I've heard of a French designer who is now working for LEGO. Here are some of his work. It looks like we've already seen a lot of his ideas be created.

I think this was covered earlier in another thread.

    The first sight!!

Hideously stolen from the thread on eurobricks but thought people would appreciate it shared here. Looks like a nice gold cutlass.

^ Such a tease! If they are out in September, surely someone could (officially) leak a pic of all the figs. After all, the Haunted House is due out in September and we already have tonnes of pics and now a video.

^ Well stolen sir! I salute you!

    Someone Welsh!

We already have an English beef-eater (royal guard), an Irish Leprechaun and a Scottish bag-pipe player. Surely it's time for a Welsh mini fig...

    I'm guessing a pretty young Welsh lass in a stove-pipe hat : )

^ in padding, unlike the rest of the world's rugby players.

I think it was already on this thread. You could have an american footballer for the US market, and remove his protection to turn him into a rugby player for the rest of us.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^But then he would only be playing for 'brownie points' instead of multi-million dollar deals in contracts and sponsorships.

And you could put a tutu on him for our European soccer fans :). J/K, just messin with ya guys. Weird how soccer is so popular globally, but you can't pay people to watch it here.

^Its also true vice versa. My european colleagues who ex-patted to the US are big rugby and soccer guys, played it their whole life growing up and still do time to time even in their mid-upper 40's. So they've given football a chance and watched a couple seasons worth, but show no real excitement when we talk about it. I think its because football inherently has a lot of rules and technicalities. We see it as adding skill & complexity, others see NFL as touch-rugby for cry babies. Unfortunately, the lack of global appreciation what makes it so unlikely that we'll finally see a proper Pro Footballer in CMF form anytime soon. Unlike Baseball & Basketball.

I'm guessing the welsh national dress (or a welsh themed figure) would probably be less internationally recognised than a grenadier guard, bagpiper or leprechaun.

The pirate picture gives me hope that we might start to see series 8 pictures soon, either official or leaked (assuming that the figs are already in production? not too sure how long these things take to manufacture and distribute for a september release). The new pirate hat (blackbeard) would have been nice, but I'll settle for this.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
I think also the stereotypes are internationally recognised. It makes me wonder if we will get other nationalities - not just our (UK) home nations. After all, Lego is not British. The Viking just about covers Scandinavia. Baseball - the US.

    So what about ...

    Onion seller - France
    Lederhosen man - Germany
    Pizza chef - Italy
Rice paddy man / woman - China, but covers lots of Asia
    Snake charmer - India

  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,941
^I think the lederhosen guy is a cert. A snake charmer would be good, I just think they get into a tricky situation when a fig should obviously be not yellow, though I guess it could work.

The only downside of the Lederhosen Man would be the beer stein - alcohol related. Even better would be a Lederhosen woman, with two jugs. Ahem.

^ Would help with my never-gonna-happen where eagles dare MOC too.

You mean this thread isn't about boobs, alcohol and lederhosen?!

Ah! Well if we are going down that road then I suggest that in one of the next CMF series TLG put a traditional Dutch girl, wearing some sort of traditional/folklore dress and one of those typical white hats with flaps, mirrors etc. AND of course on her feet actual Lego 'klompen' (Dutch word for wooden clogs) carrying a bunch of tulips.

But then again as I am an Amsterdammer and a 'city slicker' and have never even had a pair of clogs on my feet, might I suggest for series 8 or the next series to include a pothead, a hooker, and a pimp. Or perhaps a combination of all the above mentioned?!

  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,941
Not sure about the smoking, but the classic dutch girl I could see. They could reuse the riding hood basket as well. Clogs could be tricky though.

    ^^ My dream girl.

    LOL.

Chinese warrior just like the terracotta warriors or Chinese emperor.

BTW if you are a CMF collector, there is a recent DK Lego sticker book out, it contains all CMF from series 1 to 7. It was really fun playing with the stickers. There are lots of extras to stick elsewhere too.

How about a plain housewife/mother or father with a baby on baby bjorn or a stroller? That's most of us AFOLs ... when we're not playing with Lego. (or that's what I assume anyway).

That way we'll get a baby lego minifigure!

Actual this idea would be pretty cool and could even go a step further.... think of "It's a Small World" and that international cast of characters. A male & female representation in a variety of ethnic/cultural outfits.

^ Like but now I have the song in my head... thought I'd suppressed all knowledge of it now that it's 8 years since I worked at Disneyland Paris and heard it ad nauseam...

LEGO has announced the first minifig of series 8. It's going to be a pirate:

Come on, sing along with me...
    It's a world of laughter,
    A world of tears.
    It's a world of hopes,
    And a world of fears.
There's so much that we share,
    That it's time we're aware,
It's a LEGO world after all.

    CHORUS:
It's a LEGO world after all
It's a LEGO world after all
It's a LEGO world after all
    It's a LEGO, LEGO world

It would be banned from my house, but I think it'd be a neat idea and give it a thumbs up.

But speaking of CMF, I really think a lot of people would be all over a Small World series of minifigs.... I mean, you have all the Disneyphiles out there that would buy them up. Plus, I think Disney and LEGO would both win if they collaberated on Disney character minifigs (and playsets).

Like Pirates of the Caribbean? Oh wait...
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
It gets in your head and won't go away, it's like a virus!!
Actually though, It's A Small World is not so infectious as the parade theme I had to endure day in day out (I worked in a shop on the parade route) - "Dancin' - A Catchy Rhythm" - anyone know it??
For some unknown reason, I bought CDs of both songs before I left - there must've been a subliminal brainwashy message hidden in there...

  • RobbRobb Member Posts: 144
^^ If they had a LEGO set with (classic yellow) minifigs sitting in a mini-boat going through the PoTC Disneyland ride, I would actually consider buying that. However, the actual PoTC sets... not so much.

^^^^ I know that LEGO already does some Disney Princess themes with Duplo, but it would really rock my socks if they came out with, like, Cinderella's Castle or something like that - as long as they do real minifigs and not minidolls!
  • SpaceCakeSpaceCake Member Posts: 291
    No! No more Disney/LEGO frankenthemes!!!

    It is heresy!!!!

^The famous vampire hunter? Wouldn't that fit more with Monster Fighters? :P
