Note the $10 off $50 works for some sets. Still not much help with these prices.

You can never mark up too soon or too much at TRU! ;o)

Note the Ninjago and Monster Fighter sets are selling out faster than the LotR. Just to remind you who the market is.

I wanted to get the ghost train, but it seems to be priced pretty high at $85. I think I'll wait for a BOGO50 at TRU or wait for Amazon .uk/.fr/.es to carry it and order in bulk with some other sets I've been wanting in order to save a few $$.

I was also hoping the 10228 Haunted House would be included with the summer release, but it looks like we'll have to wait on that one!

I was about to say: Now take off 5% for smaller sets and 10% for the larger and those are the real prices from LEGO...lol
As much as I want to see a BOGO50 I do not want to see one now after the May the 4th sale...

Because a few days of sales will determine the entire line success.
Im guessing Ninjago will always do well, as it it has the power of a cartoon behind it, and Monster hunters looks like a fun set (Ill just be waiting for a sale)

^^ well, I don't think 10228 is slated to be with summer release anyway, but even if it was, it wouldn't show up at TRU anyway, since it's a LEGO Direct set. I'm still betting against it being MF branded anyway. My bet is 10228 is a 9/1 release at LEGO stores.

Shipping from TOYRUS, and directly to your friendly ebay seller no doubt.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ I'll be placing the figs I get on Bricklink. May already have a buyer though.

the LOTR sets aren't really "in stock for shipping" are they?
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
^They were, but went out of stock pretty quickly.

Sorry for the newb question but in regards to new stuff

Will TLG release waves of new sets (star wars or superheroes I am most interested in) more after summer prior to Christmas? Or have we seen everything that is planned for 2012 release already?

We have seen most of what Lego will release this year apart from a few exclusives and seasonal sets, but we will likely see several 2013 themes available in stores a few weeks before christmas.

The LotR, Monster Fighters, and Ninjago sets are all in stock (except the Vampire Castle MF set) on the ToysRUs web site.

Is the 20% (ish) markup really worth picking these up a month early, though?
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
    ^ not to me. ;-)
  • aplbomr79aplbomr79 Member Posts: 159
Wow! I Know that this is TRU, but WOW! Some of the prices are ridiculous! Gandalf Arrives at $17? I was expecting maybe $12-13... Seaside House at $55?

I guess I will be waiting on clearance or Ebay to get some of these sets...

^Gandalf Arrives already retails for $12.99, so that mark-up doesn't surprise me much. But Mines of Moria at $99.99??? That's insane. (And yes... I realize the percentage is greater on the Gandalf set... but $4 is a bit easier to swallow than $20).
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
How about $80 for Weathertop (which I believe is $50 MSRP) or $160 for Helm's Deep (which I believe is $130 MSRP). These are both now available for unbelievable prices as well.

It looks like target.com has the LOTR sets available for shipping now (without the TRU markup)
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ Excellent. Release date next Wednesday.

LotR, S7 CMF, Avengers, Monster Fighters, City Mining

I am running out of money. :o)
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@yellowcastle I am PAST running out lol. AND I have vacation with my daughters in 3 wks as well as hip surgery in 5 wks. It will be the first time I have seen my girls since Christmas. I can't wait!!!

(Side note: Ex- husb took my girls across state lines 2 mths before I came back from Iraq. Long story short: I can't get time off from Army to go down to Louisiana from Washington to fight for them so at the present moment, he has custody because I was in Iraq during divorce hearings he filed. But he is "allowing" me to have them for a wk for a vacation. I miss them SO much! I have actually gotten my 2 youngest into LEGOS as well lol. They are jealous of my collection I have already :)

@yellowcastle I hear ya. At least I can wait until fall on MF. I Just pre-ordered 4 of the LotR sets from target.com. Saved $49 over ordering the same 4 from TRU, plus the RedCard savings on top of that.
  • sidersddsidersdd Member Posts: 2,432
^ I haven't been able to find any $5 or $7 off coupons at Target. And the AAA $10 off deal appears to be broken according to their website. Anyone else find additional discounts? Any affiliate relationship between Brickset and Target to give Brickset some love?
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ yeah, noticed all the same things. Not wanting to miss out before they go out of stock, I just ended up biting the bullet and settling for my 5% redcard only.
  • emilewskiemilewski Member Posts: 482
^ If you sign up for ebates.com you can get an additional 3% off target.com orders on top of the 5% redcard savings.

