Had another day off so built myself the Classic Space Star Destroyer (Surely I can't be the only one who ran it above my head to replicate the first scene in Star Wars?).
I thought I'd treat myself to this one while I had the chance as I'd have hated to have missed it.
I only had two or three smaller space sets as a kid and loved the aesthetic of the rebooted ship. It's also a smorgasbord of building techniques to achieve the shaping and it was fun to learn whilst building it.
All in all a fantastic build and one of the best I've built in a long time. My only complaint (one for the unpopular opinions thread) are the classic space heads. After so many years of expressions on faces, the blank stare and smile just don't work for me any more.
The senior officers were too busy to go outside so they let Barry the bog cleaner loose in the buggy. :)
Gotta make a door too.

They look like a lantern piece with a transparent yellow 1x1brick inside.
I think each light is $2 with free shipping, and the controller is ~$1.50

Twelve minifigures! Only the Yellow Castle, #375 #6075 had more. (#10305 is an Icons set, not Castle, so it doesn't count. Fight me!)
Now that I'm an adult and it's been retired for 30 years, I still can't afford it.

So much for "not recycling set numbers"...
Really like how it's coming together!
Sorry for not many other pics of the build... I'm just really focused on enjoying the build on this one. Due to the brittle brown issues, I will likely never dismantle or rebuild this ship ever again.
I ended last night being about 3/4 of the way through I'd estimate. I will certainly finish it up today after work.
Good news on the brittle brown front - other than the issues with the hull pieces, so far I haven't had a single other piece break or crack that I've heard. It truly is a beautiful ship! I've started clearing off some shelf space for it, it definitely takes up a commanding footprint!
When you type in 2 (or even more) languages on the same phone, you'd be surprised to see what autocorrect thinks is right or wrong.
It is my mistake to not proof reading everything, all the time, that I admit.
