Oh yes I hadn't recognised it! Looks pretty with the coloured lights.

@rockethead26 I don't think the yellow tiles are that bad, it's always a bit of a balancing act with what you have and what you'd like to have (plus space and money obviously). Maybe you could do the yellow as one continuous line like a bike path? Although, I quite like the splash off colour. Nice village, and yes the polar bears where a great idea! The haunted house with the nutcracker gives you nice height as well.

Thanks! I like the bike lane idea for the yellow bricks. Next year...

@LASE Can we have close up pictures of the black car? (Possibly a taxi??)
  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,492
@LASE that white tree in the left of the picture is awesome!!! Really love the whole layout!
  • MarshallmarioMarshallmario Member Posts: 400
@LASE I agree, the white tree is super cool!
@Switchfoot55 so the blue building on the right is a customization of #10229 Winter Village Cottage?

@Switchfoot55 glad you got a part of your winter Village out anyway, it looks  festive! That trolley track is fun.

@Speedman29 sorry to hear about the 2 losses your family has suffered, makes Christmas always a bit strange that year. Glad you got some stuff sorted and hope you will have a nice Christmas with your family.

A track is always fun isn't it, my son is now 13 and every day he just turns on the engine to get it to do some loops (got the Hogwarts Express with motorised tender). Tender seems to work better.

    @Brickchap of course you can!
it is indeed a taxi, it was a gift from my Secret Santa last year.

It might just be a Charles Pritchett-design!
    super layout Lase!

Wow that's sooooo nice @snowhitie . Great detailing, superb design.

So good to see you back on your game (or at least a bit (a big bit, as this church testifies!)) :)

@Marshallmario, correct! A modification of the original Cottage building with just a few extra blue parts to finish the upstairs wall.

@snowhitie, is that your own design? It's absolutely fantastic! This is the size I'll be looking to aim for once I finally get around to starting my own Church MOC. I really love the small details!

Yup, it's my own design. Been meaning to make a church for ages as well and thought, this is the year :) It was a bit of a hit and miss to find the size, you want to go big enough so you can detail, but not that big that you can't lift it and have enough bricks.  I made sure I had a strong roof and then tried to balance it from there.

I first made the main walls with just bricks/big windows, then started fiddling with the details to try and get it more of an architectural thing. Getting the glass in lead windows on the side was the biggest challenge, especially since I was just using what I had lying around and I didn't have as much 1x1 straight translucent plates (and I used them for the main building).

I wanted to be able to remove the roof to add the details since my son asked to be able to play with it. And I'm glad to have done it. I actually made the floor outside of the building and then slided it in afterwards (removed the brown beams to do that. I then put the chairs and the big things in while it was on the inside of the building. I've got some progress pictures, shoot me a PM if you fancy them. Good luck with your project!

@eMJeeNL thank you that's very nice thing to say. First big MOC for a long time and it's done me the world of good to get it finished this Christmas. I'll be doing something else in the new year for sure.

    Looks at those MILS plates!!!

Fantastic job, Lois! I love what you've been able to put together thus far. I think filling out a village with minifigs is among my favorite things in a Winter Village. Always nice to find little hidden things to sneak in, too.

Can't wait to see it develop!
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
@Lo1sJess that looks so much fun. I like how you've put the Christmas trees together with different heights and sizes. Love the candy canes with the nutcrackers. Grand idea! I should have picked up 2 :)

I agree that populating the village is so much fun.

Very nice @Lo1sJess! For the Santa-chair - did you have a look at Charles Pritchett's model (his 1st book)?

I'd throw in a second for the Charles Pritchett's model. Scale wise, it fit's in nicely around some of the Market stalls. I plan to use my Nutcracker figs with it.

I also had the thought of using some of the other winter figs from this last CMF series as "photo-op" mascots of sorts. I'll have them around the square posing with people and having pictures taken.

With the scale of the new 3 in 1 tree, I might need to pull the trigger on it after all. I think it looks really good. And, quite the stack of presents you have there!!!

@Switchfoot55 I like the tree scale but need to swap out the ornaments not fond of hearts, hearts and more hearts….

I have Pritchett’s volume one so am looking now - might have to mode a bit I don’t think I have gold elephant trunks.  Thanks @eMJeeNL for the recommendation!

Here is my version for this year's Village. Not enough time to build the last 2 sets I have (santa's visit and the elf club), but the village is busy enough. Vampa, the Cave inhabitant, let's the train reach the winter village once a year, if it brings enough gifts to children.

@arathemis even Vampa getting in the holiday spirit.  Lovely village.  Please post a pic showing the left end of the village face on so we get the whole view.  Santa’s visit isn’t making it into mine either, it’s a victim of my bad choices and lack of time - I partially disassembled sets thinking it would be easier to store and rebuild.  I was right on storing but terribly wrong on the rebuilding!

I want to wish everyone in the LEGO community a happy and healthy Christmas.

Ole kirk and his familiy is ready for the christmas days with a traditional dinner.

I hope there might be a rattling present under the Christmas tree :)

I am very curious about what's under your Christmas tree?

In my case there is a Pick a Brick package and a book called the secret life of the LEGO brick under the tree.

I don't like the hearts either.  I swapped mine out using the Diamond with Stick pieces in Transparent Red.  Lego Part number 28556.  I grabbed a bunch of them in Trans Red from the PAB wall but I have lots in other colors if I want it to be more colorful.  I just used the red ones this time since I had just gotten them.

    Well, byebye!

Left #80109 on the shelf to join #80111 currently under construction.

    Anyone also cleaning up?

I'm starting my cleanup this evening. I anticipate a very quick one due to the limited availability of my collection. Thinking I may keep out the WV Bakery and Toy Shop and see if I can't find a way to smoothly combined them into a single building.

Already anxious for next year when I'll have everything back together under one roof!

Well, I didn't have any kind of winter display, but I did dismantle most of my Blacktron sets. I've left Invader and Cruiser out for now.

Took mine all down last weekend. Still have the train track and the Lunar New Year Ice Festival that I built after Christmas.

only really the track is still out is that I was considering building the Disney Train Station soon.

So I saw this on Lego Ideas. I thought it was great and would make a nice addition on the outskirts of the Winter Village. Maybe Santa, Elves, Gingerbread men on one end (fantasy end), WV in the middle and then more rural sets like this and the other end. It could even come with goats and sheep!

Looks like the latest Ideas approval might fit into the outskirts of some WV displays, depending on what the final version looks like -- mostly thinking about what the scale will end up being.

Are you referring to the Phone Booth or Nightmare Before Christmas @autolycus?

I definitely like that submission, Marshallmario! I've long wanted a farm of some sorts in my village (or rather, on the outskirts as you mentioned).

I was hoping that JK Brickworks' ski slope was going to be approved, in part because it would have been great with the winter village sets.  Also because it's just plain neat too, of course :P
