edited June 2012 in Shopping USA/Canada
I didn't see this posted yet. July 2012 calendar is out.

Highlights:
(*) July 1 - 15 : Free Build a Minifig Set with a $99 purchase. They are calling it a "Build a Mini Pouch". Is that new terminology for it? The pic shows the typical three pack minifig packaging with some figs in it.
(*) July 1 - 31: 25% off City Accessory Pack (i.e., fireman pack) with a $50 LEGO City purchase
(*) July 1 - 31: July Pickable Model is a "Patriot" (aka Uncle Sam) in small PaB cup.
(*) July 3 : Monthly Mini Model Build - LEGO Torch Model to celebrate the summer games
(*) July 13-15 : Creation Nation at Park Meadows store in Lone Tree, CO
(*) July 16-Aug 5 : Quest for the Ring - "put your hobbit skills to the test and go on an epic journey around the LEGO Store - build your own sword, find the Uruk-hai Army, and show off your LotR knowledge! Everyone who participates will receive a sticker sheet while supplies last and will be entered to win a LEGO LotR set raffled off each week"
(*) July 18-31 : Kids go free to LEGOLAND California/Florida or Discovery Centers (w/ paid adult)
(*) July 21 : Club Meeting - Lord of the Rings, build a castle
(*) July 27-29 : Creation Nation at Riverchase Galleria store in Birmingham, AL

I am trying to figure out if you get the exact three minifigs in the picture or if you make your own minifigs.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
Probably make your own. What would be the fun of it if you had them prepackaged?
  • Russell844Russell844 Member Posts: 2,423
I ask because those look like the minifigs you get at store openings or first year anniversaries.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ they ran this promotion about the same time last year (except it lasted a whole month, not half), and it was build your own from the BAM bar. I would suspect that is the case again.

I'm new to this and can't seem to find a link to the July 2012 calendar on LEGO.com. Can someone please point out how to find this? I get the June 2012 .pdf but no July.
    Thanx

Guess I'm going to delay that Fire Brigade until July 1st. This is better than recent months imo.

Although a little lackluster compared to the previous two months, the July calendar still has its share of Lego goodness...:)

    - July 1st - 15th get a FREE BAM (Build a Minifigure) Pouch with $99 purchase. Not sure if there will be any new figure parts in the BAM Bar but check with your local stores Brick Specialist or Manager and ask if they have new parts in the back. Most times they'll check and bring those out to you.
    - July 1st - 31st get 25% off City Accessory Pack with any $50 City set purchase.

    - July 1st - 31st July's Limited Edition PAB model, The Patriot (Uncle Sam)! Get into the spirit of Independence Day with this model that comes in a small Pick-A-Brick Cup ($7.99). Ask for the printed instructions.

    - July 3rd FREE Monthly Mini Model Build (MMMB). This month...an Olympic Torch to celebrate the Summer Games! The build starts at 5pm till 7pm and each kid (ages 6 - 12) gets to learn how to build one and take home the model with parts inventory card. Limited to 150 - 250 models.

    - July 4th! Independence Day! Fourth of July! Celebrate this great day by teaching your kids some American history and build some Lego. July 4th should be July 2nd...discuss...and then... hit Brick Fiesta!
    - July 4th - 8th Brick Fiesta in Houston, Tx. Check out the details at BrickFiesta.com!
    - Kid's Go FREE! From the June Calendar (starting June 18th) continuing till July 31st, kid's get a FREE ticket to Legoland California, Legoland Florida or Legoland Discovery Centers with $75 purchase and paid adult coupon.

    - July 16th - August 5th have an epic journey around the Lego Store. Build your own sword...find the Uruk-hai army (probably hidden around the ribbon models) and show off your Lord of the Rings knowledge. Everyone who participates will receive a sticker sheet and be entered to win a Lord of the Rings set raffled off each week! Sounds great! Check with your local store for details to join in the Quest for the Ring!

    - July 21st, LEGO Kid's Club Meeting, The Lord of the Rings! Kid's build a castle of their own design to fend off the mighty Orc Army! Registration is the standard $25...or $20 for VIP members. Kid's receive an exclusive Lego Lord of the Rings t-shirt (not sold in stores), stickers, a $5 coupon and at times can take home the model they built at the meeting. Ages 6 - 14 (limited space...check with your local store).

