To be fair I have seen polybags in worse condition so their is some degree of grading possible, though I don't have any desire to own something in a plastic case.

There was a fairly recent scandal in the video game community where a grading company and auction house were artificially inflating the price of graded games so the whole process is sketchy to me anyway.

I am also a coin collector, and they have several grading services that encapsulate coins, which makes a lot more sense than LEGO boxes/polybags.  But there are 10 variations to a mint coin... from the lowest MS-60 (scratches and abrasion) to MS-70 (perfect coin).  The problem was that owners of very rare coins would break the encapsulation holder open, and resubmit the coin to the same or another grading service, hoping for a better grade the next time.  The difference between an MS-65 and MS-66 could be thousands of dollars, and rare coin owners were hoping that they would get a higher grading.

One problem with this was that you would get a grade say... "MS-66 with 9 coins graded higher".  Well that part of the grading service became moot, due to grading resubmissions... and the number of coins graded higher is taken with a grain of salt.

But I don't foresee this as a problem with LEGO, because few rare sets are sent in to be graded.  I know that all old time collectors (1950s/1960s) would never send their boxed set in, since viewing the contents held in place with cardboard inlays, is important to old time collectors.  And who wants to own LEGO set sealed like that?

@Istokg looking at the sellers other items, they have a bunch of those polybags plus various others. Definitely not something I would buy as I build all polybags or sell/trade/gift them! Something like this might be one for the polybag collectors maybe?

I have a few polybags on display but to me they look better displayed hanging up rather than encased in plastic.

They seem to give 90% to a lot of LEGO. Whatever that means.

They seem to be an acrylic casing company that makes money out of the trend for grading everything. Sellers feel the need to have things graded to improve the value so they can see the item for more to someone who thinks it must be more valuable if it has been graded even though they don't know the company that has graded it. It is one of those trends that will eventually burst when people realise paying £90 plus VAT is not worth it to encase a few figures ... https://ukgraders.co.uk/product/lego-marvel-super-heroes-76018-loose-custom-grading/

LEGO doesn't hit me as a medium where encapsulation grading is a necessary 'thing' to discern relative value of an item.

Definitely agree that coin collecting, comic book and really anything in a perishable paper medium would have some utility from grading.

I have a Gretzky rookie card that is impossible to get an even relatively reasonable value unless it is graded.  Yay for that.

Not ridiculous, but I wanted to post this so one of you fine folks could get the deal. Upon close inspection, these bags aren’t from the Corner Garage, but from Town Hall and Palace Cinema 😮

The torso is from Patrick from Spongebob so they are not actually his nips. And presumably there is a third one hidden by the helmet. Maybe they use each other as target practice.

Interesting. I am only familiar with Patricks legs as my LUG got a ton of them from Lego as support years ago. I have no idea what I have done with them, they are pretty much useless with the pattern and colors used. if only they had sent us Patrick torsos.

Okay, so partly in summary, there was a Chucky version of M-Tron spacemen. Vader has a fishnet battle face variant and Patrick's nips aren't his nips.
Was Hot Tub Stormtrooper actually trying to get in the Deathstar's Imperial swimming pool when that pic was taken?

It appears to be Team Red Thong's day in the hot tub, so presumably Team Blue was excluded. Although maybe it is Team Blue Thong's day in the hot tub and those red dots are from laser guided blasters.

*When ‘Ben Kenobi’ isn’t effective enough to keep me hidden I like to pop an Imperial helmet on and hide in an old sarcophagus*

*I also thought it’d be cool to regrow my Padawan braid, just for fun*

Oh look, #6811 for $14.79 US.  That's not bad.
...except it's nearly 8 MILLION DOLLARS for shipping!

Is it shipped in a private jet which you get to keep?  For $7,896,000.38 shipping, I'd expect something faster than delivery between September 29th and November 1st.  That's a HUGE range.  The seller must need some time to source that plane.
