Although a little lackluster compared to the previous two months, the July calendar still has its share of Lego goodness...:)
- July 1st - 15th get a FREE BAM (Build a Minifigure) Pouch with $99 purchase. Not sure if there will be any new figure parts in the BAM Bar but check with your local stores Brick Specialist or Manager and ask if they have new parts in the back. Most times they'll check and bring those out to you.
- July 1st - 31st get 25% off City Accessory Pack with any $50 City set purchase.
- July 1st - 31st July's Limited Edition PAB model, The Patriot (Uncle Sam)! Get into the spirit of Independence Day with this model that comes in a small Pick-A-Brick Cup ($7.99). Ask for the printed instructions.
- July 3rd FREE Monthly Mini Model Build (MMMB). This month...an Olympic Torch to celebrate the Summer Games! The build starts at 5pm till 7pm and each kid (ages 6 - 12) gets to learn how to build one and take home the model with parts inventory card. Limited to 150 - 250 models.
- July 4th! Independence Day! Fourth of July! Celebrate this great day by teaching your kids some American history and build some Lego. July 4th should be July 2nd...discuss...and then... hit Brick Fiesta!
- July 4th - 8th Brick Fiesta in Houston, Tx. Check out the details at BrickFiesta.com!
- Kid's Go FREE! From the June Calendar (starting June 18th) continuing till July 31st, kid's get a FREE ticket to Legoland California, Legoland Florida or Legoland Discovery Centers with $75 purchase and paid adult coupon.
- July 16th - August 5th have an epic journey around the Lego Store. Build your own sword...find the Uruk-hai army (probably hidden around the ribbon models) and show off your Lord of the Rings knowledge. Everyone who participates will receive a sticker sheet and be entered to win a Lord of the Rings set raffled off each week! Sounds great! Check with your local store for details to join in the Quest for the Ring!
- July 21st, LEGO Kid's Club Meeting, The Lord of the Rings! Kid's build a castle of their own design to fend off the mighty Orc Army! Registration is the standard $25...or $20 for VIP members. Kid's receive an exclusive Lego Lord of the Rings t-shirt (not sold in stores), stickers, a $5 coupon and at times can take home the model they built at the meeting. Ages 6 - 14 (limited space...check with your local store).
-Lego Creation Nation Event at Park Meadows Lego Store, Lone Tree, CO (July 13 - 15) and Riverchase Galleria Lego Store, Birmingham, AL (July 27 - 29). Build a large scale map of the United States at this event! Check with each store for any special give-a-ways.
- Summer vacation suggestion...Lego in the Bahamas! LEGO MBA Atlantis Fantasy Camp July 23rd - 26th. The Lego Master Builder Fantasy Camp offers kids the opportunity to work alongside a Lego Master Builder to learn various building tips to develop their building skills with epic Lego masterpieces. Check out ATLANTIS.com/summercamps for more details!
- Finally check out LEGO TV on Comcast On Demand (turn your TV to the Comcast ON DEMAND channel, go to "Kids" on the menu and then select "LEGO TV"). You'll see fun and funny action packed Lego videos, Star Wars animations, Lego Club TV episodes and more! Also don't forget to scan the QR with your smartphone to stay up to date with the LEGO Store!!!
Thanx
to see the calendar in parts (calendar is bigger than my scanner so I scan sections for easy reading).
I did see from the manager's pdf. print out (plus on the wall), the MMMB Build is a Shark, and there are 2 mini-builds(don't know what this one is). That's all I could see real quick with the large crowd there.
Olympic Torch MMMB (instructions a couple posts above)...
BAM Pouch (FREE w/$99 purchase) parts I picked...
I believe it's this one you get for free in Aug....http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=40048-1
Hope it's entirely different this year.
Thx for savin' Astoria...was there Sat. at the Museum of the Moving Image checkin' out 2001 with my kid. Had a great time.
I'll be back at the store next week for the Quest for the Ring...build a sword and get some freebie stickers.
FREE Child's Ticket to the Bronx Zoo with a $75 Purchase!
Visit the LEGO Store and receive a free child's ticket to the Bronx Zoo with your purchase of $75 or more! Offer valid at participating NY and NJ LEGO Stores and only while supplies last. One ticket per customer per purchase. Offer valid July 7 - September 3.
Don't have any kids to take to the zoo, but that's a good find if you're buying lego anyway =-)
Ideas, anyone? And what day is the second build scheduled for?
Thanks
First off, they give you a map, which is digital map (like the digital boxes) and you go to the screen and see Gandalf's Arrival and Frodo greets him. Runs around the horse (I think he feeds the horse a carrot) and then Gandalf's fireworks go off from the back of the cart. Fun animation. The Lego Brick Specialist reminds the kids to remember this scene.
After the digital map...you have to build your sword! To protect you as your journey begins. They give you a long technic rod so the sword won't come apart easily. Very much like the promotion they had with buidling your own Harry Potter wand awhile back.
Now from here you carry your sword and search the store for the Uruk Hai!
Check the ribbon models and there should be 8 total. One each hidden in between the models. Some stores might have them in the larger displays but check with them on that.
After you've discovered the hidden Uruk-Hai figures about the store...you must find Frodo and the One Ring!....in the PAB Wall...somewhere. Look around and you'll see this. Each store will have him in a different drawer I believe.
Once you've found Frodo in the PAB Wall...then you receive your reward of this sticker sheet. Very cool graphics.
And then your kid tests their Lord of the Ring knowledge on a small form that will enter them into winning a LOTR set each week. Not sure how many times you can enter. I forgot to ask. I think you can do it each week till the promotion ends.
Try to remember what happens on the digital map, how many Uruk-Hai are hidden, which drawer and brick color you found Frodo, what race of people is Frodo from, what's Golem's real name and one other question I can't remember.
Fun for the little ones...but the only thing that bugged me is that you had to pay for the little sword the kids built ($5.99). C'mon Lego...if the kids complete the Quest, then just give 'em the sword....sheesh. I bet though if you're friendly with the Lego store staff, they might let you get the sword free (couldn't hurt to ask). Besides the sword price...all in all fun for the young ones.
We already had one but it's great to keep army building Uruk-hai and attach another one to Helm's Deep. Quest was well worth it!
