I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't ask @Huw about the idea of an article on long-term care of vulnerable bricks, including prophylactics like cyanoacrylate treatment.

It seems reasonable that whatever chemical reaction causes them to be brittle enough to break after a few years, might just dissolve them into a pile of ABS dust eventually.

With some luck, those pieces will be remade in time for other sets with a "modern" recipe that don't disintegrate that quickly.  So we might be able to replace them in the long run.  But yes, all will be dust before then.

Today I have broken the seals on the last of my stash of black old style minifig display cases in readiness for CMFS24 which arrived today (thanks @sirrich69).
Still have some reds and yellows for licensed and other series but they’re getting harder to find at a decent price! Not sure I like the newer ones but might have to compromise. Or do I go back and do a whole new display method - but that’s a different thread.

I was cheap and just did it with craft-store floss organizer boxes left over from an absurdly huge bulk-buy we did (seriously, we bought entire cases of 36!) building rock-collection kits for fifth-grade classes at my aunt' school 10-15 years ago. Three bucks each at Michaels here in the US with sixteen single cells each big enough for two minifigs plus a double-wide.

It’s always nice when I’m selling locally, if the buyer is communicative, meets on time, pays cash, has the correct amount, and you can shoot the breeze for a few minutes.

@Venunder my childhood cat did like kicking the bricks around and whizzing them under the fridge or sofa. Then someone had to lie on the floor with a long ruler to rescue them (plus all the other nonsense she put under there).
I still wonder if she was responsible for my Fabuland Catherine Cat going missing. Catherine was never found....my mum had to write for a replacement.
@560Heliport your picture looks a bit like it's the post catnip regret.

Opened my full set of CMF S24 yesterday, loads of cool minifigs. Weirdly while trying to cut down plastic use, LEGO double bagged some of them. The Orc has all the pieces except the large sword in a small clear bag inside the main bag! Sadly my Orc is missing his red cloak, I know I haven't binned it as all the cut open bags are still on my build tray and all empty. I did however get a second T Rex tail. Anyone army building with Orcs and got a spare cloak before I try and find one on BL? All CS will do is ship a blind bag figure to compensate and the chances of it being an Orc are slim.

Sadness. Breaking down the LNY Ice Festival. It's a fun little set. It is NOT fun to take apart though. It's got so many flat sections that are frankly really annoying to separate.

Puzzled... last Sunday I found 2 Spacemen CMF's at Utrecht Lego Store (after mis-feeling 2 others at the Intertoys), and fiddled around with them a bit whilst watching telly on Monday or Tuesday evening adding Benny and his Pink friend to a little display.
Vividly remember putting the Spacemen and both other CMFs (Orc and Conservationist) back into the pink baggies the same evening, and putting them somewhere in our living room whilst thinking "ooh will those be safe, will the boys find them" for a brief moment.

And new they are nowhere to be found, and for the life of my I cannot recall where I put them - the boys didn't take them (there would be evidence in the form of baggies on the floor). My wife thinks I accidentally threw them away, I can't really imagine I did so...

^ I have exactly that same issue with my Ghost Rider minifig from the original Lego set - cannot for the life of me remember where I put him. It's been years now. YEARS.

It could be my imagination, but it did seem that the brown parts made a higher-pitched sound when removed... It could be that some of them cracked but didn't actually break apart.

Yeah, I've heard a creaking,  kind of like a chair protesting.
Anyway, my LEGO status? Leviticus, sorting, readying BDP entries.

My LEGO status: reading Leviticus, organizing my parts per Bricklink's categories as opposed to what I was doing. My BDP entries got approved for the next step,

Probably old news to most (especially the UK forum members) but I just watched The Secret World of LEGO documentary on Tubi. Lots of fun familiar faces on there, including our own @Huw. It was a very enjoyable watch from the perspective of today's LEGO world into the world of 6-8ish years ago and how much has changed in just that time.

I do have this and took it apart about two months after building it. The only casualties were two of the 1 x 1 modified plates with bricks. Fortunately I had spares.

Whether it would be quite as successful building it for a second time remains to be seen.

Super blessed! My toes aren't hurting,(praising God for not needing Tylenol, in fact they're even moving!) What's that got to do with LEGO? Well,  I got a very nice package from a fellow Bricksetter, who wanted to bless me, apparently, and, she did! What all was there was the pictured Disney S1, (and two dupes not shown, in case two identical minifigs meeting rips a hole in the fabric of LEGO time and space..)A nearly complete #70612(I LOVE dragons, but didn't have this one.) Also, the exclusive coasters,(couldn't get them up here, no store)The new BAMs(see previous) #4165,(will probably be a Mickey/Minnie meet'ngreet) and #40145, which will go somewhere on my layout, although, I must say the fact that my minifigs get a LEGO store before I do leaves me conflicted...

Thinking what City sets would be good to my planned City to make me invest $90 to get the 4x4 Off Road Ambulance. Thinking the LEGO LOTR sets could work to create an abandoned ruins and then planning if I get x2 of the Friends School to make a bigger school versus x2 of City School.

The requirements of spending money on city sets has been removed! You just need to get to the threshold with any sets.

Well we have signed the papers for a new house, so we will be moving this October. This does mean that my attic needs to be cleaned up/out, including all of the Lego (both sets and boxes full of sorted parts.
I have started disassembling my sets, so the realtor can take good pictures of the space, (which was FULL of Lego) but I am dreading it a bit. I am taking some sets apart to reassemble in the new house, where I will get a dedicated Lego room (a small one, but dedicated nonetheless).

Other sets I will disassemble and part out, but there are a few large boxes of unsorted parts still waiting to be sorted, and this is not the part of the hobby I like very much, but it needs to be done... I still have a month or two to get it done, so I just put on a 10-season tv show (Stargate SG1) and soldier on!

It also means no new buys for me, which is a bummer, but perhaps it is for the best for now...

    you only have 2 sets?

    (joking)

congrats on the new house, sorting is always easier in groups while chatting, joking etc. I usually have some guys from my Lug over when I buy a big lot for example, and I get invited to their place when they need help in this domain as well.usually, a big box is done in 1-2 hours if you have help and a good organizational model that is easy to follow.

So, I'm trying to sell an item on Facebook Marketplace and the buyer has agreed to pay through PayPal friends and family. They sent the payment, but it's coming through as an eCheck?

Any experienced PayPalers that can verify if this is legit? Does this buyer have a way of pulling their funds back if I wait long enough for the check to arrive and accept the payment?

I'm just feeling a little nervous of this sale all the sudden.

Friends and Family payments rob the seller from any protections from Paypal.  Always a bad idea for a seller. Buyer saves the bank fees, so gets all the advantages.
