them. Maybe because this particular one was one of the first Star Wars sets I had put together.

    6209 and 8097 are pretty similar to my eyes; hard to believe that a new paint job and better minifigures = 50% price increase....

    Maybe a UCS Jango Fett Slave I would increase interest in the UCS Obi Wan Starfighter? They do go together . . . .

    And if you made them the same scale...

    Well, then the Slave 1 would really be too big. :) Slave 1 is a much bigger ship than the Jedi Starfighter.

    And while we'd all love another Jango, I think Boba is more known and more popular.

    It was also 4 years later, much further along in the price increase cycle. Not to mention that TLG is just trying to earn as much as possible.

    I hear you, and agree with you, that is why I won't be buying Jabba's Palace anytime soon, too expensive. If they come out with another Sail Barge, I fully expect that one to be too expensive as well, given the aftermarket price of #6210.

    I like the coloring and figures better in #8097 but I prefer the spring-loaded missile in #6209 over the rapid-fire flick system on the new one.

    The best part about #7144 is the unique smoke-colored canopy extender piece, and the fact that it is small enough to fit on the landing pad on #10123 Cloud City. Otherwise, I agree that all other versions are far superior.

    @TyoSolo ~ they were both displayed at different times but now packed away.

    If I had to decide again which one to rebuild and display - I think I'd go for the #6209. I think it's the sand green.

    The newest version has Bossk, automatically making it the best version.

    Really though, not having seen 6209 in person, it looks a bit blocky in comparison, and I prefer the colour scheme in 8097.

    I've yet to see the #6209 in person (still waiting for delivery), but I didn't think it was that much different to the #8097 - aside from the colours and the superior carbonite Han.
