I quite like the daredevil and evil knight, and if there's the odd part I don't like, or think is lacking I just 'upgrade them' myself! (eg add a cape, change a weapon).

Now that the Avengers, LOTR and Olympic news has all passed, isn't it time we had a series 8 glimpse/'leak'?!

    Zulu Warrior.

Has to happen. Otherwise I'm calling Lego out for being racist!
They have an Aztec warrior, a Samuri and a Ninja, a Flamenco dancer and a Mariachi that I know of off hand. Collectible Minifigures are not licenced themes so all the flesh colors are yellow, just like classic Lego.

  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
We need another warrior ... I'd like a chinese or mongolian one.

Or maybe a terracotta warrior, that would be cool. And you'd need to collect 1000s.

That is not to say that a black minifigure is out of the question though. Not all the CMF's are yellow-skinned, after all.

I know, I know. Two are technically "monsters" and the mime is supposed to have painted skin, like the geisha. But c'mon, Zulu Warrior would be ace. Not to mention the fact that it would be hugely different from all the other ancient warrior CMFs. It's not like they're short of brown plastic (as far as I'm aware)!
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
I agree a Zulu Warrior would be great.

Yes, the Mime has a painted face. The Zombie is gray because it is dead and the Werewolf is brown because it is representing his fur. I don't think these examples count. They also have 2 Native Americans (I am part Native American) and a Geisha. I wouldn't say Lego is racist.

Ok. We need to get back on topic :-)

Do you think we'll see any of the Monster Fighters figs as CMF? We have seen the mummy, Frankenstien and vampire in earlier series. Maybe the creature from the black lagoon from 9461 or the werewolf from 9462?
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
They already have a werewolf in the CMF series.

I'd love to see a Disney and Pixar offshoot- Snow White, Belle, Beast, Aurora, Maleficent, Mike, Sulley, the Incredibles, Kingini, Colette, Skinner, Remy... It'll never happen though.

    My series 8 list:
    1) Rock N' Roll King (Elvis: Series 6's mechanic Hair, and bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626cpb642 and a regualr guitar)
    2) Female Hippie (Like series 7 but female. Comes with picket sign that says: Make LEGO Models, not War!
    3) Ocean Liner Captain (for the series 4 sailor: dark blue Police hat, bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=973pb294c01 , dark blue pants, and a series 3 pilots head. Could come with printed 2x2 tile that says "Telegram: Iceberg's ahead")
    4) Groom (for the series 7 bride) wth (LOTR style) ring
    5) Disco Diva (female companion for series 2's Disco Dude) and a 2x2 round tile printed record to go with the "Brick Fever" album jacket.
    6) The Maniac (LEGO logo on a red T-shirt with blue pants, series 3 race car driver hair in tan & comes with a painted Statue that looks like the Maniac.
    7) Female Tribal Native (along the lines of series 1's Tribal hunter & Series 3's tribal chief Couldn't think of anything to go with this one.)
    8) The Boss: series 5's gangster boss with $100 bill and 2x2 printed tile with PROFITS and a red line going up.
    9) Fitness Master: like Series 5's female fitness master, but male.
    10) Flamenco Man: partner of series 6's Flamenco Dancer
    11) Male Surgeon: Series 6's Surgeon, but male
    12) Swimming Coach (come with 2x2 tile with stop-watch and chart print and a shirt with "Coach" and a towel printed on it)
    13) Male Zookepeer (has peice of meat from series 6's Butcher
    14) Forest woman: Female forestman, comes with Golden-ish goblet.
    15) Ancient Emporer: Roman Emporer in toga. come with wreath hair piece and grapes
    16) Vampire Bride: Monster Fighter's has one, why not Collectible Minifigs?

    ...Anything I'm missing?

    ^^ @murdoch17

I think your suggestions are good, I've made my suggestions in bold!