TRU in Robinson, PA got some new sets in today including the five Lord of the Rings sets listed on their website. Also got a few City mining sets (4200, 4201, 4202) and the Swamp Creature, but no other Monster Fighter sets yet.

Some other TRU stores probably got shipments today also, and additional stores should get them soon.
  • wagnerml2wagnerml2 Member Posts: 1,376
Found them at a bricks and mortar TRU in Fairview heights Illinois today as well. Sounds like they had the Same sets.
  • Ma1234Ma1234 Member Posts: 693
My store had everything - all the new mine, LOTR, Ninjago and Monster Fighters. Ridiculous markups, though, and I noticed they just marked stuff up even more today! Like the Quinjet set, now $92.99. And Black Pearl? Now $131.99.

Hopped into a Toys r Us today after the event in Wisconsin and saw the LotR sets on shelves. Didn't think they were due out for a little while yet, guess I was wrong.

Too expensive for my tastes though.

Only 2 MF sets in Rego Park, Queens, NYC today 9462 & 9463... Ninjago 9448 with new inverted 2x2 tiles is "only" $51.99!

Only one small monster fighters set but there was quite a bit of the LOTR sets. They look decent, also have a ton of series 7, ended up with 3 space marines, 2 daredevils, bunny guy, bagpiper, now I gotta find the others I want, space marine was pretty easy to find.

Toys R Us in Cincinnati Ohio, sorry guess I should have stated where, I think there were 5 or 6 LOTR sets, I know my brother bought the Uruk-Hai Army set and then Monster Fighters was the mummy set.
  • dustinmrobertsdustinmroberts Member Posts: 35
Do you know if they're MSRP, or do they have the infamous TRU markup?
  • dustinmrobertsdustinmroberts Member Posts: 35
On a related note...does anyone know when these are hitting LEGO b&m stores?
  • y2joshy2josh Member Posts: 1,996
^As far as I know, June 1st. Though I've already received 3/4 of the order I placed with Target earlier this week. Still waiting on Weathertop, though.

    None here in Phoenix AZ.

I can confirm that these are NOT at the TRU in Southlake, TX - just in case anybody was thinking about making that trip to check.

I saw the following summer sets at TRS in Durham, NC. LOTR big sets (Helms Deep, Moria, Weathertop. Monster Fighter small sets (9461, 9462,9463), Ninago 9450 Epic Dragon Battle. Didn't buy any because I was going to stop another in Raleigh but they didn't have them out! Nuts!
  • hoyatableshoyatables Member Posts: 873
Nothing new at the Norwalk CT TRU.
  • rlattruiarlattruia Member Posts: 3
went to North haven, CT TRU tonight, and was shocked to see the new creator beach house, mining city sets, all the monster fighters sets, as well as the mines of moria LOTR set. I was sadly outmatched by the 20% markup. it is getting well out of hand. but I did pick up the swamp creature set, which I am building now. :-)

    Isn't this TRU's motto?

Great observation yellowcastle. It seems that this is the case. I wonder if we all have to pay $2.99 for the CMFs as a result of TRU selling them at that price when the LEGO stores were selling Series 1 at $1.99? Just something I've been curious about since Series 3 and the price increase at all retailers.

I went into a TRU today and they had most LotR sets...minus Orc Forge and Urak-Hai Army. Had 2 of the Mining Sets...Dump Truck and the Small Set. I only saw the LAgoon Monster MF set. Also, had all 3 new Creator Sets. All of course were marked up stupidly and of course I am broke too. Can't wait for June 1st to get here so I can pick these up at the Lego B&M store and earn VIP points. Needless to say with these sets, Hospital, Parking Garage and the SW sets, it's going to be expensive rest of the year.
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
I just can't stand the TRU markups. I'd rather wait than pay 20%+ extra. I have bought a few sets from TRU, but this is only if they are having a BOGO50% off or a good deal on a SW set(like I got a Slave I for $60, the MF for $109, and the Hoth Rebel Base for $74-sometimes they do it right).
That being said, isn't the Orc Forge going to be a Target exclusive?
