^This is simultaneously giving me hope and causing despair.

Hope that the parts will eventually come on line and be available for purchase as they once were.

Despair realizing that my hope is likely misplaced and is either a long ways off, or will never actually come about.

Just checked the BnP/PaB sit last night. I was marveling at how much was 'out of stock' right now.
There's a note that they have shut down standard parts ordering. I am assuming that's why everything is showing out of stock. You can still order the best sellers.
  • daewoodaewoo Member Posts: 851
I'm hoping all the factory expansions will allow for more PaB production.  I don't know if the current shortages are because of a huge jump in orders or a decrease in  production capacity that was dedicated to something else.
  • CymbelineCymbeline Member Posts: 580
I currently have a "standard" part from the replacement parts site in my bag worth 45 cents and a set worth $69.99. I'm being charged a shipping cost of $4.50. It seems that we are now being charged shipping for all replacement parts regardless of whether they are part of a larger order.
  • karritkarrit Member Posts: 1,068
With the update to PaB there is now a minimum spend on parts for each type of PaB. The original PAB is now called "Best Sellers" & the former BnP is now "Standard" parts.  With the ordering of "Standard" parts currently paused it's likely they wouldn't even ship the part to you at this time.  You might want to make note of the part number & remove it from your cart for now.  I noticed earlier that there are about a dozen standard parts currently showing as available under PAB but I don't know if they would actually ship any of them right now.  Here in the U.S. the minimum spend for either part type appears to be $14 to waive the service fee and once your total purchase exceeds the $35 minimum you get free shipping.

@karrit Thank you for explaining the new system to me. I had completely misinterpreted what I read on the site.

Put in an order now that the standard pieces are back in stock (still no new 2022 pieces unfortunately).  The whole process is just a confusing mess at this point.

I ordered about 100 unique parts that added up to about 1200 total parts.  The order is split into two sections when I look it up, some in Warehouse and some Standard.  The majority are in Warehouse while some are in Standard and it says the Standard ones will take up to 28 days.  From what I see here I think I'll be getting 2 orders, which makes sense so far.

Then yesterday I get an email that they're getting ready to ship 9 unique parts...which doesn't line up with either the Warehouse or Standard list on my order page.  So now I'm going to be getting a bunch of smaller orders shipped as they get them??  These might be from the best sellers list, but it doesn't say that anywhere.

There's also no consistency on what they show in each document.  My orders page includes a handful of part numbers (most are missing), but has quantity and price for everything.  My original receipt has part name and quantity.  The shipping notice shows part number and name.

I really hope they clean this all up.  At this point I'll need a spreadsheet just to make sense of this all and verify they actually send me everything I ordered.

Just thought I'd share that I placed an order for "bestseller" pieces in the US on June 2, and they arrived today, June 10.

Woah! Now that is an improvement. Hopefully the US-based inventory can grow and see a drastic decrease in cycle time on these orders!
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 1,016
It was my understanding that Best Sellers were coming out of a warehouse in Illinois so that's why it is so much quicker, and Standard is from Europe still?

I don't know. I placed an order not too long ago and the one thing says 11-15 days, but the actual confirmation says 28 days. So who knows. I didn't order the best sellers.
  • CymbelineCymbeline Member Posts: 580
On June 8th I placed a mixed order of Bestseller and Standard parts and a LEGO set including a GWP. I just got confirmation that the set, GWP and Bestseller parts have been shipped by FedEx under one tracking number. The Standard parts will be shipped later (up to 28 business days).

Standard come from Billund.  In North America, Best Sellers come from Illinois.

Can't fault Lego CS at all, gave them a call to enquire when they were going to sell part 6340167 (new City Wildlife Rescue Elephant body) as it's not on the new bricks and pieces site but I was able to buy the heads and trunks in the old replacement parts site a year ago. They aren't going to sell them as it's a specialised part but would send me 2 of the parts so my son can finally play with whole elephants rather than decapitated heads!

I guess if they never sell them, then I'll just never have one. I can't justify that price of the set just for the elephants, and bricklink sellers know the demand so can't justify that price either... hmm

I agree, I wouldn't buy the set just for the elephants, I used to get all my Lego animals from replacement parts - was great for picking up multiples but I was only ever able to get the heads as body always showed out of stock. Though it worth calling CS before sticking the loose heads in a drawer and forgetting about them!

The stupid thing is, a different day or a different operator and you'll get a different answer. They will sell other animal parts such as crocodile and shark heads and bodies even though they are just as specialised parts as the elephant parts.

Shouldn't the elephant head be considered a specialized part also?  And for that matter any part with printing is specialized.  Actually one would think that any part other than the basic bricks is a specialized part since it needs a special mold. If they list it with a price in the parts for sale on the website it should be made available for purchase.  There are plenty of other animals that are highly specialized like the horses, lions, reindeer,  etc. that can be bought.  Selling only half of an animal is beyond ridiculous.

You could get the body of the elephant without issue when they first came out. But demand, coupled with this train wreck of a new system they have, has probably really messed with their inventory system. Never mind the apparent screw up of not expecting such parts would be in extremely high demand once they were readily available like this.
Sadly I will no long expect to get any of the animals I will want in these newer sets due out if LEGO will never put them in stock on their site, nor allow you to buy them via a call to CS anymore.

Yeah, some people were able to order all the elephant parts, but in some cases heads were delivered but body parts cancelled. Presumably too many orders got placed for army building or resale.

So the new farm animals, the corn cobs, the viking girl hair from creator and stuff like that won't be added either?

