A great find again, this was the last big Castle/Fortress I still missed from the Fantasy Era theme. Hard to find and if you find it very expensive. Patience paid off again, found one and got it sent home for €51,00. Only some smaller sets now.

While 1400 miles from home building some greenhouses in Homestead/Florida City FL last week, I decided to stop in a Walmart. To my complete surprise I was able to pick up 6x 4194 for $20 each and one 4195 for $35.
  • tvihtvih Member Posts: 92
What the hell? Queen Anne's Revenge for $35? Ok, now I'm officially jealous. I'm about to pull a trigger for one at 111 euros including shipping, which is still less than the 129,95 euros + shipping that it would cost from [email protected] It'll be my first LEGO ship, and based on pics I think it might well be the best-looking one. I'd kill for such a bargain for it!

I think you'll be overjoyed with the QAR @tvih! One of my favorite builds, out of many. It's the gorgeous red sails, I tell ya...
  • SherlockbonesSherlockbones Member Posts: 411
    Yes D:

It was either that figure or a couple of Battle packs :P

Not a huge steal but I was happy to pick up 6865, 6857, and 8085 for $40. The Avengers sets are terrific

Couldnt believe amazon.fr had 8078 portal of atlantis for 35.90 €. I got five :-p

Got three city of atlantis for 41€ each at a local toyshop. Not that much of a steal but selling the poseidon minifig and other minifigs it is going to get cheaper..l

I am not too much into the theme but the big sets (portal and city of atlantis) have very nice pieces and minifigs. cant beat 1007 pieces at 0.039pP. they re not just round 1x1 either...;)

Partial great find. A local WM has BOXES of S5, many unopened. Bad part, they are on clearance aisle but marked $3.49 each so no sale or clearance price even though they are red tagged :(
  • gifinimgifinim Member Posts: 174
Had a play on eBay and got a 8052 Container Truck for £45 and a MISB 8294 Excavator for £48. Much better than the buy-it-now prices and Bricklink, so :)

#7674 V19 Torrent happy Purchase at the weekend 99% Parts and original instructions all in very very good order £18 with postage.

Considering I watched three others and the price ranges from £35 -£45 on ebay I am very happy :)

Think it is what you get when you list an item with the title: Ster Wars Lego!!!

    Two recent scores :
    * Mindstorm NXT 2.0 NIB $180. Not phenomenal, but the best I've seen it recently.

The following for $260 (all boxed w/instructions, some NIB)

Just got myself #7672-1 for about $90 from a shop in Denmark. Might not seem cheap compared to US prices, but around here it's a bargain.
Also found #66387-1 for $12 in a supermarket. Again taking the danish prices into consideration, it was cheap.

Found a 9492 TIE Fighter in the Amazon Warehouse for $34.43. Was about to buy it for $41.99 price matched to TRUs sale price (which was already a pretty good price). Woohoo!

After searching in my local British Heart Foundation and other charity shops for over a year, I finally found some LEGO there ( last time, someone put some M***B**** out and marked it as LEGO) and what it was was a old Bioncle set, Tanka :P

Apart from ONE technic pin, everything was there, the price? £4
  • paul_mertonpaul_merton Member Posts: 2,967
My best catch was a 10193 Medieval Market Village for £0.00.

Okay, it wasn't really free as such. Lego made a huge cockup with my order and ended up corrupting my account while trying to fix it. I asked if they could send me this set as compensation, and they did.

That almost beats my sisters Cloud city Boba Fett...

Personally I'd take a free MMV over a cheap CCBF any day :)

Well, I'd definitely prefer the MMV, but surely it would make more sense to go for the cheap CCBF. You could sell it and then buy 2 MMVs and still have some change left :)

Or you could buy alot of CMF packets :P

I got 7626 Indiana Jones Jungle Cutter for £22 with box and instructions, which in itself isn't bad, but upon receiving it I discovered that the 'extra parts' included were a complete 7263 Tie fighter set and a partially complete 7256 Jedi starfighter set.
  • BrickarmorBrickarmor Member Posts: 1,258
^Nice! I recently thought I had stumbled on a gem, the #10131 Tie Fighter Collection with a slightly busted box, at a yard sale for $5. Opened it up, pieces looked new and shiny, some factory bags I thought were still sealed, instructions too... Got home, there's about 200 of the 650ish pieces. Disappointing, but I would have still bought it anyway.

My other near-brag: my stepson is 17 so I've commanded him to harass his friends to dig up their Lego and give them to "my son" (*wink-wink*) before they turn college age and start fundraising drives for tuition. One kid says yeah, I'll look, tells me a few days later he found a big Rubbermaid thing more than half full. Jackpot! Right?! Well, his mom intervenes, says she's going to clean them first, but of course she's checking FeeBay and CL. My wife comes home, surprises me with the load she paid $40 for, it is a lot of Lego, the bin is very heavy... there are some enormous MegaBlechs too... okay, keep calm... I see straw and chicken feathers... they are sitting in 8 inches of water... they had been stored in the barn...!!!

Days of intense cleaning later, $40 was fine. Only about 5% non-Lego. Nails, staples, army men, rocks. The good news: found out that the water was not umpteen years old but only the night's rain. Whew! And I was able to get the rust (from the nails and junk floating against the Lego) off many of the old Harry Potter pieces.

After refreshing Ebay for about 20 mins to kill time, someone posted the Lex Luther Gamestop poly for $5 shipped. Grabbed it! Got that and TC-14 for $22 shipped and after using my $14 in ebay bucks, $15 for the two figs. I did blow one last week tho. A nice lot of Harry Potter stuff went on for a buy it now of $120. If I would have known my HP stuff, I should have grabbed it. One of the sets in the lot goes for about $150 itself. Blew that one.

