So many years ago when my boys were maybe 5 + 7 we were walking along the railroad tracks behind our house and found a turtle between the tracks. When I picked it up to move it outside the tracks there was a nickel under it. A real turtle that pooped nickels, man they thought hard about that for years!

Don't tell the angry robot warrior, but he's holding his laser gun upside down.  Gonna get some nasty recoil when it goes pew pew.
You're right. The instructions have you build it upside down, to show the placement of the 1x1 plate, then flip it over to place it in his hand. I didn't look at that last step because I know how to put items in minifig hands! (Obviously not!)  :)
I don't know...Remember the rocket lawnmower episode of Home Improvement? Like Tim, you may be onto something....

True story.  My brother's mother in law was convinced that my nieces were stealing money from her because she had left some on the counter & it disappeared.  A couple of days later when my brother was cleaning up their dog's poop in the yard he found the missing money in the dog's poop.  The dog was eating it.

Decided to cut the seals and build #60347 that I got for Christmas.
Miss Speedy built the vehicles, quite like the little forklift truck.
I built the store, quite basic, but some nice features.
Then I had to make into my local Asda!
I have a shelf with a MOC of a brick arched Bridge that my Crocodile train and heavy load wagon sites on. This should go nicely in front and below to make a mini scene.

With regard to Technic, I'm just an occasional builder.  But every once in a while a set comes along that really wows me.  #42145 was a challenging build - rush this one at your peril!  The instructions command your attention to get the power functions correct the first time around.
Hats off to the designer - it boggles my mind how they conceive of these complex builds.  Unbelievable!

I'm impressed how much better the Friends grocery store looks than the City one ... it just might be my second Friends set. As for the #42145 helicopter, it's the kind of set I've been waiting for for a long time, and the price is more or less fair, but I haven't ponied up the money for it yet because some reviews have said concerning things about the weight of the model: the tail boom sags noticeably and the landing gear is prone to collapse. Have you noticed any problems with the tail boom or the landing gear in your copy of the set?

@iwybs I built #42145 a few months ago. The tail is a little wobbly, but I didn't have any problems with the landing gear.
    It's a great set!
Unlike a lot of other people, I actually like the Vibrant Yellow color- I wish it had more!

The model does have some heft to it, and the main wheels do appear to strain a little bit under the weight, but only because of the single attach point of each main wheel.  Otherwise the gear is sturdy.  The tail attaches securely and I didn't notice any sagging.
As with most Technic sets with a lot of clutches, gears, etc...it's definitely important to make sure there's always some extra play when attaching gears to axles.  Cinching anything up too tightly on this bird will bog everything down.  Either way, the single motor powers everything just fine.  8.5/10 for this set...the sticker sheet is a bit much, but makes the model look great in the end.

Every time I see that model all I can think of is Airwolf and how much I wish someone would come up with a conversion.

^ depending on your interests but there is a few good ones out there, especially if you go for the combined images. I've got the large Vader and Ironman frames that use triple sets and #31205 is currently near the top of my to build queue, all 3 sets to do the large Batman!

Rumours is there will be a Spiderman art set released this year...

Interesting. I like them all! The Star Wars one less so. I am quite tempted with the triple IronMan one, but the price of a single set now is not looking good, I daresay I could get the 1x1s in bulk at a good price and then get a load of the baseplates. I have other projects further up my list for now.
  • gratefulnatgratefulnat Member Posts: 433
As the beer goes down  the chances of eating a 1x1 piece and mushing a Malteaser into the baseplate is growing!
The best thing I've read all day today!

Found at Walmart today. I customized his blaster. That is, I added the extra skate. :)
I also found this guy at a supermarket. I may have added too much to his gun:

Well that sucks. I took some time away and they come out with a brown space man and baby space man. I wondered why the mini fig packs locally were simply devastated by people. Going to be hard to justify $15+ for one of those.

I can only apologise for the lack of avian hooters! My little build mat that Mrs Speedy made got tucked away. I'll dig it out soon!
In the mean time I decided it was time to open #31205 all 4167 pieces of it....

Did I miss something? Does this set come with a soundtrack?
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,267
I'm starting #7048 Troll Warship. A set from 2008, with almost half the parts in New Dark Red, Dark Brown, or Reddish Brown. 🤞 I suppose any breakage is likely to be when I dismantle it.

Yes, if you follow the QR code inside the manual it takes you to a page about the set with instructions for the x2 and x3 set versions and an hour long interview with the designers and DC artists.

#7048. There is a tiny crack on the bottom of the hull bow piece. I have two #7040 Dwarves' Mine Defender that I got on clearance and never built. Today when assembling the Troll minifigs one torso cracked.
I gave my two CMF-24 Orcs stud-shooting crossbows.

A shame about the cracking torso, but more alarmingly are you aware your trolls are shedding cat hair!?!
I wished I had picked up some of the troll sets, unfortunately not... they look darn good.

Oh, I wish my trolls were shedding cat hairs! Instead they're attracting it.
I wish I'd got more of the Trolls sets- especially #7097 Trolls' Mountain Fortress. Oh well, now I'm building #7037 Tower Raid.
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,267
#7037 Tower Raid and all three #7040 Dwarves' Mine Defenders, and Emilie.

Now I need to build #7036 Dwarves' Mine: can't have those Defenders just sitting around!

@560Heliport I have an unopened #7097 but box seals and box are not great for collecting pristine sets but beside the point if being build.  About every 15-20 years I think doing Black Friday in person is a good idea then I do it and realize how wrong I was.  Last time about 13-15 years back target had this set as a door buster and I bought 2, 1 was build and long since merged into collection.  Was looking to offer the odd sets I have on marketplace for trade to make space.

@560Heliport my kid has the Troll Warship too and sadly has dealt with a few cracks too! Those torsos seem especially bad. ☹️

But, onto what I built today... The LotR Brickheadz!

I honestly enjoyed them more than I thought I would even. Receding hairline Frodo still looks a little funny, but not quite as bad as the artwork made me feel. Gollum is still just a weird looking naked baby. But overall I still really liked building them. The Balrog is definitely my favorite (he's now known as Roggie!) as well as Gandalf. If anyone is thinking for just getting one, that would be the set.

@pxchris that torso was sealed in the bag until today- I wonder if that somehow contributed to it cracking?

This is getting out of hand! Two CMF-24 Orcs led to Troll Warship, then some more Fantasy Era sets... now I'll have to build them all: #5615, #7090, #7091, #7092, and #7094. Dragon from #7094 to start things off...

    76131 Avengers Compound Battle
    76144 Avengers Hulk Helicopter Rescue
    76166 Avengers Tower Battle

& a nice surprise discovered today, #92177. I noticed one globe & the 6x6 compass dish but didnt think anything of them; in fact I thought they were non-Lego as I'd never seen them before (had no interest in Ship/Bottle either time it released) & I assumed the ship parts were from the Creator Pirate Ship (also in here) but then I considered "why all the trans light-blue studs here?" I realized those were the water!