-Lego Creation Nation Event at Park Meadows Lego Store, Lone Tree, CO (July 13 - 15) and Riverchase Galleria Lego Store, Birmingham, AL (July 27 - 29). Build a large scale map of the United States at this event! Check with each store for any special give-a-ways.

    - Summer vacation suggestion...Lego in the Bahamas! LEGO MBA Atlantis Fantasy Camp July 23rd - 26th. The Lego Master Builder Fantasy Camp offers kids the opportunity to work alongside a Lego Master Builder to learn various building tips to develop their building skills with epic Lego masterpieces. Check out ATLANTIS.com/summercamps for more details!

    - Finally check out LEGO TV on Comcast On Demand (turn your TV to the Comcast ON DEMAND channel, go to "Kids" on the menu and then select "LEGO TV"). You'll see fun and funny action packed Lego videos, Star Wars animations, Lego Club TV episodes and more! Also don't forget to scan the QR with your smartphone to stay up to date with the LEGO Store!!!

Ok, I still pose the question, where on LEGO do you guys find these calendars? I'd like to be able to check them periodically.
    Thanx
  • legoDadlegoDad Member Posts: 529
^ I get the actual calendar from the Lego store the beginning of each month. Then I scan them. Check out my Flickr.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/
to see the calendar in parts (calendar is bigger than my scanner so I scan sections for easy reading).

In case anyone needs this or can't make it to their local store. Here's the July MMMB Olympic Torch instructions.

If I'm not mistaken, the August calendar should be out soon if not already. If someone does obtain one, could you please post the deals in a new thread? Thanks!

Gracious. Had enough parts to build a couple of these.

Unfortunately, my store didn't get the calendar in this week. Late shipment or something like that they said.
I did see from the manager's pdf. print out (plus on the wall), the MMMB Build is a Shark, and there are 2 mini-builds(don't know what this one is). That's all I could see real quick with the large crowd there.

Celebrating Independence Day with a great Revolutionary War documentary and my son built The PATRIOT! If anyone needs the instructions, I don't see it on Lego's site yet but I can scan the printed booklet.

    Nice work Mike!

@bmwlego...thx my friend! Oh...also I just remembered from the printout I saw briefly in the store, the free polybag if you spend like $50(?) is that Cake mini model polybag.
I believe it's this one you get for free in Aug....http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=40048-1

@legoDad, was there the 5th also (actually was on the phone with @bmwlego telling me about your post =-) They were showing me the small printout of the aug calendar and looks like each store will have a different build for the 2nd mini-build, last year they had a watermellon slice? (which is one pictured on the flyer). Will be there today on my way home from work, see what shows with the truck, maybe new calendars... back to saving Astoria from this Cherry Valley sandwich ;-)

Not sure if already mentioned, the August mini build is a shark. My brand store had it posted a week ago.

Hey @murphquake! The Watermelon Slice was part of the regular MMMB in 2010 and I think you're right, it was part of the 2nd build event last year (I'm not entirely sure though). Since I already had it from the 2010 MMMB I didn't get another last year.
Hope it's entirely different this year.
Thx for savin' Astoria...was there Sat. at the Museum of the Moving Image checkin' out 2001 with my kid. Had a great time.
I'll be back at the store next week for the Quest for the Ring...build a sword and get some freebie stickers.

@legoDad the August calendars came in yesterday, a few summery things shown that could be the 2nd store build, no news yet for Queens. If you're going to be around Friday I think me and @bmwlego should be at the store around 7pm (I leave for work at 8:30). I did a really good job, no calls after the 3rd hour of my 12 hour tour, and found a new wifi spot =-)

Don't have any kids to take to the zoo, but that's a good find if you're buying lego anyway =-)

Ok, so on the UK and DK store events pages (not sure about the DE pages, as the translation isn't clear), the image for the Mmmb is the shark, but the words say that the build is a "hawk"??

Ideas, anyone? And what day is the second build scheduled for?

