Hopefully you're headed to the mountains.. Nothing better than the Pacific Northwest in the summer!
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Only for 2 days. Sunriver, OR and Crater Lake. Then Redwoods, SF, Yosemite, Mono Lake, Bodie ghost town, Legoland, Vegas, Grand Canyon, Zion, Arches NP, then back to Iowa =)
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
Crater Lake is awesome.. All of those places are. Love the west coast.

@graphite- Yosemite. My favorite place in the world. Just beautiful... words truly cannot describe it. I hope you enjoy, what sounds like, an absolutely incredible vacation.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Yeah I'm hoping for good weather the whole route because I wont be able to spend much time in each place. I'm going out for a wedding and decided to make it a road trip. Yosemite is pretty much a drive through and maybe stop for a couple hours due to not being able to get a campsite inside even though I booked 3-4 months ago. Camping to the east of the park right next to Mono Lake. I wanted to take this opportunity to just see a bit of each park on the round trip so I can decide where I might want to spend more time on a future vacation.

@graphite- While there at least try to make one hike up to one waterfall. It's well worth it. Also, if you have time, try and go see the Redwoods or Sequoias. It's truly spectacular.

Here's an odd one. While searching for the SDCC figures on eBay I randomly came across a sealed Chrome C-3PO which I ended up getting for $160 shipped!

I have enjoyed reading all your stories I call finding deals is being lego lucky. I think I have a few good ones. I answered add on craigslist for free city sets. this was a few months back. I happyily went and picked up the small lot the lady handed me a trash bag and a small tote full of legos. I saw a couple of city sets. I loaded my treasures and headed back home. I got home and started to pull out instructions. I found the largest farm set from a few years ago. a city corner. and the winter bake shop. all great finds. then my jaw dropped included in the lot was the instructions to a grand emporium. I was like what. I opened the bag and low and behold grand emporium still in the poly bags my partner and I opened all the little bags and spent the next few nights putting that together .and it was alll there. I also scored a few other little sets but very happy I got another farm set. my orgional I took apart a few years ago. I didnt like the little barn because it was always coming apart so I rebuilt this one to be more sturdy. and it turned out really cool. so all for free. I am truly lego lucky. peace brickriver

9463 The Werewolf, Monster Fighters on my building table! Hubby picked it up at TRU for 25% off so after their $5 markup it was just a little cheaper than TLG charges for it. It is one of the few MF sets I didn't have!

I posted this elsewhere so apologies for the repeat:

You know I'm so jealous when I see those "Holy Grail" brags about some awesome Craigslist find or another. Well I think I found mine! A Craigslist ad popped up "bins full of legos!! make an offer"

I got all of this for 200$. Of course there's the requisite Megabloks, hot wheels, bandaids garbage .. so far I've seen the MTT, lots of PotC, Knights, Star Wars, ExoForce ..tons of figs. Table and bins were included too.

Sets that look mostly complete so far:

    7662 MTT
    7041 Troll Battle Wheel
    7029 Skeleton ship attack
7018 Viking ship vs midgard serpent
    7691 ETX alien mothership
7256 Jedi Starfighter and Vulture Droid

    ^ nice haul.

On the MTT i saw a CL add where someone had 10 or so sets up and they had MTT with an asking price of $550!!

Nice Haul. Love to find something that large here. I see a A-wing there too.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
Just got back from Target in Tacoma, WA. They have Fire Deptartment and the Forest Police set for $55 each, Podracers set for $63. They also have Lighthouse $42, all the Alien sets marked down and the green SW gunship (name has slipped my mind) on clearance. Walmart in Puyallup, WA had Whitecap Bay for $54. BP still not marked down there yet :( Not great clearance prices like some have found but still decent :)
  • cynthilinacynthilina Member Posts: 188
Well I got a a nice find, not as nice as all yours but ok I supose.

    8014, 8018, 8036, 7753, 7654, 7932, 7913, 8098 all complete and 58 lbs miss lego for 750.
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
I must thank @lordharrier for reminding me about CL. I had quit going for a while, too disappointing... I see his post above, pop on over, and get:

7644 Hypersonic Operations Aircraft (my very most favorite set) - $40
    8635 Agents Mobile Command Center - $30
    7665 Republic Cruiser - $30
    7662 MTT - $40
    7944 Fire Hoverboat - FREE!

