@PJ76uk @Lo1sJess, that's really interesting about the foreign market price. Over here, it seems to be the 'slept on' WV set. The Bakery, Cottage, Post Office seem to be the high priced can't gets. Lois, I'll be careful when building it, and see if I can't spot a way to smooth it out. Yeah! I saw @snowhitie's church! It's beautiful! For mine, though, I went from the idea of the poor, stone church Disney's Robin Hood, so I'll have to see how she did the pews.

^ My understanding  is that Christmas markets are a popular thing in Europe, and basically nonexistent here in the USA, so the set was far less popular/relevant here. I think it was basically viewed as a "summer carnival in winter" and was passed over.

@WesterBricks the markets overseas are great, we are sorely lacking them here.

So, @Lo1sJess and I were talking about #10235 's  carousel, earlier. I think I found a mod to reduce friction, and I'm not sure why the designer didn't. A 15535 and the extra 4265 ought to reduce the sticking. 15535 actually came out in 2013, so I'm not sure why not. And the 4265 only raises the turntable a little bit...enough to clear the tiles.

Thinking about getting the Great Wave set but the only places I really have to put it get a lot of western sunlight and I fear the white bricks would get yellowed and ruined.

Went to Smyths Toy Superstore. They had certain stock out a day early....

If you look at the real artwork, the white parts are also a bit more yellow due to the material used, so I think it could work!

Happy New Year all! My Lego new year’s resolution is to try and sell a slightly better matched amount of Lego to what I buy - not necessarily in value terms but in space consumption terms. At least the January Star Wars wave is so minuscule it definitely helps with that!

The store opens in less than three hours, and I still haven't decided what to get!

I've been telling myself that I don't really need the Blacktron Cruiser, since I have the original Invader, but I don't think I'm listening to that nonsense.

I also tell myself (every time I buy one!) that I don't need any more dragons... but, #71786!

I spent $190.90 before sales tax.
They were out of large PAB cups! They tried to foil my plan to spend as little over $190 s possible, but I got a small cup ($8.99) and two Super Mario blind boxes ($5.99 each) plus other stuff. I'll post a photo of everything when I get home.

They had a hard limit of one per set today to help everyone get what they wanted.

I don't think I'll be building at a county or state park today- the temperature is a little below freezing. I suppose building with gloves on would be an interesting challenge...

@560Heliport do you have or want this dragon - haven’t found the lower jaw yet?  We don’t want it here in the house but can’t bring myself to disassemble it🙃

@560Heliport love your park builds but I’d pass on the below freezing maybe a different challenge - build with one hand or something but inside.
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,269
@Lo1sJess Thanks for thinking of me, but I already have #70612 Green Ninja Mech Dragon.
Today's biggest set is #71786 Zane's Ice Dragon Creature. It really seems like it should be built in sub-freezing temperature!
And gloves would keep fingerprints off...

Dragon! ❤️My LEGO status: Church this morning was fantastic.  #10235 only had one part casualty, It's now nicely installed on my layout.  Started #60347, hoping LEGO's electric car push won't stop an SC Herbie.

Well, by a squeaker made just enough to get the Blacktron Cruiser. No idea how I'm gonna get the mini GWP with Petra unless it drops about the same time as JP30...

Some of my neighbors are coming out winners too--one runs the local collision center, owns classic musclecars and used to have a dragster sponsored by the shop so he's getting the Charger & SRT to help turn his grandkids into camheads, and another is always the butt of Batman jokes because Bruce is a traditional name in his father's family and his mother's maiden name is Wayne so he's Bruce Wayne [Lastname] so I snagged him a couple Batman sets.

The in laws came bearing gifts last night. The boys had a great morning with this set and the wife built half of it. Ordered sanctum set at midnight for the GWP too.

So is the new Friends character Paisley related to Jessica Rabbit since she seems to have the same hair? Is this in any way tied to the Year of the Rabbit? Would Lego ever make a minifig torso that you could use as Jessica Rabbit?
No, the answers are all no.
I've spent too long looking through the new sets and all the new parts. A lot of new parts I'd like, especially hair styles and stuff. Pity there's now the long delay for new parts to appear on Bricks and Pieces.