    1) Rock N' Roll King (Elvis: Series 6's mechanic Hair or superman hairand a regular guitar WANT!)
    2) Female Hippie (Like series 7 but female. Comes with picket sign would be a great accessory, maybe just a peace signthat says: Make LEGO Models, not War!
    3) Ocean Liner Captain - I'd go for a generic 'Sea Captain'
    4) Groom (for the series 7 bride) wth (LOTR style) ring
    5) Disco Diva (female companion for series 2's Disco Dude) and a 2x2 round tile printed record to go with the "Brick Fever" album jacket. A roller disco girl would be great, re-use the afro and new skate mould.
    6) The Maniac (LEGO logo on a red T-shirt with blue pants, series 3 race car driver hair in tan & comes with a painted Statue that looks like the Maniac. What is this?
    7) Female Tribal Native (along the lines of series 1's Tribal hunter & Series 3's tribal chief Couldn't think of anything to go with this one.) An indian squaw (apologies if that's a hugely offensive term) with baby on back would be ace. Or a Pocohontas type dress and animal partner.
    8) The Boss: series 5's gangster boss with $100 bill and 2x2 printed tile with PROFITS and a red line going up. Maybe just a 'Rich guy'. Bowler hat, monocle bag of money. The profits thing might be a bit insensitive in this current climate
    9) Fitness Master: like Series 5's female fitness master, but male.
    10) Flamenco Man: partner of series 6's Flamenco Dancer. I'd prefer a matador/zorro type
    11) Male Surgeon: Series 6's Surgeon, but male Male doctor, with lollipop?
    12) Swimming Coach (come with 2x2 tile with stop-watch and chart print and a shirt with "Coach" and a towel printed on it) maybe just a generic sports coach, with loud hailer
    13) Male Zookepeer (has piece of meat from series 6's Butcher) or a 'Safari Guy'. Fedora hat, parrot or snake accessory
    14) Forest woman: Female forestman, comes with Golden-ish goblet. A female elf, in the style of series 3 elf, would be great
    15) Ancient Emporer: Roman Emporer in toga. come with wreath hair piece and grapes
    16) Vampire Bride: Monster Fighter's has one, why not Collectible Minifigs? I'd switch for a bride of Frankenstein.

    ...Anything I'm missing?

I'd prefer new characters, rather than male versions of previous female ones or vice versa.

These are Lego minifigs, it is not hard to take the head off and replace it with another one of your choice.

Unless they are a female character where TLG has annoyingly printed a curved waistline, or unnecessary cleavage!

And I'd like cow-suit man, with additional udders strapped on the front.
I fear this wouldn't be very popular, given that I think it's the best idea ever, and I don't have a great record for backing winners when it comes to CMFs.

^ Perverse udder fixated boys would love it. I reckon it would do very well! But I know it will never be made.

It would be so cool to have a set of Cow and Chicken style udders ...

How about a buddhist monk? Would it violate LEGO's non-religious policy? Most likely it would I think.
  • mressinmressin Member Posts: 843
    - I still believe that sooner or later, we will see an evil genie in red.
    - How about Justitia?
    - A James Bond-style secret agent with glasses, gun and tuxedo.
    - Some kind of construction cyborg?
    - A Lego-branded superhero in a jumpsuit.
  • SilentModeSilentMode Member Posts: 586
I've already predicted that there'll be a Golfer in S8, but only time will tell.

So far I'm liking the secret agent, terracotta army soldier and cow suit(!) ideas, and those are just the ones I've seen on here. Here's a few more I'd like to see:

    - female librarian
    - Bruce Lee-like martial artist
    - Shaolin monk
    - alternate cheerleader
    - fairy
    - inventor-type dude
    - fighter jet pilot
    - referree
    - sheep suit guy/girl
    - backpacker/traveller.

So does anyone have any idea when CMF Series 8 will come out???

In the UK series 7 was released in stores end of March, according to posts found in the thread of this topic:
    bricksetforum.com/discussion/4004/series-7-cmf/p2

I often wonder why there are such huge time gaps between the release of certain Lego products between one country end the next or even entire continents for that matter?!

