rolyateel - Were you ever told your R2 was out of stock and not to expect it until 24th or similar? They were "in stock" when I placed my order, just wondering as if you were told same as me and you have yours, mine might be on its way now.
I had an email 3 days ago saying it had shipped.
I guess you'll get one when yours ships

Given the reports of the dual TC-14's (in lieu of MF+poster) I have to wonder just how many TC-14's were produced. And will that drive down the prices for them? They are chrome, after all, and shiny MF's tend to stay higher priced... but these are clearly not the Chrome Gold C-3PO's...
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
One of my orders says the R2D2 poster and TIE fighter are on back order. I hope they send an extra TC-14 instead.
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
What other MF's have only been available for a few days?
  • Brewer51Brewer51 Member Posts: 248
What's the speculation on the TC-14 in regards of how long to wait, increase in value etc? This is the first thing I've ever planned on re-selling.

It totally depends on how quick you want a return. I think it is too late now for an early return, since eBay is flooded with them. You'll get £16-18 now, or leave it for a year and get an extra fiver.

^ My speculation based on previous promos is the TC-14 will hover around $30 for at least 3 years.

    Current prices on Bricklink
    - Chrome Storm Trooper (2009, avg $24)
    - White Boba Fett (2010, avg $35)
    - Shadow Arf (2011, avg $23)
    - Darth Maul (2012, avg $32)
    - TC-14 (2012, avg $30)

Well I got my last May 4th order today (Avengers stuff), and a letter which reads

    "Dear Lego Fan,

We apologise, but due to extraordinary popularity of our May 4th promotional offer, we have now run out of stock of the Lego Star Wars R2D2 posters.

As the poster could not be included with your order, we have replaced it with a second TC-14 Minifigure and a reusable Lego Tote bag as our way of apologising for any inconvenience caused.

Your Lego Shop at Home Team"

There were 2 TC-14s, a Tie fighter and a red tote bag included - Champion!

I got shipped the freebies on my in-stasis UCS R2 order separately and have received them, so maybe they won't send a TC-14 out by way of apology for it's lateness when it finally ships. I wish all my stuff had been late if they were treated the same way as today's arrival!
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,637
Dang, I wish my stuff had shipped late so I would have gotten an extra TC14 or two instead of some lame posters. O well
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
@Vwong19: I would expect return on the TC-14s to be related to it's rarity as well as the fact it suits chrome. How rare are Chrome Storm troopers, White Bobs and the common as muck Shadow Arf in terms of how many were handed out, how many could be bought for a few quid/bucks etc? Out of the figures you mention I think Darth Maul and TC-14 will be the rarest, which should help their value.
  • vwong19vwong19 Member Posts: 1,191
@monkeyhanger - I understand that it basically comes down to supply and demand. Lego always seem to have a way of finding hidden stock of these so-called rare minfigs... clearly the demand for TC-14 is relatively low as many people who wanted the figure already got it during the promotion and the prices will only drop before they recover.

    Based on Brickset
    - Chrome Gold C-3PO (2007, avg $340, Have: 148, Want: 375)
    - Chrome Storm Trooper (2009, avg $24, Have: 1023, Want: 518)
    - White Boba Fett (2010, avg $35, Have: 464, Want: 582)
    - Shadow Arf (2011, avg $23, Have: 976, Want: 581)
    - Darth Maul (2012, avg $32, Have: 91, Want: 458)
    - TC-14 (2012, avg $30, Have: 634, Want: 162)

^Missing the Black Chrome Vader on the list, ranging about $50 or more right now.
  • vwong19vwong19 Member Posts: 1,191
I clearly am not a die-hard Star Wars fan so I don't collect these items... although I did pick up a few of the TC-14 during the promo... looking on the list below, the TC-14 is a solid $30 and the Darth Maul could get scary high if an infusion of stock isn't added.

    Based on Brickset/Bricklink Data
    - Chrome Gold C-3PO (2007, avg $340, Have: 148, Want: 375)
    - Chrome Darth Vader (2009, avg $48, Have: 735, Want: 830)
    - Chrome Storm Trooper (2009, avg $24, Have: 1023, Want: 518)
    - White Boba Fett (2010, avg $35, Have: 464, Want: 582)
    - Shadow Arf (2011, avg $23, Have: 976, Want: 581)
    - Darth Maul (2012, avg $32, Have: 91, Want: 458)
    - TC-14 (2012, avg $30, Have: 634, Want: 162)

While waiting can bring higher prices, never underestimate the annual percentage return on selling them the first week.

So you can sell for $30 today, or "perhaps" $60 in a year.

Even if the price doubles in a year, selling them in one day is still a much better return on investment.

I have to say I am feeling rather lucky. :)
The customer service team could not send me a poster...... so they sent me an extra Chrome TC-14 and a fold up bag along with a Tie fighter.

    " Perhaps" is right.
People also assume they will not be re-released within the next year as well, which may make them worth less and not more.

Another free T-14 here. I actually placed 3 orders at 6am on the 4th. 2 orders turned up the following week, the other late one today. Another figure to go in my rare figure box =)

This. Ive been thinking of buying one for the $30-$50 range before this happens.

Looking for the Darth Maul fig if anyone has one for trade.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
For the people that got a second TC-14, did your order go backordered?