I think in combining PaB with BnP LEGO found an excuse to severely limit what can be purchased now, more than before (it used to be any licensed sets, now its pretty much anything not in the website).
If thats the case, I guess its not too surprising. Once LEGO found out what prices people were charging for animals on BL they either wanted that action or wanted to stop it so people would have to buy their outrageously expensive sets, like the '4+' farm set due out.
Like @daewoo says, time will tell but its not looking great.

A survey regarding Pick a Brick. I've just completed it. As with most of these market research things - you have to jump through the agenda they have in place before you can offer your opinions. It's pretty quick though, less than 5 minutes.

Yeah, filled it out. It was a bit annoying that you had to list everything in its 'importsance' to you, but I noted how people are currently selling their 'out of stock' elephants for twice the price and have 100's of them on eBay now.
I think LEGO needs to limit stocks on anything that is not a 'standard' part (like minifigure parts/accessories, animals and printed parts) and actually needs to make them available on their site instead of being perpetually sold out/not available.
Now whether LEGO actually pays attention to these surveys... we will see.

^ What's the mini-build thing they were asking about on one of the questions (ranking)?

Probably a bit like the little builds they do or used to do for the PAB walls in store. Where you could pick particular models with instructions if you wanted to.

I would like to buy all the animals in this set brickset.com/sets/60346-1/Barn-Farm-Animals but they're not listed in the lego.com/en-us/pick-and-build/pick-a-brick website. It seems that no animals are there except ones from the Friends theme (dogs, cats, etc). Does the Replacement Parts option allow you to get these?

I was browsing Lego's PaB marketplace and just sorted all items from most expensive. I found this interesting for a Duplo light-up brick. I realize this is an extreme example, but still funny.

BrickLink has the part for $3-$5 USD.

Even more interesting is that Lego sells the a set that contains this part for $50. https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/frozen-ice-castle-10899, I suppose they're discouraging people from buying lots of these parts...?

Its also likely an expensive part for LEGO, it seems most such parts are pricey, then you have to factor in that they have a build in battery as well, so there are safety guidelines and shipping guidelines for items with batteries as well. Plus Im guessing those are hand assembled..

Did you know you can build a pretty darn good replica of the 6073 Knights Castle from 1984 using only parts currently available on Bricks and Pieces? Well, you can, but it costs about $90. The 31120 Medieval Castle from 2021 is a much better castle for $100 except for how few minifigs it has. So get the 31120 instead.

^ I bought 3x Medieval Castles just for the extra minifigs (I joke, but even with 9 soldiers it still looks a little sparse). I was hoping to get some more but B&P seems to be devoid of any now.

New parts are on PaB today, including new animals (looks like mostly the animal rescue set, so Hare, Baby Croc, Panther cub, etc) The Grey bunny is available and is 3.53 USD.. Hoping some of these parts appear in the Bam bins in the stores... The corn piece is available now. I now know why the corn piece is not in a lot of sets, especially cheap ones, as LEGO is charging a whopping 5.02 USD per piece !

The prices for the dual molded parts is crazy but I don't get how they can justify charging $16.71 for the Friends giraffe.

I'm excited that they are finally labeling the Duplo parts.  Now, if you could just filter to see only non-Duplo Lego pieces, it would be even better.
  • NicksBricksNicksBricks Member Posts: 314
I am having issues filtering by sub-category if I’m viewing the parts for a specific set. All of the search options and results disappear as soon as I click the category. Doesn’t matter what device or browser I am using. I’ve tried being signed in and out. Anyone else seeing this?

Not sure if anyone has heard anything, but it appears no new parts in PaB for a while now, and it appears that maybe they are not replenishing stocks of existing parts.. I wonder if they have closed down for the holidays, has anyone heard this confirmed?

Yeah, standard is paused worldwide except for North America (not sure why).

They usually shut it down to clear the existing orders in the run up to Christmas (and just after) when they gets loads of missing parts requests.

My Bestseller just shipped, so I'm not sure. Ironically, they said my standard would be shipping last Friday. (It hasn't.)

I've found my Standard Parts notifications on shipping and arrival have never updated properly. With my last parts order, I got a random email one day saying my payment method needed to be updated from PayPal. I called CS and they said the payment looked fine and would process shortly. Three days later, my parts arrived. Two days after that, the payment processed. Ironically, I also go notice that my parts had shipped shortly after the payment processed.....YMMV, but that was my latest adventure!

No, it hasn't been showing anything out of stock for over a week now.  The available parts have been fluctuating slightly but nothing I'm looking for seems to be coming back in stock so far. I still have one pending standard parts order from November 21 that is still in warehouse.

    @Switchfoot55
Similar happened to me recently. They sent me an email saying they are having problems charging me, even though it was a partial order that was already shipped and charged. And since they don't charge until they ship, I didn't get it. They sent another email saying I owe them more money because they can't charge me, yet they shipped my PAB order and charged my account...so who knows what's up with their IT department.

I always pay for lego orders through PayPal and I reckon for 1 in 2 I get an email about them having difficulty charging me. I never phone them any more over these, and they all get charged just fine.

I already posted this in another thread but figured it might be seen better here.

New parts have been showing up on PAB today.  The Out of Stock button is now working and many new parts have been added.  A lot of parts from the Lion Knight's Castle set #10305 have been being added with some selling out sporadically throughout the day.  Torso's & heads from the Table Football set are showing but most other than a couple of heads don't appear to actually have been available to order yet.

A lot of valuable parts from the castle also appeared then disappeared just as quick, at least for US buyers according to posts on eurobricks.

It also reopened for UK buyers yesterday but not much new worth buying for us yet.
