Excellent photos, as always! My future LEGO-room plans involve displaying as many prints/posters as I reasonably can and have it still look good.

I just received my LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation poster this weekend, which I will gladly hang with haste once this stinking house finishes being built!
I read that as 'sinking house,' and was confused. How long til all's done?

    Hopefully it won't sink!

No exact ETA at the moment. February, hopefully.

@Switchfoot55 , praying! LEGO status: So, I called LEGO, and they can see, and order the 91405s,(white) so something's off that WE can't... Oh, and reading Genesis. The creation account really puts things in perspective!

@Modeltrainman that good news on the white 16x16 plates.  As many as I thought i bought over the last year, I need more!  And being a little fearful I ordered 20 last night from bricklink that still won’t make it for Christmas for the village but I am happy that I at least have something for my first village and will post pics.  Started last year a little but the radiation and meds made following anything much more than advent calendars or polys impossible.  While I really like the concept of MILS it can sure add up quickly - so I’m going to blame this particular obsession on @Switchfoot55 for explaining it to me and be happy my crew has no idea of what each of these squares cost😁.

I need to find someone I can shift the blame to now!

Over the last few years, I've always added on a handful of the 16x16 plates to any parts order. In the new world, it helps quickly move up to eliminating the fees for the parts and/or get to free shipping. Even with all the ones I have, I still likely need another 50 or so. I'll keep chipping away! LEGO Rome wasn't built in a day, or so I've heard.

As soon as I have enough plates it’ll be the grebeling, track and ballast, roads, sidewalks……

Passed on trying to motorize anything this go around in favor of getting a village out this year.

I finished reading The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks book last night, right on the heels of finishing The LEGO Story book, so I've had just a whole ton of LEGO facts and stories poured into my head.
The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks was an interesting read. Some parts of it was about the development of specific elements or element families, other parts were about the development of themes or concepts. There was a lot of inside information into past and present processes for design of parts and sets. Developments of the basic bricks, wheels, minifigures, monorails, the core evergreen themes, mini-dolls, and technic were all covered. In the later chapters, there was quite a bit of time spent on the early 2000s and later with Bionicle, Galidor, Exo-Force, and up into themes like Ninjago and Legends of Chima. I personally was more interested in some of the earlier history, but even the stuff from the last 20 years was pretty interesting to read about! Definitely gives you a lot of insight into what goes into the design of sets, themes, and parts.

I do hope that something changes and this book gets a wider release because I think that there is a lot of the fan base who would enjoy reading it.

Here's the table of contents to give you an idea of what all is included:

I know I for one would love to expand my LEGO history library. Not just visual books for the minifigs or sets, but true history and insight. I'll keep a watchful and hopeful eye for any second run of this one!

It can! My family(Mom and I) bought 80 from BL a month or two ago, but even that didn't cover it, so, wow! It takes a LOT of parts to do this, but as this whole build will glorify God(the Nativity's done), Lord willing, I'm willing to be patient, and just pray, wait, and build. Pictures of my WV may come after Christmas,(I promised so many people pictures, my gramma, you all, ladies from church...) I did make a justification to keep it up all year round, and that's twofold: Elsa's castle, (needs snow to exist,) and it's just a section of a larger layout, Lord willing, to be linked by tunnels, so the viewer has no jarring transitions...)

Well, I just finished an interview for a new role within my company. Felt like it went exceedingly well. Should the offer be extended to me, I think some celebratory LEGO will be in order!
    Best of luck buddy!!

You'd better not try to shift blame to me. I already blame YOU for me thinking I wanted to ballast my track and MILS-ify my layout.

Hoping for the best with the interview outcome!

@autolycus and @Switchfoot55 and the ballasting, I forgot the ballasting I feel must be done - but not for the village this year it’s taking all my time just to get a village.  I need to look through the threads but someone had gorgeous tracks, switchfoot you commented on them and I think someone asked how he had done the curves maybe @modeltrainman.

    Maybe an @evancelt build, perhaps?

I vaguely recall that conversation as well. I'll have to dig.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with @Lo1sJess!

Im going to revisit those tracks soon - need to finish 15 MILs plates for a train show at the beginning of April!

