The IS beats the SD in a second! Hell it's Minifig-scale! It's really a eye-catching display-piece(i own one and have seen the SDD in a Lego store)!

If they put the Landspeeder on sale i'm going to buy at least 30! I'm pretty sure these will sell well after retired!
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
@Yellowcastle I just checked out an order. I'll let you know if it shows up in my confirmation (never showed up anywhere online)
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
You can only get the TC-14 before May 4th if you purchase the R2D2!
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
I can wait a few days to get my UCS R2, just in case there's double points or similar on the 4th/5th. On the other hand, it would be handy for having the R2's points to spend on the 4th.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
ok, order confirmation email is indeed showing R2D2, Poster, and TC-14. free shipping
  • starfire2starfire2 Member Posts: 1,335
But ONLY if you order the R2D2. I ordered $75 worth of Star Wars Lego. It didn't show on my confirmation, when I called to cancel the order the operator asked why. I told her because it wasn't showing the TC-14, She put me on hold and when she came back on, she said she was able to put it with my order but it will ship seperate. She explained that people who ordered the R2D2 were the ones getting the figure early. Love Lego Customer Service!!!

dougts: Might order mine today then, one less thing to worry about as of midnight tomorrow night if there is a bit of a scramble for some genuine bargains.
  • SupersympaSupersympa Member Posts: 534
do we know the time yet for the offers?
CET? will it be midnight or 6 am in the morning to let the US have it at midnight?
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
Supersympa: It would appear that UK event starts at midnight GMT. Not sure when continental europe's will start. GMT? GMT+1?
  • SupersympaSupersympa Member Posts: 534
Just called [email protected], in Europe, it starts at midnight GMT as @monkeyhanger said, so 1 am CET!

well..I think I will not stay late just for that...and log in in the morning instead....can't be bothered
  • DiggydoesDiggydoes Member Posts: 1,079
I also talked to a [email protected] employee,he told me the following sets are going to be on sale: Naboo Starfighter; Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship; Sith Nightspeeder; Geonosian Starfighter.
How dissapointing is this? The guy seems reliable since he said that those info just came in from the Marketing-Department! This is for Europe BTW!
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
This (Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship) has regularly been 50% off in the UK.
  • roxioroxio Member Posts: 1,384
These have been available in various UK sales for £20, £20, £15, £15 respectively. No way TLG will discount as much, looks like an early night in bed......

SSD and IS are both 20% off at [email protected] AUS/NZ :) and others at 10% off
  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
hee hee very exciting. I can almost feel my SSD in the post (the force is strong with this one).

    10212 -20%
    10221 -20%
    7929 -10%
    7956 -10%
    7962 -10%

I hope this doesn't mean that the SSD is going to be EOLed early..
  • SupersympaSupersympa Member Posts: 534
no, I do not think so @avengerdr
but I am not gonna stay late tonight for that kind of promotion. plus I already have the TC-14...
    good luck everyone ! ;)

I'd like to get a DS for personal use, but only if it's at least 20% off. I really want it before its discontinued, and am expecting a huge pay check, but still the only reason I want it is because I know when it's gone I'll wish I would have bought it...
^^My sentiments exactly.... and I also have a 3 yr old who in 3 yrs time will will get a lot of playability from it. He's already saying he wishes he had the "2 red guys" - Royal Guards.

    So many decisions to make!!!!

As long as all the UCS sets are still available at 2 AM EST tonight I will be happy camper. This is the earliest I can make it to a computer after seeing the Avengers.

My plans right now are Imperial Shuttle and Death Star. Hoping both of these will have some sort of a discount OR double VIP.

IF the SSD is indeed on sale and DS is not I may get it and hold off on the DS until Christmas (with my fingers crossed it's not gone before then).

But the bottom line is I could live with myself if I missed out on the DS but not if I missed out on the SSD or IS. My top 2 wish list items right there.

    Supersympa nailed it. No DS.

wow, aside from the two UCS sets they are terrible deals, each of those sets are often found heavily reduced in the UK at least.

    7929 30%, 7956 25% (I got it for 75%!), 7962 30% and 7964 20%.

I do fancy an IS but when Lego sell it for £100 less in the US I'm not touching it on principal. Amazon Italy would be the only choice for me.

even the 10212 i bought for cheaper on amazon.se a couple of months ago...
If anything i would go for 10221....but between 330 eur on ebay, and 320 on lego...when you buy such a big set, 10 eur is not that a big difference ;)
plus I want to buy those Marvel sets first.
  • GIR3691GIR3691 Member Posts: 674
7961 Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator is also 10% off on the NZ site.
  • richlrichl Member Posts: 246
Sorry, what I meant to say was that the discounts Supersympa listed will also apply to the US Lego store.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
At a presumed 20% off for the SSD, £280 is still too much for the blandest ship in the SW universe. Should've retailed at £250. Looks like i'm just getting Y-Wing (+keyring+TC-14) and UCS R2 (+TC-14) unless UK gets some offers that the Aussies haven't had (doubtful).
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
I placed 3 different orders with [email protected] for R2D2, and they cancelled 2 of them, citing a 1 per person limit
  • UKtsumiUKtsumi Member Posts: 630
^ That doesnt seem fair, their website lists it as 5 limit.!
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
^ not anymore, I see it's been changed to 1 per person

  • DougoutDougout Member Posts: 888
The only set I know I'm definitely getting is the R2 and that's not even discounted. Maybe a SSD or IS, but I've seen the IS discounted for much less on amazon.
  • BanditBandit Member Posts: 889
    ^
*much* less? Really? I'm going to be able to get the IS for $200 shipped, after tax, VIP and rewardsrunner cash back. I got one from amazon last November when they had the lightning deal, for $198 shipped. The cheapest it's ever gotten on Amazon was $182, a couple weeks later, for like a day. I wouldn't hold your breath to see it that cheap there again.