All sets are between 75-95% complete, with instructions, probably missing minifigs, but still, nothing to scoff at! That is, until I look back up at @lordharrier 's pics!
  • LordHarrierLordHarrier Member Posts: 21
8635 is one of my favorite sets! Good find @Brickarmor.. I'm still sorting through my bins

More mostly complete sets I've found are:
    7257 Ultimate Lightsaber Duel
    6207 A-Wing fighter
    6600 Highway construction
    7106 Droid Escape
    7250 Clone Scout Walker x 2
    7255 Gen. Grievous chase
    7623 Temple Escape
    7737 Coast Guard 4wd
7739 Coast Guard patrol boat and tower
    7885 Robin's Scuba jet
    8104 Shadow Crawler
    8631 Jetpack escape
    7743 Police Command center

    Partially complete so far:
    4970 Chrome Crusher
    4980 Tunnel Transport

The family were moving and selling alot of stuff in lieu of a garage sale. I went back later that day to buy a Nintendo Cobalt blue Ds Lite and about 15 games from them for 120$. Not the best of deals but considering I was willing to pay upwards of 500$ for that Lego lot I still made off with a good deal yesterday.

I missed out on a good deal on CL but the really nice seller contacted me with an additional lot he had. I managed to buy all of the following sets in perfect sealed condition (as if they were just taken off the shelf) for around $5 above original retail:

    7127 Imperial AT-ST - $15
    7141 Naboo Fighter - $25
    7200 Final Duel 1 - $10
    7203 Jedi Defense 1 - $10
    7250 Clone Scout Walker - $15
    7252 Droid Tri-Fighter - $20
    7660 Naboo N-1 Starfighter and Vulture Droid - $35
7661 Star Wars Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Booster Ring - $55
    7664 Tie Crawler - $55

So glad I finally got a copy of 7661 at a great price. That blue and white color combination looks great.

Yesterday I picked up the following from a Kijiji Ad:

    - 7143 Jedi Starfighter

    - 8099 Midi Scale Imperial Star Destroyer(?)
Not sure about this one. It may just be an attempt at building an MOC version by some kid... but it looks like the start of one and there are an awful lot of smaller grey 'wing parts' floating around in the bag.

    - 7263 Tie Fighter

    AND>......

    6210 Jabba's Sail Barge!!!

All of the above for $60 (!!!) + an extra $10 to go through another bag of 'older' lego. From that bag I snagged as many parts as I thought could belong to either of the sets I saw in the bag I was purchasing.

She was basically selling the lot as a bag of bricks. She said she grabbed everything that looked like it belonged with the 'brown ship and spaceships' and put it in one bag and threw everything else in another bag.

From a quick look it appears as though most of Jabba's Sail Barge is there including platforms and the front slope of the barge, the sails and frames are all intact, plenty of black tubes, the starlak pit (which was assembled), and Jabba himself in great condition. It's partially assembled but incorrectly. No minifigures other than Jabba. I almost jumped when I saw him in the bag.

I can't wait to sit down and do a part count.

I'm sure I'll have some bricklinking to do in order to complete the build... but what a great find!

A good deal on Dutch Marktplaats again, 7018-1: Viking Ship challenges the Midgard Serpent delivered home for € 46,50 !!

Interesting find today, I went to the thrift store and picked up an older lego set. Upon further inspection, it turns out to be 9702 - Control System Building Set plus what I think is several expansion sets for it. Brinklink says none for sale and the last one sold for $250!

Wow, I'm not a licensed guy, but these polys are getting me hyped up. Can't wait for them to arrive in Canada.

Picked up a tower bridge for half off! What a score! Box is a bit mangled, but you can't beat half off! Also got to see the stock room of a LEGO store (aka LEGO heaven)

@jvdrummer182 Gratz!! Have fun with that build lol. It drove me nuts, no numbered bags and 4K pieces, ouch!! But well worth it in the end

I just picked up a huge box of Duplo trains and pieces and a second box of older random parts for $10 total off CL.

Are those Thor polys hard to find? My TRS had tons of them.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
^ Not too hard in the US - I got them from TRU too. The Frodo ones are hard to find though. They are all going back to the UK, where neither are available.

Lego sold you a damaged box for 50% off? Or 20% and you had VIP points?

I've got a thread in marketplace. I can see if they have restocked today, although it is a 60 minute detour for me.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
Although there has not been any interest from anyone in the UK, so I probably wont bother. The Frodo figure is quite cheap anyway, and I don't want to end up with loads of polys with a cheap figure, paying more than a cheap figure. In this sense, the Thor poly is a better sales prospect and probably easier to get rid of on ebay.
