^ Thank you very much! I love the lighting - and the Star Trek-esque nacelles. Although if they were true ST nacelles that pilot's brain would be scrambled by the subspace displacement field...

While very elegant, I always thought that Lego-made taxis had too many flaws, from being too blocky #40468 to being too cramped #40532.  After seeing the superb #40448, I've been pondering on making my own with 4 seats.  Here's what I've come up with so far!
It's only a render so I can't check for sure, but as far as I know, 4 minifigs should be able to fit in there!  They can be placed inside by taking out either the roof, or the side off the taxi.  I've been looking into doors for this, but this is my first car design ever, so I need more thinking time to make that work.
Little extra functionality, there's a working trunk with enough space for some luggage or other pieces!  The violet plaque at the back is a placeholder for a sticker.

Let me know what you think, and as always, suggestions are most welcomed!

There I was making wild allegations of minifig space, and I uploaded the wrong set of pictures...   Here's the one with the actual arm-space for everyone to fit in.  Plus, it includes little door handles!  That's what I get for posting at 4 am.

After helping construct a playground this summer, I was inspired to make one out of Lego as well! It includes a playset, rock wall, swing set, and carousel, among other things. as usual, you can get the building instructions at https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-125226/veyniac/modular-playground/#details

Really impressive, I never thought I'd see this in Lego form.  Can it move properly and all?  Or is it built in this pose and doesn't fully function?
  • arathemisarathemis Member Posts: 604
Yes, it can drive properly on its tracks, turret swings properly, when you elevate the gun you end up with it in your hand more often than not, and if you look at the turret in a wrong way it might lose 1 or 2 pieces. Those angles are pretty difficult to get, but I have some ideas on how to make it tougher. I'll come back with it.

In the meantime here is one of my favorites, Stug III G. This one does not have suspensions, only elevating gun (barely), working tracks and the commanders hatch. It's pretty sturdy though so one can play with it properly

Here is one for our American friends: sherman easy 8, suspensions, gun with elevation, rotating turret, hatches for commander, driver and radio/machine gun dude and a 50 cal mounted on the turret. See the suspension working in photo 1...  Came out pretty sturdy, one can play easily with it without breaking stuff of it.

Worked some more on the tiger 2, gave it cammo painting as well. Turret is a lot sturdier now, I can easily play with it.
There is a pic of the interior that can accommodate the driver and radio guy. Also a bit of engine detail.

Reworked the flak 88, I think it looks much better now. Gun can be rotated, elevated, legs can be closed for transport. Can also fit a gunner minifig.

Isn't it an expression usually about grades, where the gaussian distribution of grades is usually centered around the average?  So you could use that distribution to attribute A to the better builds and and F to the worst... but noooo, Mr Evancelt totally killed it and his grade is so much above and beyond the others that they all fail by comparison.  Hence the curve wrecking comment.

Haha thanks! Been a while since I was in school taking tests so that wasn't front of mind. I think most recently in grad school I was the one actually calculating the curve for the grades! Should have remembered :D

Instead I was picturing macaroni tiles and curved slopes

    "Patrolling Near Seawatch"

With the relief of Seawatch complete, Major Brickleton leads a company of 18th Hussars on a patrol around the recently besieged city.

Because much of the terrain is thick with underbrush, they find it easiest to travel in stream beds.

My son would go crazy for these. Are you just MOCing them up yourself, or are you using any reference instructions? I might need to start gathering some parts for him.

I'm not MOCing them at the rate I'm posting (the 1 exception is the 2 tiger 2s which were done in the past month, one after the other). This is the result of 2-3 years of lots of trial and error. And I'm posting the best version of each vehicle that we did so far (we as in me and my 14 years old son). Here is our first tiger version from 3 years ago. Not that pretty, but it helped make version 2 better and then v3 and so on. No interior in this one, nor suspensions, gun didn't elevate, no hatches. Turret did swing though.

Not to take anything away from @arathemis as I like his work. Have you heard of Brickmania? They are on the expense side, but they do sell digital instructions of military vehicles.

    "An Owl Accompanies"

The cadets had a few hours of downtime following the dinner mess at the Fort Stockton Military Academy.

As he retrieved his lute, Fredrick Granger invited Henry Theobald and Gibby Vand to accompany him on fiddle and accordion.

They settled in under a mossy oak tree and began to play an upbeat reel. Theobald first and then Vand noticed a strange accompaniment. They looked at one another as they played on - a mysterious 'HOOT' sounded in time to the song.

    -------------

An excuse to play with an antler oak. I'll make a bigger one soon.
