Just about to start Day 3 of building 10188. Finished Box 1 last night, 3 to go! Been taking it leisurely, in no rush to finish :)

Only one gripe so far, which is that I seem to have gotten a colour substitution in one of the cheese slopes - an extra black in place of a missing grey. Thankfully I had spares in storage. From the inventory it seems that there will be loads more later, here's hoping for a spare to balance it up.

Just received a big brown box from Lego - should have my VW Camper in it (+ TC-14 and a poster).
Fortunately Mrs Legopants was out when it arrived, otherwise there would've been hell to pay :-)

@SpaceCake Im starting to get excited and impatient for you as well (Im having to feed my lego addiction vicariously through you). I hate it when lego takes forever to arrive. Especially if its going through Customs

@Si_Dorking_Surrey_UK Arrrrgh! I'm behind schedule clearly!
  • caperberrycaperberry Member Posts: 2,226
Have spent tonight amending my model to make it affordable to buy on BL. Interesting process but a bit depressing.

^^ not half as behind schedule as I am! It reads like a wish list at the moment.
Im also thinking I might need to hire a van to shift it all ...

10190 and 10182 have been dis-assembled and washed. Our 90 degree weather dried them quickly and hubby is sorting the pieces in anticipation of rebuilding it. Turns out of the two sets we have 4 incorrect minifigs and one piece missing, a black whip and those can be replaced for a reasonable amount. The few other pieces missing we had in our bulk Lego. Rebuilding commences now!

My TC-14 on back order is shipping!
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
My husband built the VW bus. Wish it had numbered bags and a brick seperator for the price. Being an adult building it, doesn't mean you aren't prone to mistakes.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@starfire2 So VW has no numbered bags? Bummer! I was hoping it would so when I get it, it wouldn't be that bad to do lol. I was amazed that Tower Bridge didn't have numbered bags too. THAT was a nightmare to seperate since my building table is only a round kitchen table. Ended up having to sit on floor with the bricks allseperated
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
It was easier to deal with when you seperated the colors. But, yeah I was seriously bummed seeing that. For 1,332 pieces, I would think they should have numbered the bags. Oh well, still was fun building a van for my hippie toddlers!
  • MinifigsMeMinifigsMe Member Posts: 2,844
@justin_tolerable is taking his first steps in and I'm budding the mini modulars, which have amazing build techniques. Just coz the pieces are small the time taken is still as long as a bigger set. Very pleased with them. I like that they won't take up much space either!

The mindstorms btw was an excellent condition, £110 on eBay buy for those who knew I kept saying no coz it's too expensive, hard to resist at that price!

Off to the Brighton Lego store in a bit to see what's on their wall, house sitting down south for a few days :)

^pants! Missed out that nick is doing mindstorms! Can't edit as on my phone!

Seven days straight and my S@H order still has not shipped.

I'm seriously hoping they don't have similar delays with the Marvel promo on wednesday, or else they're going to literally drown in the workload.

At this rate my orders are going to be arriving at the same time some time in 2013...

I wanted to build 6211 (the Star Destroyer), which I bought several months ago at a good price on an auction. The description said that they started to build it and then gave up and that many of the bags where still sealed. However I found out that some of the initial pieces (page 1!) were missing. So I spent ALL DAY counting and sorting each part type.. Hope that TLG will rescue me...

Have been trying to sort and store random bits from a grab bag but keep getting distracted by the afternoon's drama/insanity in the Premiership!!

@Savage_Steel How awesome are the mini mods?! I love them so. What happened to SSD?
  • MinifigsMeMinifigsMe Member Posts: 2,844
@caperberry - ssd is on back order :-( mods are amazing! I want to make more!

Got a grab bag from Brighton that they made up for me. V nice helpful staff. Will be visiting every day while I'm down here I think! No windows in the PAB though :(
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
@savage_steel - if I make it to Shepherd Bush again soon I can try and pick you up some. They had white square frames and trans clear panes.

