    "Status: Swearing off Bricklinking projects"

Last night started piecing together Cafe Corner using inventory pieces. 1 Hour later the project was scrapped altogether, as realization started to sink in about how painful and time-consuming it would be to go all the way to completion =( It just was not worth it based on the amount of effort and time alone, not even accounting for the cost in money either. Much better to drop the gauntlet and have 100% of the pieces accounted for, sorted and in perfect new condition. You end up with the real thing and not a substituted version, while saving many hours of your life in the process.
  • Si_UKNZSi_UKNZ Member Posts: 4,179
^ Yep. Having done it myself, I came to the same conclusion. Sometimes people just need to try it first to realise ;o)

The _really_ smart people are the ones who're selling bricks at ridiculous prices to people who are trying to bricklink old modulars :)

Annoyed, £22 charge from LEGO on my credit card statement this month for an order which does not exist, phoned LEGO customer services who are are currently denying all knowledge of the charge.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Also annoyed. Just checked that I got repaid for a cancelled order in March - Lego hadn't refunded me..... :(
  • pantboypantboy Member Posts: 211
^ they did that to me once before too, when it was finally sorted customer services said they would add 100 VIP points to my account, they never turned up either.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Well there is an upside. Its £60 coming in that I assumed I'd already spent. More lego!

  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
My last 3 BL orders finally made it here with the last parts I need to build my MOC church. Only took like 10 orders total after having missing parts from orders just get the $0.10 refunded and having to make another order to get them or making orders to find that they didn't have the one rarer part that was the reason I chose their store to begin with.
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@graphite I TOTALLY understand that! I had the same thing happen with me completely a Dumbledore's Office I received most of in a lot sale, I STILL need the dark grey 8x16 base for the second level and the store I ordered it from emailed me that they didn't have it so they threw in 2 8x16 green bases. Green does not look good in Dumbledore's Office, lol. Now maybe Snape's room it would :)

But ticked off that those purchases dictated I pass on the craigslist ad for Market Street at only $80.00. Guess it's true I can't have it all!

Received my used Chamber of Secrets yesterday (eBay) - gonna see which parts are missing and then put in a BrickLink order.
At least Fawkes and the MFs are all there :-)

Ordered the VW Camper the other day (mainly to get the TC-14) - really looking forward to getting it. Should be a good build :-)

    /recites LEGO mantra:

Sacrifice the present, for presents in the future

Just gotta get through nursing school and endure this soup-5x/week-budget for another 18 months, and then hopefully I'll be able to buy all most of the LEGO that I want.

Thinking to myself; "is it wrong to think that, while I look at jobs for my year out, that the wage needs to be enough to allow me to buy the modulars?"

On the way home after a great day at the LEGO show. The mosaic looked awesome and it was only about half finished when we left.