Here in The Netherlands, series 7 was released only at the beginning of this month (May). So a couple of weeks a go I went to a couple of toy-stores and a department-store here in Amsterdam, where I live, to find and buy all sixteen of them. Going through the cumbersome and somewhat awkward task of feeling all the baggies in the display box at the register, with on one occasion an employee of the store assisting me feel up all these baggies too. Annoyed not being able to determine what was what, she took out a pair of scissors from behind the counter, and just started opening a bunch herself, asking me if those were the ones I was still looking for, at which I perhaps unfortunately for her said "nope! Sorry I think I already got that one", even though she did actually also open a baggy with an Evil Knight, which I did not mind getting double, however I declined as part of the fun is opening the packaging and putting together the minifig yourself. Another shop assistant, after scrutinizing me for a while, told me, I reminded her of her little seven year old brother, who apparently also did this. Undeterred by all the prying eyes inside the store from both customers as well as staff, I proceeded by sense of touch deciphering which minifig was which until I was certain I had them all (of course still ending up with a some duplicates too), thinking to myself 'right now being an AFOL really sucks'. Never the less, I now am the proud and relieved owner of the latest complete CMF series.

Anyway, the real big question for now is; does anyone already have any clue about what kind of minifigures will be in series 8, and when they will be released?
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
Does seem strange that there has been very little talk of Series 8, when Series 7 was known about months and months ahead of time.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
Series 6 and 7 images were leaked on the same day (Oct. 14). So should we expect to see images of both S8 and S9 together?
  • CurvedRoadPlateCurvedRoadPlate Member Posts: 257
Isn't series 8 the London Olympic series or is that series 7.5?
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
^ 7.5 as it is not available worldwide.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,941
@thebiglegoski series 7 was released early in the UK to give enough time between them and the Olympic CMFs. I think series 8 is due after the summer (September)? So maybe will get a hint during the summer (after the Olympic fig release).
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
Yes, series 7 was early in the UK so as not to conflict with the Team GB series. I have heard also that S8 is due in September. Such a long gap!

I know some people complain that 3 series / 48 minifigs per year is too much, but if there is a gap of six months between each, then it feels so long! It is understandable for large expensive models in a series like the modulars, but for cheap little minifigs it does seem a long time.

I like uniformed CMFs you can build troops of.

    Canadian Mountie
    Boy Scout
    Girl Scout
    Cub Scout
    Girl Guide
    British Policeman (the classic hat)
Yeoman Guard (that's Tower of London Beefeaters).

    Ecologist (with frog)
    Rock Climber
    Knight
    Pirate
    Baker
    AFOL
    TFOL
    KFOL

    CMFs you should never see:
    Drug Dealer
    Pimp
    Wino
    Prostitute
    Genocidal Mercenary
    Media Tycoon
    Politician

This has definitely felt like the longest gap between series.. I'm not counting Team GB as an installment.. I'm from the US so they don't interest me at all.. and I find them pretty silly.. I log on my computer just about every week and search CMF series 8 in hopes that an image has cropped up on some obscure website.. but no dice.. I know it's only a matter of time, but the wait is killing me.. at the very least a rumor (like we had with S6) would be excellent - and those turned out to be true.. between waiting for these, WWDC, and E3 I'm pulling my hair out with anticipation.. ok.. a little exaggerated.. but I hate waiting.

    Thanks for the info!

Some of the Olympic minifigs look really quite nice, but as they are (probably) not for sale outside the UK, unless you buy them on Ebay e.g., I most likely won't be getting any of them.
    image

I actually like the majority of them pretty much. Especially the boxer, relay racer (with baton), the archer, and the Judoka. No idea though what type of athlete/sport the figure on the far left is supposed to represent?!? If he is supposed to be a weightlifter where is his barbell? Or is he perhaps a wrestler?

I do hope for anyone who will get them, that they all have double prints on their torso's, it is always quite a bummer when they only have a print on their tummy, when other CMF's have prints on both their front and back as well as their arms, and even the sides of their legs.

Moreover, I think printing on the sides of the legs (when they have a print on the legs of course to start with), as well as the back of the torso should become the standard for all minifig's, also for the one's included in all the sets.