Did just get a lot of 16 lbs for $115. All 80's stuff and it gave me the old Cargo set, the one with the airplane and about 50 figs, 8 of which being the really old first castle figs.

Need a thread for "missed finds" as I can go on into a lot of those. 110 (70 straights) pieces of 9 volt track for $100 shipped.......

Received today 8823 Mistlands Tower, not a real steal for € 55,00 but not too expensive either and already happy I found it. The Knights' Kingdoms II sets from 2006 are hard to find in the Netherlands. Now 2 more to go.

This is the greatest idea I've seen ever. With my sons being 2 and 4, I'm going to go harass the guys at work for their son's LEGO sets to give them to me my sons (*wink-wink*)!

@Brickarmor, thanks for the awesome idea!

Amazon had one King's Castle 7946 today for $95 shipped.
Just built mine today, got it off eBay for 88 euros shipped. Not bad considering it's below RRP even after shipping :) It's a nice castle, though I think I might customize it a bit at some point, perhaps make the two front "towers" twice the height and such. Time will tell.

I bought a box off CL the other day for $35. It had several complete sets with instructions that included 2152 Raptor Robo, 5938 Oasis Ambush, 6550 Outback Racer, 6580 Land Jet 7, 6915 warp wing fighter, 7110 land speeder , 7101 light saber duel, and 7127 imperial at-st? P,us there was some other incomplete sets, cars, etc. I thought it was a good deal.

At a visit to the Natick MA Lego store yesterday for PaB, the manager asked me if I'd be interested in a 21010 (Robie House) for 50% ($100), as it had been holed by a forklift and one bag of 1x1 lt bley tiles was punctured; all there except 20 or so tiles. As I wanted that set anyway for parts (over 700 dk red 1x2 plates, for example!), I took him up on his generous offer!

Nothing great, but grabbed a #7961 off Amazon for 30% off, with free shipping and no Tax. Haven't been able to find one at any Wally or Target on clearance so just went ahead and snagged one, once you take the lack of tax into it saved about 35% total so no complaints.

Found an oldie but goodie on Ebay: Legends Hotrod #10151 complete with unused stickers and instructions, all in excellent condition. Total = $46 shipped. So happy with this gem =)

Also picked up another oldie: Mickey's Fire Engine #4164 with box and instructions, both in excellent shape for $15 shipped. Time for some Disney magic =)

Joked with the Wife that she needed to stop by Target to get #5770 to add to her Beach house because is was clearanced for $28. She comes home smiling because she got the last one on the shelf and it was marked $20....

Not a huge brag, but this was the first large box of random lego I've bought since coming out of my dark ages. The person was asking $350 for about 50 lbs in a large rubbermaid container. Over the phone we agreed on $5/lb so $250. When I arrived I found out it was both lego and M*** B***** mixed together so I offered him $100 and stayed firm. He took the money and helped me load it up.

After several hours of sorting I ended up with 30lbs of lego, a complete working 9v train with tracks and controller, and several other complete sets all from the late 90s early 00s. I'm looking forward to rebuilding 4559, and 6497. I think there are other sets from the time twisters series which was such a weird series, but they should go well with the new monsters themes. I don't have any trains right now so I'm quite happy to have a working base to MOC with.

I'm like a kid in a candy store sorting through all the parts and rebuilding the old sets.

Picked up a used 4483, no box or instructions but fully assembled plus 83 SW mini-figs (52 Troopers / Clones) for $200.00

Me starts to think people are people are off loading items for some capital. Hmmm, what could be up ;-)

My wife just emptied all of my stored broken down sets into one bin.. About 25+ sets. Grr.. Don't feel like going through them all and separating them again, so I may just have to dump them all as bulk. At least I saved all the instruction books.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
^ You sure you got the right thread?? :-)

You bloody well sort them. They're now worth a fraction of what they were - if that's a relevant factor for you.
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
I just saw then talking about buying bulk.. Just made me think about my situation. There's a lot of big sets in there, Hogwarts/Millenium Falcon/Helms Deep and stuff like that. I may separate them, just don't if I'll find the time.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827
^ Good grief, get them out!!
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ Ship them to me and I'll sort them for payment in a couple sets =)
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
My issue is I don't know what pieces go to which sets.. Some are easy like the sand green pieces, but what about a grey 2x6? Could belong to a number of sets.. I suppose I could get the instructions out and start a checklist, but good grief that will take forever.

Sorry to get off topic, just venting! She thought she was doing me a favor by creating more space in my Lego room!
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I guess that depends on if you're worried about the exact grey 2x6 that came in that set going back in the set. Otherwise as long as its the correct piece in the correct color then the set is back together. I've had to do that type of sorting quite a few times over the last 6 months with lots that I've bought.
  • AFFOL_Shellz_BellzAFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Member Posts: 1,263
Most large sets have an inventory in the back, but inventories for a lot of sets can be found on line. Good luck. Maybe she'll help being as she made the mistake of mixing them.
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
@BoiseState I'll come over and help you sort - just let me bag up Helm's Deep and take it home for my services... :-)
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
That's right, you live in Boise. How about this, you sort them all and you can have a janitor minifigure!! Somebody was selling one for 10k in the ridiculous EBay auctions thread. Haha.
  • ChoochChooch Member Posts: 148
    LOL - Awesome slave wages
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Lol, sorted out a bin of Lego I bought once. I will never do that again. It had some expensive sets too -- early HP, Star Wars and early Batman & Spiderman. I was about 90% finished and just wound up giving it all to me kids set by set.
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
@BoiseState I'm actually passing through Boise next weekend. I could just pick it all up =)
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
Be prepared! Hottest week in recorded history here, 106 degrees today, 108 on Tuesday. Ill know in the next day or two if I'll sort or dump.
