a) you spend right at a $50 increment AND
b) you have something you would already be buying at Kohl's between the 5th and the 18th,
this is effectively 30% off even if buying a set at MSRP. The 2nd part of that IF is the big downside for me. If you use the money at Kohl's on another Lego set at full MSRP, the % discount is effectively reduced because you're locked into paying full MSRP for the 2nd set of purchases. For example:
Purchase #1: Ideas Blacksmith, $150 (let's assume you can find something for a few cents to put you over)
Kohl's Cash: $45
Purchase #2: Scout Trooper Helmet, $50 - $45 in Kohl's cash, net $5 spent.
So you spend $155 for $200 in Lego at full MSRP. That's effectively a 22.5% discount on the total of all purchases. Not bad if you're looking for sets that aren't typically discounted much. But not significantly better than if you wait for a Lego store and/or S@H Double VIP window with a good GWP, like we should see later this month, or if you can get the sets from Amazon, Walmart, or Target for 20% off. In fact, Target at 20% plus the 5% Red Card discount is the best option of those. That would have you pay $152 for the same 2 sets I used in my Kohl's example.
It was my first and likely the last time I purchase online from them. I had $20 in Kohl’s cash to burn and they didn’t have this set in stock at my local store.
Worst part is my sticker sheet was creased from the damage. I’ll have to order a replacement from LEGO.