Well, I've decided that I'd like to add the four Lego Movie Brickheadz to my collection this year, but will likely aim to do so by BLing as much as I can of the parts. It really only leaves me between 1-4 parts per figure that are printed that I'd need replacements for.

Benny is easy enough as I could sub a 1x2 Classic Space logo brick and two 1x1's on either side. It would be close enough in the long run.

However, the other three have me a bit stumped. I don't think any of those printed parts have ever been sold on BL (or at least not recently) from what I can tell. I tend to avoid aftermarket stickers, but does anyone know of a resource that I could work with to make some custom stickers for these parts?

I have been rebuilding some old sets and realised that I have managed to lose 20 6x12 baseplates. They are not in the box that they should be and not anywhere else that it should be. So I can only assume that the lego faires have stolen it.

Reminds me the time the brick faires ‘took’ my sw0107 Cloud City Boba Fett, only to return him back an (what seemed like) eternity later. Just behind the other cased figures. Talk about a stomach dropper.

Yeah that would panic me a lot based on how much he is worth. I found my baseplates hidden away in a cabinet.

I'm having a less nice day today I found out that my LEGO ideas project only has 109 days left and I still need a lot of support.

But I don't know how to promote my LEGO ideas project so that maybe it can get some more support. Can someone help me here on the forum

Okay, it's only € 3 for the instructions but just the idea that someone likes it so much that he/she is willing to pay a couple of bucks for it make me feel proud and humble :-)

I also see that I have 9 followers and 17 likes. A great day for me!
    Congrats!

I've had a bit of the opposite phenomena with social networks.  My first MOC garnered 60 likes on reddit and I was quite proud, but all my subsequent attempts didn't pass the 5 likes despite the better quality (in my mind).  For context, tons of daily submissions get more than 1k likes for very basic stuff.  Since then, I've had a bit of a builder's remorse, like what I build doesn't please people.  I know you can't please all crowds, but not pleasing any crowd is rough!  So I've been juggling between three builds but they're not moving forward as fast as before.

So yeah, enjoy the spotlight, but be wary of its negative effects!  Build for yourself first!

After caressing many series 24 bags on Saturday to come up one short, been contemplating since what I will do once the next series shows up in boxes.  Just buying a "blind" box is not going to happen.  Settle for buying used from someone/somewhere else to get what I want?  Maybe buy only 1 or 2 because the allure of searching/finding them in a store in bags is gone?  Or just give up on CMF line?  Don't know...

@MinifiguresPlus is my go to. No feeling bags, always get a complete set. They're great people. My LEGO status, though? Reading Exodus, and I called LEGO to inquire about 91405. They should get more soon. Only need 6 more for my WV, so, that'll be done, when I can, Lord willing. I guess it's onto green pastures section and the desert section,  next!

So much this. They're my go-to until Lego starts selling sealed cases direct so I can get the VIP points and bucks-toward-GWP's on 'em...

When in doubt just hit the Easy Button and order a case from MP. If all else fails there gotta be some kids around who'd love the extras... we usually get multiples of certain figs (our two complete sets plus extras that fit with certain themes) and anything that isn't classed as a "keep" on third-or-more in the case we give to a family friend who's a teacher for his classroom-rewards box.

Well, bit of an update for those who may be curious. I unfortunately was not selected for the new position at work. However, I feel like a made a strong impression on the department manager as they've asked me to stay connected with them and their team. They also strongly encouraged me to apply for the next opening (which sounds like is not too far away).

This one wasn't meant to be. But always next time!
Bummer, but with some positives, fortunately. Hope to hear some more in the near future.

On the box art the 4th figure has the range finder in the wrong position on the helmet. It’s just slightly lower than it would actually appear on the product. Not sure if that’s the actual reason it’s omitted in the advertisement.