    Thanks

Any idea if Lego Brick & Mortar stores allow the 10% off coupon + Minifig deal that is running through 7/15? I haven't tried to stack a discount + promotion at a Lego store.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^As long as the total still ends up being over the required limit, they will give the Minifig promo also. Works same way for all promos at the Lego store.
  • legoDadlegoDad Member Posts: 529
Another fun time at the Lego Store. My kid had fun with the Quest for the Ring! Simple but fun for the little ones...I recommend having the younger kids do it.
    image

First off, they give you a map, which is digital map (like the digital boxes) and you go to the screen and see Gandalf's Arrival and Frodo greets him. Runs around the horse (I think he feeds the horse a carrot) and then Gandalf's fireworks go off from the back of the cart. Fun animation. The Lego Brick Specialist reminds the kids to remember this scene.
    image
    image

After the digital map...you have to build your sword! To protect you as your journey begins. They give you a long technic rod so the sword won't come apart easily. Very much like the promotion they had with buidling your own Harry Potter wand awhile back.
    image
Now from here you carry your sword and search the store for the Uruk Hai!
Check the ribbon models and there should be 8 total. One each hidden in between the models. Some stores might have them in the larger displays but check with them on that.
    imageimage

After you've discovered the hidden Uruk-Hai figures about the store...you must find Frodo and the One Ring!....in the PAB Wall...somewhere. Look around and you'll see this. Each store will have him in a different drawer I believe.
    image

Once you've found Frodo in the PAB Wall...then you receive your reward of this sticker sheet. Very cool graphics.
    image
And then your kid tests their Lord of the Ring knowledge on a small form that will enter them into winning a LOTR set each week. Not sure how many times you can enter. I forgot to ask. I think you can do it each week till the promotion ends.
Try to remember what happens on the digital map, how many Uruk-Hai are hidden, which drawer and brick color you found Frodo, what race of people is Frodo from, what's Golem's real name and one other question I can't remember.
    image

Fun for the little ones...but the only thing that bugged me is that you had to pay for the little sword the kids built ($5.99). C'mon Lego...if the kids complete the Quest, then just give 'em the sword....sheesh. I bet though if you're friendly with the Lego store staff, they might let you get the sword free (couldn't hurt to ask). Besides the sword price...all in all fun for the young ones.

^ The Lego sticker sheet is very nice. I asked for a couple without doing the trail (I'm a bit old for that) and they just handed them over. I was spending over $100 at the time, so probably worth asking if AFOLs want them. I wanted them for my kids. I am a bit surprised at the lack of Frodo on the sheet though. And Gollum. They could have fitted those on and left off the troll.

As usual, Mike, great write up!
  • khmellymelkhmellymel Member Posts: 1,313
^^^ Almost makes me wish I had kids, that sounds like a fun thing to watch them do!
  • gmpirategmpirate Member Posts: 1,654
Hmmm, saw the lego pit but the staff never mentioned making the swords. We counted six Uruk Hai at Downtown Disney. Took my boys and some of his friends down there for his 10th birthday and he was the only one who could answer the questions -- without hesitation at that! Have to think that at least part of the purpose was to see how familiar their customers are with LotR. His friends hadn't a clue.

Thanks Brian. By the way...Lego Store called and Robbie won the Uruk-Hai Army set for doing the Quest last week! Needless to say he was excited...:)
We already had one but it's great to keep army building Uruk-hai and attach another one to Helm's Deep. Quest was well worth it!

@thedollarhollywood...it's 10". The same as the technic rod they used for the Harry Potter Wand build they had last year.
  • krklintkrklint Member Posts: 502
means there will be left-over pieces, like from the Harry Potter wand, in PAB walls soon!
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
I just realised there are (at least) two versions of the sticker sheet. My one has Gandalf, Theoden, Gimli, Legolas, Ringwraith, Aragorn, Orc, Troll. Hence the comment above about no Frodo.

^Ah, that's pretty cool. I'm gonna' check if they have any left overs at my local shop.

If they don't, then I have a spare one I could trade for the other sheet. Although I am in the UK.

^^ we got some extras from our store on Tuesday, that's when I found out there were two sheets.