STILL waiting for my stuff to ship from Lego.

Anybody else having a similar experience? I called CS and they assured me that it was in the warehouse (the complete order, nothing missing) ready to be shipped. Everything is still listed as "In Process" with no expected ship date.

    What the hell...
  • AvengerDrAvengerDr Member Posts: 453
I built the new Y-Wing (9495) yesterday that I bought the 4th. What an amazing set. Judging by the box I thought it would be way smaller.. I was also really surprised by the ingenious way they had the engine support bars clip to the.. uhmm actual engine? That was the most boring part of the build, but it was really clever.

Unfortunately while building, one of the long technic pins used for the forward guns (that has to fit inside one of the two cones) bent itself while pushing it inside. It seemed to be too wide to fit in..

Thinking about how many GE's to order and when.
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
@stagus Currently out of stock but you can still order it

    http://www.amazon.es/LEGO-4657559-10211-Grand-Emporium/dp/B0033PSLUK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337008348&sr=8-1

Cracking price and they don't charge your card until in stock. Could be worth a punt.

Early day for work. Got home to find 2 bricklink orders in the mail, finished the first floor of cafe corner and last bits for an old bulk buy MTT. Then my May 4th shipments showed up with IS,T1 both posters and 2 TC-14's. Everything in perfect shape! Quiet kids, Dad's building.

Thought bubbles while contemplating Avenger's Quinjet:

Before Build - 'Super excited to build it, looks nice on the box and looked even better in the movie'
During Build - 'Solid frame, ugly shape for wings, smaller than thought, uh-oh feels like regret creeping in'
After Build - 'Final steps were saving grace and finished model is pleasing after all main components are put together, making wings more proportionate. Tail wings and turbines were nice. Size ended up being reasonable. But need a UCS version to do the real thing justice.'
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^^All the more reason to indulge on both holidays. I wish you a grand time with the IS and VW. The kids should be blown away by how epic they both look once done.

Orc Forge set from Target.com arrived today at my doorstep. The free poster that comes with it is the Gollum one.

    image

It's also possible the poster is a random draw (one of Gollum, Legolas, Aragorn, Frodo, etc.). Anyone else get one?

Bought this t-shirt on sale 6 years ago (2006) at the LEGO Store in Downtown Disney and finally grew into it. XL was the only size they had.

Finished up the Grand Emporium tonight. The set looks great, but the last floor was very tedious.

Next up is the UCS R2-D2. Can't wait to get working on that one.

    It's been 10 days now.

    :(

@spacecake - that does sound like a very long time to me (but then I have very little patience when waiting for Lego parcels to arrive :-))
I think you should give CS a call and see if they know what the hold-up is.

So I just spoke to CS on the phone and the (absolutely charming) lady on the phone told me that they are running about 5 working days behind schedule as a result of May the 4th, so I should expect delivery between the 18th and 24th of May.

Incidentally we had a bit of a chat about the Hulk minifigure promo and she told me that they've had an unbelievable amount of attention directed towards it. Apparently people have been hassling them about it for the last two months!

To those of you who are (like me) planning on grabbing a Hulk, it would seem that the advice is to get the order in ASAP, despite the long duration of the promotion. I'm sure this is common logic to most of you but I just thought a heads-up would be worth putting out there.

I wonder how this will affect the value and desirability of the minifig? It would seem that this one has actually attracted more attention than May the 4th...

    Exciting stuff, to be sure!

Received a BL order for a ship MOC. Also, picked up a Mindstorms NXT 2.0 from CL. The NXT is probably going to eat into MOCing though I had to get it as it was being sold at a very good price.
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
    What type of ship MoC?
    just finishing mine ...

  • aimlesspursuitsaimlesspursuits Member Posts: 207
^ Got some QAR hull pieces from LEGO store grab bags so I started building a pirate ship. Couldn't get all the hull pieces so it'll be a smaller vessel and a bit of a hybrid design.

I'd be interested in seeing pictures when you finish.