This is as good as it gets. Plus, you get the minifig, which you can likely sell for $20-30+, making the actual cost less than $180.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,788
^-- Exactly, Amazon had the IS on sale for 180 for about 1 overnight time. AND the TC-14 figure, if you sell it, makes it about the same as what to buy on Amazon plus you also get the VIP points, but since I already got the IS from Amazon during its sale Im not certain if I want to buy another at this point.... I have a few hours to think about it still :-)

I don't understand all the love for the SSD. Yes, it's big, but the outside of the model is boring. I went to the Lego store to check it out for the May 4th sale, but I'm passing. Read/watched some reviews and can't bring myself to part with $300+ for it. The IS and DS are still up for consideration. To each his own...
  • luckyrussluckyruss Member Posts: 872
As already noted, I'm going to get an SSD. Unless they have a serious amount of overstock, then I'm doubtful if we'll see a much better deal in the UK (effectively at least 30% off allowing for the discount, VIP and mini fig offers). For me, that's enough, I can understand the view that the RRP is too high, but the MF was in the same camp. Whilst SSD is not quite as iconic as that, the Star destroyer is the ultimate imperial ship so I'm not going to pass up. I think I would get an IS too but already have them through Amazon.

The other offers at 10% just aren't at all appealing, I have two 7964s which I got at 40% already (through Argos)

On the timing, presume they meant BST since we're already 1 hr ahead of GMT. I can stomach staying up til midnight to place an order, but not 1am. I have an early start to get to AFOLCON tomorrow!

Anyone there already and want to chip in - what's the word on the street?

So, it is after midnight in places like Kiev and Helsinki. Does anybody know what sets went on sale there yet?
  • YellowcastleYellowcastle Administrator, Moderator Posts: 5,234
^ I assume the sets and discounts are flat across the board...
  • DaddyDeuceDaddyDeuce Member Posts: 272
^ Oh, I assumed they would vary country-by-country. How horrible.
  • LegoFanTexasLegoFanTexas Member Posts: 8,404
The fact that the SSD is 20% off and the DS is not, speaks VOLUMES about the quality and sales rate of the two sets.

It also sparks concern over future $400 UCS sets, Lego hasn't seemed to actually do all that well with any of them.

DS is good, but it isn't REALLY a UCS set, it is a play set, a large dollhouse really...

Even if the UCS AT-AT with 8,000 bricks hits 10,000 supporters, how many people here would REALLY pay $1,000 to get one? As in, really get out the credit card and spend the money?
  • vader34mtvader34mt Member Posts: 88
^ i think you're right...the UCS MF only does well now because i believe so few were purchased because it was so expensive

and LEGO isnt seeing any of the money from the $2000+ MFs

I deliberated for a long time before buying the DS at 360 on black friday this past year, and I only did so because I thought it would go EOL

Once the SSD was unveiled, i thought "wow thats cool!" but at the same time knew i would never buy one because it was too expensive for something thats pretty impractical to display

the DS is easier to display, and in the end, can be a GREAT toy for when i have kids in the future

the SSD is NOT a toy, and has no use except collecting dust

as you say, the $400+ UCS set may soon be a thing of the past

I am absolutely positive that Lego plans on making an official UCS AT-AT ($300-$500 range) sometime in the (hopefully) near future, which leads me to believe that there is no way they will green light this CUUSOO one. If/when it hits 10,000, it will certainly be interesting to see their response.

    ^ Flump? ;o)
  • timinchicagotiminchicago Member Posts: 239
^ This is an excellent point. I for one could not justify spending $500 on the MF, even when it was going EOL and was on sale. Frankly I do not think I am unique in my aprehension when it comes to the reality of paying $500+ for a set. It is an easy thing to admit that a 6000+ piece UCS AT-AT would be cool, but a completely different matter when it comes time to buy it.

Ill wait for an SSD.. Not really keen on it anyways, but Pretty sure the old USC Star Destroyers were clearance by LEGO to get rid of them, not sure these will be discounted too, but I cannot see the buzz on these.. besides they will prob be on sale NEXT May 4th :-)
I'm not really blown away by this, I may try to get a IS, but otherwise it does not really look overwhelming.

  • morbiczermorbiczer Member Posts: 50

They do indirectly from the sales to all the speculators who seeing the aftermarket success of UCS MF and a few other similar sets are now buying FB, DS, MMV and other sets such as those hoping to get rich on them. (Or well, make some money at least.)

Plus, all these big UCS sets serve also marketing purposes to strengthen the entire Star Wars Lego brand and product line.

  • mressinmressin Member Posts: 843
FYI on the "how well is DS selling compared to SSD" issue: asked a Lego store staff about it today. He told me that they are selling at least five DS for every SSD, and that IS sell even worse than SSD.

How long has IS been around? Might be the last chance to get one. But too many technic parts for my taste, I think.
