whats going to irritate me is if they put something I ordered on sale
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
Well then, I guess I have experienced excellent customer service from the managers and the staff. In fact, when we were at the Lego store the other day, they were out of the Landspeeders (store no longer carrying them). The manager said if I bought items in the store plus the 2 landspeeders they could order for me, as long as it totaled at least $75, he would give me the TC-14 in the store. I was happy for the offer, but ended up ordering online.

Picked up at the "local" Lego store
    9493 X-Wing
    8088 Arc 170
    8092 Speeder
852552 Magnet Set Royal Guard 2009
and was able to get to 2 minifigs. I was happy, but before anyone asks, I don't really buy for selling and I don't want to open the rabbit hole that is UCS. See as I was going to buy these sets eventually anyway, I figured getting a little kickback was nice enough.

A new one for lego on the promo - taking items OFF sale. While they are sitting in my bag waiting to be purchased. Not to happy with Lego on this one at all. I had a slew of VIP points saved up for the SDD and by time I Checkout, it is off sale.

I knew there was a reason I should stup messing with the [email protected] site...=(

    Now time to eat crow.

Emily at Lego phone Customer Service is awesome! And I fully admit to saying that because she helped to override the sale price change to get me a good deal. And she was even nice about it.

Still not too happy with Lego decision to change the sale midway through (despite what the term say) and will have to rethink future decisions for online purchaes with them.

I know, sometimes I'm not too proud of myself either. Flame away - I prolly deserve it...=(

Just for info, my [email protected] says "out of stock, expected to ship 11 June 2012" for both IS and SSD.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
Perhaps both sold better than expected and Lego simply did not want to sell more at the sale price?

I love Anakin and Sebulba's Podracer. If I got it it'd also be another TC-14 that I could sell off. But it's only about 50 quid on Amazon, so I'm not sure I can justify spending 75 on it.

^ That is my guess... I think LEGO may have underestimated what 20% will do to sales of the bigger sets. First IS is 'Sold out' (then I think it is 'call for avail'... now it is back to 'Out of Stock' will ship on x date, also note it is not on sale any longer) now SSD is off of sale

  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
^I'm sure that's what it is, SSD is still available for me to purchase on [email protected] at full price. This sale is very disappointing, the sets are barely discounted and the ones that are could have been grabbed at Walmart a couple months for half price.

We will not flame, I think we will simply say odds are you will buy from LEGO online again, particularly around Brick Friday Im guessing, again....

Bottom line is this sale was called May the fourth, so while it was supposed to last 4th AND 5th, I think people should have realized that the sale would get people buying sets, also since LEGO customer service was more than happy to get you the discount then I'm not sure why you are so upset

Posted this in the wrong thread...

I still have 2 of my 3 orders still listed as 'Customer Service' as well. Just called and I was told they are still in the process phase and everything looks normal with the order. He said the orders are being reviewed by customer service because they are higher priced items.

When I asked he said the Imperial Shuttle is on backorder but the date may change. Kinda bummed about this as when I ordered the item was listed as 'in stock' but now because of the hold up it appears as though I have to wait as though I ordered it last night when it was showing as backordered.

UPDATE: Those two last orders have now changed to "In Process".

Hopefully things are moving along now and I'll get a couple of shipping notices

Looks like I may have been premature on the IS prediction. Time will tell. One set that may be quietly EOL'ing is 8088. It's now down to "check product availability" and has been out since 2010.

Bitterly disappointed with the Star Wars discounts! I guess I didn't really know what to expect considering this is the first time I have been aware and prepared for May The Fourth!

I did pick up a Fire Brigade though. Primarily because it's something I've been pushing myself to pick up, although I doubt I would've parted with my cash if the TC-14 minifig was Star Wars purchases only as Lego.com seemed to suggest.

Happy May The Fourth guys! Already lookin' forward to the next one!

... I'm not sure why you are so upset
Not so much upset, but disappointed in Lego. The promo may be "May the 4th", yet all the promo material - including the email, postcard, VIP newsletter and Calendar/flier I received - ALL said 4th & 5th. I'm not even so upset about the taking off sale midway through the promo. I was grumpy about the fact that my bag said one thing and checkout said another. I committed to purchase at one price and they changed it literally when I went to pay. Lego should honor the prices of items placed in a shopping cart/bag, even if they happen to change between when I put them in the bag to buy them and when I buy them.

It's not much different than if the grocery store suddenly stopped honoring a sale price between the time I got in line to buy the item and when I reached the checker, without telling me the price had changed. Or a car dealer telling that the posted sticker price is not the correct price as I'm getting ready to write the check.

Yes, Lego has every "right" to do it - it is their sale - but I still find it deceptive and a bit sneaky. Not what I've come to expect from one of my favorite companies...

But, as you say, I got what I wanted and all is good, so water under the bridge. Sometimes even a 36yr-old dad can act more immature than his young children.

Lego does that to me...I deserve the chastizement. =)

    @Lovaquero

Putting an item into your shopping cart is not "committing to purchase". I wouldn't regard it as deceptive at all. Better to think of it as an untimely coincidence or a stroke of bad luck. Next time don't hesitate!

Does anyone remember from last year - were there any deeper discounts on UCS set during BF or Christmas Sale?
I remember only a decent discount on 10215 (in January) but I don't know if it was put on sale during last May promotion.

    * I had no chance to order 10212 IS now, and I'm wondering if there will be deeper discount on that one.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
10195 was 25% off, that isn't a UCS set in my opinion, but it is pretty close.

all right, after 46.5 hours of being really well behaved (and actually deciding to RETURN my previously-purchased IS - it is a display ship and I'm not looking to display my Star Wars stuff), i caved and decided to get the Sith Speeder (the Darth Maul one that was on sale) + Catwoman Cycle for one TC-14, and the Anakin Starfighter and the Naboo Fighter for another TC-14.

I just bought the Grand Emporium. Shame my state has sales tax, but the minifig makes up for it! :)

Agreed - it isn't commit to purchase. Filling out the all the order info and hitting next multiple times throught the check-out process, on the otherhand, it a bit closer.

I didn't hesitate. I added it to the bag at 20% off, took another 2-3 minutes to add a couple non-SW items, pressed checkout, saw the discount and during the process of walking through ship address-next-payment-next-confirm-ne... it went to full price.

It is actually bad programming on behalf of whomever Lego commissioned to build their online check-out system.

I know I shouldn't be surprised - the on-line system has suffered issues in the past.

Either way, my wife has thoroughly scolded me and I return you all the the regularly scheduled programming ;-)

And just like that, all the sales have been taken off one minute after 12am EST. Happy May the 4th and 5th everyone ;-)

The Lego store I went to stickered all of their IS boxes with the discount price. I don't think one even went off the shelf except for the one I bought. Maybe they won't knock the price back up?

Houston Galleria Lego store sold out of the R2D2's within the first few hours, they only had a couple Super Star Destroyers left when I got mine on 5/4.

Glad I bought everything SW when I did, all of my purchases were in stock when I bought them, no waiting. Just got to sneak them in the house past the wife (she knows about the Y-Wing, but not the UCS R2).