    My order now says:
    5001167 LEGO® Exclusive R2-D2™ Poster & Mini TIE Fighter™ Backordered

I emailed to ask for a delivery date and they just said end of June. I hope they don't print more posters!
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
CCC: Might depend on where you are as to how TLG will treat the out of stock situation. I'm in the UK and so are a few others who got an extra TC-14 and tote bag. My order never went "backordered", it just stayed "in process" for an eternity. For the UCS R2 (That was in stock when I placed the order, but out of stock a few days into "in process") the R2 is on backorder to be fulfilled 24th May, but the promotional freebies shipped separately within a few days of order placement.
  • BoiseStateBoiseState Member Posts: 804
Got my R2 today. I was originally told it was backordered until the end of May.
  • Brewer51Brewer51 Member Posts: 248
    @CCC

My order is backordered. The R2 won't be here til the end of May by the looks of things, but I have my two TC-14's, Tie Fighter and Lego bag...thing.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
@monkeyhanger I'm in the UK. It is the poster/tie fighter that has gone backordered for me. The order and the TC-14 has shipped. This suggests they think they will be getting more posters/tie fighters in.

Did everyone getting the extra TC-14 have a big item such as the UCS R2 backordered / delayed?
  • DadDad Member Posts: 816
I'm in the UK..... My two late non Star Wars orders ( Super Heroes @ £52 per order ) arrived yesterday, just opened them now and both have no poster but 2 TC-14s', a tie fighter and a tote bag in each. Suits me just fine.. Happy days!

  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453

Sold his first one for £4.99......
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
CCC: I got a tie on the order I didn't get a poster for, I don't think there is a tie shortage - they're giving them away with the Sun next week. I have no interest in the Ties I have, i'll be opening them up for the parts, they're worth nowt on ebay. Don't see there being any more posters as they were numbered in a limited production run.

I'm hoping my late R2 comes with a TC-14 (even though I already got the freebies for that order) or some other gesture for the fact it was supposedly in stock when ordered on the 4th, but later became back ordered until the 24th. If not i'll regret not cancelling it and scoring for a hulk minifig on the reorder.

Exactly the same for me. I'm in the UK, order stayed "in process" for 10 days (no "backordered" etc) and when my parcel arrived I had the deep joy of finding a charming letter from LEGO to the effect of: "We ran out of posters, so have another TC-14!".
  • SiESiE Member Posts: 238
Its probably legit. I got 5 Shadow ARF's just after the promo for £11 each. Ive bought a few to keep, he has good feedback and its through paypal if it is a scam. Ive already got a maul off here to keep but I wanted a few to put away with the rest of my limited editions.

I got one of the French R2D2 posters so phoned up LEGO to get an English language replacement. I was told that they have run out but they'd see what they could do.

After reading this thread I was looking forward to getting a TC-14 instead. Today my poster* turned up. Great, go me.

*Unmarked with limited edition numbers so I suppose in consolation I can write my own "1 of 20398".

    @mountebank:
would you be interested in trading your French R2D2 poster for an English, limited edition one? My kids are learning French, so I'd love to get this for them.
    I live in the US.

Wow, thanks for the tip I thought that the posters where all the same, Just noticed mines in German :( Yuck!

Is the poster with all the SW minifies worth anything by now?

It would appear the infusion of stock is coming in Europe at least... waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Didn't get anything extra for my damaged product. Im glad to see that some of you got rewarded for your frustration.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
Pitfall: might depend how you went about your complaint. I always find Lego offer freebies readily if you're talking to them on the phone about an issue, never had a goodwill gesture chasing up by email though.

Our store (Sacramento, CA) is expecting R2-D2 in their next shipment. We got ours, but I know they ran out the afternoon of the 4th so those who didn't get there in time will be happy.

Received another poster via email when the one was damaged, and received a CMF IT guy head when it was missing when I contacted LEGO via email.
  • Pitfall69Pitfall69 Member Posts: 11,454
I emailed them and they sent me back an email to contact them via phone. I called and was very pleasant with them. I received my replacement IS within 2 days and mailed the damaged one back to them the next day. I didn't expect anything free or extra, but it is time consuming to repack and drive to the post office and wait in line with a large box. Especially with a 2 year old.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,791
Considering they sent another set at all and I presume they paid for the postage back, Id say that is a pretty nice deal. If they did not pay for the postage back then Id say that is a lousy deal.
But considering you can either get an RMA from LEGO in which you just drop it off at the PO desk, or you can pay for postage online, and then do the same. I'm not sure why you had to stand in line... but maybe I'm just lucky with my Post Office that I do not have to do that.

I've been watching the price on eBay UK. Some have been going for as little as £12, seems about £15-16 is average for the TC-14.

Re: Shirtless Darth Mauls - In case you havne't seen on other threads. Smyths toystore in the UK is giving them away with any SW set. So a battle pack for £9 / £10 gets you a free Maul.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
My "LEGO® Exclusive R2-D2™ Poster & Mini TIE Fighter™" was put on backorder (UK). I now have an email saying it has been shipped. Will it be the poster and TIE, or will it be an extra TC-14? We'll have to wait and see.

My replacement poster (for a french one) should arrive any day - been shipped for a while. I'm now seriously hoping that I'll get a TC14 instead - but just know I'm going to be disappointed (and get what I should get).
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,791
^--LOL, funny when you hear yourself say something like that you realize "Whats wrong with me?" :-)
I felt the same way I got a replacement poster for one of the damaged ones and not a TC-14 (then again I have not received the poster yet so I may need to go back to LEGO and complain)

Got home to find a tc14 and tote bag in place of the English poster. To say i'm distraught would be an understatement! ;)

    ^ Fingers crossed here then!

When mine went backordered, I asked by email how long it will be. They reckoned end of June. Hopefully the early ship date means they have substituted.

If the posters have run out, I wonder how many TC-14s there are. Weren't their meant to be 20K or so UK posters, same for US and a similar number for Europe / France / Germany?
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,384
One of my 4th May orders shipped with delivery note for TIE and TC-14 but they weren't in box.
Email to Lego and today I got 2 x TIEs, 2 x TC-14 and tote bag.
    Nice one TLG :)