Here are the instructions for one of the most common track ballasting styles, including how to lay down the base that the track sits on. The instructions are shown on specific sizes of baseplates, but obviously you can vary that however you need for your layout. It also has instructions for some MILS road styles.

    http://l-gauge.org/wiki/index.php/Reference_Instructions

The idea is that the track isn't necessarily permanently on the base, but it is attached sufficiently to stay in place in your setup.

A little nervous. Just got 1989 Batwing that I ordered December 1, and the tape looks a little sketchy. I prefer to not open boxes until I’m building the set, and I wasn’t going to build this one right away. But… Better to try to deal with anything missing now than when it’s REALLY impossible for Lego to correct.

The tape on the right can easily be lifted and restuck. The middle tape also looks less sticky than normal. Probably just the brutal cold, but still nervous enough to check the contents.

All there, including the 3 minifigs. Phew! I guess that might be my first post-Christmas build, even though I kind of been thinking about the ISD. Maybe best to wait for the Winter Village to come down before doing the ISD anyway.

I've ran into this tape issue on a couple of recent sets (The Winter Village Main Street being one of them). Not sure if it is just a biproduct of colder weather or what. In both of my recent cases, they were purchases directly from LEGO, so I felt at least a little more confident. Glad yours all panned out!

Yeah. You don't want to have to defeat the Empire to reclaim your WV.  My LEGO status, still reading Genesis, built another Winter Holiday Train polybag... Also: What are you building right now? - Page 208 — Brickset Forum

@Basty that stocking spurs a future Christmas gift idea - stocking packed with all sorts of PAB parts.  Wish there was Lego fabric readily available, I’d make some stockings and maybe some Easter eggs.  Maybe pieces Lego color strips cut and sewn like bricks in a wall pattern🤔

Last night, as we were putting gifts under the tree, my wife kept asking me, "What did you do?!", accusing me of getting her too much. And then she kept bring more and more out herself. Quite a haul for me this morning! She had taken advantage of those strange VIP discount codes for a couple big sets and then got some more on top of that! Plus I got a full haul of the various GWP and VIP ride sets that she got with her purchases. I'm spoiled! Only "complaint" is that I need to rearrange my storage quite a bit to make room for these! I already had some wire shelf sets ready to build for my basement. Got to organize some themes, get them into bins, and get them into the basement so I put these new ones in my upstairs closet.

I've spent the day building some friends sets that have been hanging around in boxes for far too long. I really wanted to build the modular police station I treated myself to for Christmas, but as I was cooking Christmas dinner, I had to choose sets I could fit in around the cooking. My fairground is coming along nicely though, and my building bench is now clear, ready for a big build during my remaining holidays.

My LEGO status: Reading Genesis, my brother is home(Praising God!) Started The LEGO Story(Thanks @Lo1sJess
and @pxchris for the recommendation!) Now, you're probably wondering what my brother has to do with my LEGO status, but when he was gone, I was told to not be in the basement.(So I don't hurt myself.)

A coworker noticed my storage drawers behind me on a conference call, and was asking about my storage since their sets have dissolved into mixed bins.  It was nice to give them the info on what drawers I use, the larger bins for built sets and instructions, etc.

Today: got up, breakfast with some LEGO building, followed by mid morning snack and LEGO building, followed by lunch with my mother in law and boardgames, then home for ..... snacks, drinks and LEGO building! It's the prefect recipe.

Reading Genesis, glad my brother's home, so I've been watching out for him a lot lately. Worked on my WV section a bit today, and @Lo1sJess and @Switchfoot55
will be excited, my mom(who's into the WV stuff, too) suggested I jump on a sealed #10235, so that came. I want to build it tomorrow, Lord willing,  and I think I want to use it as kind of a church fair, so I'm excited. Lord willing, nothing'll need to be replaced.

@Modeltrainman great set.  I got that one last year off eBay and put it together this year.  It was fun except for the mechanics of the carousel (fiddlely) that required assistance from my sister.  I ended up modifying it a little to make it turn more smoothly.  Maybe something I did wrong caused it to be rough - I need to work through and learn more on mechanics and motorization.
